Both have shitty things they have to deal with, and both have benefits the other doesn’t. I think it balances out eventually. We all evenly suck and we’re all evenly miserable in a wide spectrum of ways.
I honestly don't think it has anything to do with gender, but instead how they perceive life and handle their own lives. Typically, people with negative mindsets who make no effort to improve their lives are not going to be happy, for example.
here in the uk the highest suicide rate is men under 45 but thats only one indicator and im sure there are plenty of unhappy people in all walks of life

Women because less expectation in life in general. We are more free to do what we want with our lives. We are allowed to have hobbies and activities more than men. All of those answers are based off of how men are looked at as the workers in society and how women are looked at as the care givers, men have less time and more is expected from them. Stay at home husbands/fathers are looked at as dead beats.

I think this has gotten a fairly rigorous amount of study and in general it's the case that men are because women are more sensitive to negative emotion and anxiety. There are good evolutionary hypotheses as to why this might be the case. So there's a pretty big genetic component to it all.
Despite the fact that women habe their ego's stroked daily by guys just trying to get a taste. Women are always so in their head about something 24/7. They's constantly competing with eachother. They're constantly nagging the guy they're with to do the impossible. If you're lucky enough to be born a white male you can just bask in it.
@Julietchicago actually that's not all it's cracked up to be. Getting pestered by women all the time. I don't like hurting peoples feelings so i wouldn't enjoy that
Lol boohoo. Come on. I was once extremely gorgeous and men would pester me all the time. I didn't mind it at all. Would rather have that than be ignored or invisible
Men have more societal pressure to be macho, tall, strong, rich, socially respected, long c**k etc - at the same time, they are poor at honest communication about their problems and insecurities with higher suicide rates.
I wasn't the one who downvoted you, however this isn't really true. At least the last part about honest communication about problems. Often the same women who say the things you're saying (I'm not talking about you specifically because I don't know you, I'm speaking generally) are the first to tell guys to stop whining.
The real reason for the high suicide rates of men is that despite all this virtue-signalling people don't really give a shit about men's problems. Women especially. Other men are actually more understanding, which is a big thing women don't tend to get.
There have been guys here who've had serious problems and I've spoken to them through PM and at least tried to help them figure out how to overcome it, because when they asked questions about it all they got was mockery, again from the same kinds of people who repeat the things you're saying here.
@Barbaric you know I actually agree with you that women often disregard men's problems and that makes the problem worse - most women expect men to be 'tough' and have all the traits I listed above, and if they don't, women tend to be very unforgiving and dismissive of men who often have genuine grievances. There is still a outdated belief that women are hugely disadvantaged while men are privileged unfortunately
Women are too hard on themselves. I've seen beautiful women say they're hideous focusing on their worst qualities, and ugly men (myself) look in the mirror and overestimate themselves.
I think happiness is what you make of it. From a societal perspective, this is a messy question. I think happiness is too broad of a term to choose an answer that qualifies your question.
Life is what you make it, regardless of who or what you are. If you choose to be happy and find the best even in a negative event... you'll make yourself happy.
Generally speaking, men tend to be happy with a lot less than women are. Empty apartment with a playstation, food, and a mattress? That'll do it for a lot of guys. If it weren't for women, men would show off a lot less.

Men are generally happier. Men create their own happiness, women are emotionally parasitic and are expecting others will make them happy. Amount of women who consume antidepressants is twice as high that of men. It's approx. 100 girls per 1000. (10%). Suicide rates of men is higher 24 men per 100000 (0,00024%). Comparing 10% of female population who need psychotropic medication with 0,00025% of men who ended their miserable lives is like comparing a lake with glass of water.
I don’t think it depends on their sex/gender. It’s more about their lifestyle, their socioeconomic status, the support they get from family and friends, their physical environment etc.
If I had to say based on the whole WORLD. MEN have got to be happier. They have more reasons to be in my opinion... If we isolate certain locations then that narrative can be thrown out.
@Hunter7754 read my other response to your suicide answer. It's very very rare that somebody commits suicide, and women have a higher rate of attempting suicide anyway, they just don't succeed. so you cannot compare a generalized gender question with a small minority group.
@Broken_doll I think the case in America is socioeconomic status more than gender as there is a much more definitive correlation for that
And that goes for the whole world to, if you are exploited, powerless and not taken care of when your fellow humans have the means to do so and you don't, of course you are going to think about some way out and suicide seems like the only way for some people
@HartleyB you're right. I don't even think suicide and gender have a correlation like people think. Some people commit suicide because they have some kind of physical ailment that they can't live with anymore or are medical malpractice victims like that newscaster who had lasix and her eye was all fucked up. Those cases have nothing to do with gender
@Broken_doll I'd wager to say women that commit suicide use less violent methods because they're doing it as a cry for help. Men on the other hand just don't care, they don't think its worth it.
Mens mental health largely isn't really taken seriously.
@Hunter7754 I disagree that there is a correlation between gender and suicide anyway. And even if there was, you are not taking into consideration other possibilities of why women use less lethal methods. First of all, many women do not even know how to use a gun. Second, they may be more afraid of the pain than men. Also, if women attempt suicide more than men, doesn't that mean they are unhappier? The end result doesn't really matter in this case
You all do realize the question is about happiness not suicide. Suicide doesn't show all the people that are simply sad but not suicidal. There is probably no way to successfully measure happiness across the globe.
Hard to say. I've heard statistics say that women's happiness over the years has gone down compared to 30-40+ years ago. However, I'm hesitant to say men are happier seeing as the male suicide rate is pretty high.
Probably men. We take most things lightly and have a funny and jestful viewpoint, most of the time. We can be strict, but we don't really like to be that way. Taking all this account, I guess we men enjoy a lot (:

Then there's me, who put in effort for like 10 years and stays depressed nevertheless.
@Unit1 I'm sorry to hear that. :(
I have noted of your sympathy. Appreciated!

Just look at suicide rates... Men are in way worse shape.
I think happiness is what you make of it. From a societal perspective, this is a messy question. I think happiness is too broad of a term to choose an answer that qualifies your question.

Men, they’re generally less judged and usually live life with no strings attached.
They also don’t have to deal with the stress of having periods or childbirth.
I don’t think it depends on their sex/gender. It’s more about their lifestyle, their socioeconomic status, the support they get from family and friends, their physical environment etc.
Exactly! You just spoke my mind
If I had to say based on the whole WORLD. MEN have got to be happier. They have more reasons to be in my opinion... If we isolate certain locations then that narrative can be thrown out.
The rates of male suicide disagree with you.
@Hunter7754 For the whole world?
I can't speak for the WHOLE world but in America, men's suicides rates are extremely high.
@Hunter7754 read my other response to your suicide answer. It's very very rare that somebody commits suicide, and women have a higher rate of attempting suicide anyway, they just don't succeed. so you cannot compare a generalized gender question with a small minority group.

I think us single women are for we do not have to look at these men with their ugly magnifying size penises if we do not want to ! thanks
