WAP is obviously not female empowerment. It's the opposite... just female objectification, which is ironic.
Is having more women in certain fields "empowering" to women? Only if it's what a woman wants and what makes her happy. I don't understand why society believes that pushing women into certain fields is a good thing. There are already more female than male medical students, but there will never be nearly as many female engineering students as males because on average women do not enjoy engineering disciplines as much as men do. That will always be the case, so why push women into engineering? We should remove any barriers and let people do what they want, and we are already there.
More females earning the same salaries as males? Sure, but "earning" is the key word there and that means making the same life choices and sacrifices men do. It also means making a high-earning career the same life priority for women that it is for men, and that ain't never gonna happen because women care about different things and have different priorities than men do, and that is partly because men are valued by society (and by women) for their earnings far more than women are. So what exactly does "female empowerment" mean in that context?
"Female empowerment" is a misused and overused term.
That WAP song is for the super low class trashy women and for hookers to listen too. That song isn't musical art but straight nasty garbage design to destroy a young girls mind.

Those are the kind of chicks you fuck in the ass,
not the ones you take home to mom n pop.
Keep in mind that cardi b admitted to drugging men, raping them, and robbing them. That’s not empowerment. She’s actually what women needs to steer away from when it come down to self respect and learning to love yourself the way you are right now. Cardi doing this because it’s what popular out here and this is what can get you record sells. Rap about something positive and you become invisible to the industry. Rap music plays and effect the intelligence level of the human mind. It effects the way you think and feel when playing music like this including songs involving violence. People listen to the music instead of just listening to the word. If people actually took the time to listen to the lyrics and understand then they will get the message being sent to the public. Their telling you to provoke violence on one another. They ain’t telling you nothing positive. A good percentage of them get all this money and only give back to keep themselves in the spotlight. They rap about lives they aren’t even living. I haven’t listened to rap in forever.
thanks for mho
It's just a sexual song. Empowerment can be defined as "the process of becoming stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one's life and claiming one's rights." Under that meaning, sure, it can be used as personal empowerment for some women because empowerment is subjective. Maybe being sexually bold could help some women feel more confident and in control, but of course this won't apply to every woman because not every woman is the same. It could also empower certain female rappers by tackling double standards in rap. Of course, the men rap about sex and their dicks a lot without complaint, so the female rappers should be able to do something similar without complaint as well.
"Men rap about sex and their dicks a lot without complaint" not true, i won't listen to that garbage either.
@JesterRose: You don't have to listen to it. Yet, that doesn't mean that rap fans general complain about it when it happens.

It depends on how you look at it. I’m all for women being free with their sexuality, but it’s hard when I think about how Cardi B and others like the Kardashians keep giving low value men sex after their guys committed infidelity. Women need to more about punishing bad behavior from men. Save sex for the guys who are at least worth a damn first, then you can brag about “how you got the ring.”
Meh, I think female empowerment is a multi-dimensional thing that is contingent on someone’s own perception and response to that.
Basic example. Plenty of people thought that scene in Avengers Endgame with all the female superheroes together was tacky, not empowering and cringy. But others, such as a niece of mine, was really happy to see that and felt great that they added it in.
Some stuff makes some people feel empowered and doesn’t make other people feel empowered. Do some people feel empowered by songs like these? Probably. Do other people feel that it is more of an embarrassment and not empowering? Probably.
I can imagine that if one would look for a consensus that this would generally not be seen as consensus, but of course how someone individually responds to it is a very individual thing.
*not seen as empowering
I would say popularizing these kinds of songs as far as making a kids bob versions is much more about indoctrination to an over-sexualized culture and cardi's quick easy buck than empowerment
Meh, I doubt there is a grand conspiracy to create an “over-sexualized culture.”
Doesn't have to be a conspiracy. It's happening naturally because social media has made sexual themes so easily accessible and abundant. Entertainment media follows trends. If sexual themes selling becomes extremely popular, media caters to that audience. The fact that "that audience" has reached the point of including children on trends with something THAT overtly sexual is troubling. Hypersexualized media geared towards children existed but was not nearly this widespread, easy, and obvious in the 90s. Phht I remember easily finding work arounds to the joke that is "parental locks" when I was in early middle school and parents are giving children phones and tablets younger than that.
It also doesn't help that man-children and woman-children don't realize or care about the impact the media they make and spread has on younger generations with access to that same media. They just want their 2 mins of viral fame. Tik-tok, tumblr, and twitter are the biggest examples in last 10 years that I can think of.
*parents are giving children younger than that phones and tablets.
Are you being serious right now? No that song isn't about female empowerment it's about two whores posing for attention.
The singer doesn't even want her own daughter to hear it because of how bad of a message it sends out. It's basically saying be a whore a gold digger and do drugs.
It's cringy is what it is.
Imagine a guy who's completely average bragging about himself, and saying he deserves to only sleep with models and he's better than like... David Beckham or something.
...
That's exactly what women look like, when they buy into this 'empowernent' thing.
Women who are like... 5/10 walking around thiking they're 8's are embarrasing themselves. Seriously. We cringe at it.
There's a difference between confidence and arrogance.
Feminists are confused. A hooker living 10k years ago had the exact same amount of power as the women in the video. Nothing more. Nothing less. "Empowerment" implies that you're doing something new, gaining new power.
Also as more men learn the power of ignoring women and not letting his hormones or her emotions control him, this "power" women have had for thousands of years will be reduced.
We live in interesting times.
I don’t know who said this lie but WAP isn’t female empowerment. Kamala Harris is female empowerment. AOC is female empowerment. The prime minister for Germany and New Zeland are female empowerment. Whether any of the politicians I just mentioned any good is up for debate, but they show that women can do it to. Like I don’t get why men or women still think that they can’t do anything. Like ok physically if you put Michael Phelps against the best female swimmer no chance, but when it comes to real life work, ambitions, and dreams. They can do just the same as men. Like didn’t you see how Kim Jung Uns daughter was more dangerous than her father. Like that’s some scurry shit. 😂😂
Because she’s a Vice President. Again will she be a good Vice President only time will tell, but it can motivate women and girls to become a president.
Well I feminism is about letting the woman have the choice of doing what she wants to. So the fact that the two singers are able to choose to do this could be seen an empowerment.
But then again, the video does have an unnecessary level of sexualization. Personally I feel like it's just to distract from the fact that Cardi B's singing isn't really that great.
I refer you to the Equal Pay Act, which President Kennedy signed into law in 1963.
Women have had equal pay for that long.
Feminists continue to lie about the claimed pay gap. Imagine my surprise.
Women have fewer dollars in their pockets, on average, because women choose to work fewer hours, choose occupations that pay less and tend to choose worthless degrees.
And then there's me, who got paid 20% less for doing the exact same job as the girl we hired last year. She actually told me how much she makes and I in return told her how much I did for doing the exact same thing as she did.
Where I "live" such things go practically unpunished by the law. This is the corrupt and poor east, where specialists do the outsourced type of work.
"Whores in the house"
"Bring a bucket and a mop for this wet-ass pussy"
"Swipe your nose like a credit card"
"Spit in my mouth, look in my eyes"
"I don't cook, I don't clean
But let me tell you how i got this ring"
"I let him taste it, now he diabetic"
Sounds retarded ngl.
If that's women empowerment then I don't know what the word "women" means.
It’s not female empowerment to tell women what professions they should aspire to. Nor is it female empowerment to judge women based on their clothing choices, sexual habits or how much flesh they show.
So I’d say your comments here are as opposing to female empowerment as that music video is.
Back in 2016 I was taking a creative writing class and was falling behind on homework. I thought my gpa was a goner do to that class, that is until one day my teacher asked us to write a poem from the view point of a body part. To save my grade I decided to write my poem from the view point of a vagina. Yes I said it, I wrote my poem about a vagina. Needless to say I got a A++++ in that class and suggestive looks from the teacher. One classmate had connections to LA and a couple celebrities. I like think they used my poem for their song... because boy... that was one suggestive poem.
In general... no. This isn’t something that applies to every type of woman. It is empowering for women who want to rap about sex and for women in life who are interested in exploring their sexuality.
I don’t understand why female empowerment has to be so broad. If it’s not something you agree with or if it’s simply not your style then stay in your lane and eat your food. It is empowering to some, and not others and that’s ok.
I think the song was just a song until women gave it a meaning.
Why can men sing/write songs about sex, going into explicit detail or being derogatory, but when a woman does it, it was shocking?
Why can men have women in revealing clothing, shaking their ass and everything else in their music videos, but when a woman does it, it's outrageous?
Why can't both (your examples and WAP) be female empowerment? Why is does it have to be a one or the other thing?
The song is just giving men a reason to jerk off. I mean cardi is an ex stripper for goodness sake. She just shakin whatever to make money. I don't know why people are making it more than it is lol. Its just a catchy tune with awesome costume designs, a lot of unnecessary lyrics and some extensive ass shakin
No, it's about female degeneracy. Ain't nothin wrong with a WAP lol but hey guys here's a thought, remember when music used to be deep and meaningful? Sex sells, and it's the cheapest way to peddle any product. This girl is hardly different from a stripper, just making money of her sexuality. People who think this shit is empowering are the same people who think being a stripper is empowering.
tl;dr, it's not
You're reply reminds me of the flock to sex work on Onlyfans and subsequent supply/demand catastrophe that ensued.
Lets just say it's literally the easiest way for women specifically to make money and yet the great majority of Onlyfans creators are still poor, whiny, and claiming to be victims.
any girl that looks up to cardi b and genuinely take her advice to the heart is in serious need of a reality check. Carbi b is a low life that drugged and robbed men in clubs. she's a criminal and dumb one at that. she is absolutely in no position to empower anyone especially young ass girls that'll take her advice over say a lady doctor, lawyer, CEO or entrepreneur.
I don't think this song is one way or the other. At one time I think women saying sexually shocking things would have put them on the same playing field as men, but I think that time has come and gone. It's not empowerment at this point, but I don't think it's a detriment either. Pretty sure these women made it very clear, starting with the title, what this song is about. lol
Eh I consider it detriment when you make kids bob versions of these kinds of songs and children start idolizing this behavior.
I looked up the unofficial Kids Bop version. I think it might be more dangerous to children than the original, just because we can't afford to have kids coming up that cheesy. lol Kids will gravitate to things not meant for them sometimes, but that's life. There are things out there that are intended for grown people, and with a bit of luck kids just won't understand the content, or will separate the sound that they like from the actions talked about in the song. That's a question of teaching kids about life though. It doesn't do any good to hide life from them. Child starts listening to WAP, maybe it's time to have "the talk". Just my take on it.
But as far as just female empowerment, I don't think it's good or bad. It's just a song. If young women are drawn to the message of the song and they want to be like that when they're grown, that's their choice to make. That's a part of empowerment. Nobody gets to make that choice for women anymore, but WAP didn't really influence that. I think if you're talking allowing women to be just as comfortable sexually as men, then you're probably looking at Madonna or someone like that as far as musical influence on culture goes. Maybe even somebody further back, but she's the first one that comes to mind.
I dont see how the ethos of wap is not illegal like rape is. Watching the video wap is like metaphysically sexuallly assaulting a generation of people, boys and girls, confusing them and wasting their energy through the use of seduction. it should be illegal, it is deliberately destructive animalism that only serves the abuser.
Doesn't matter. I think singers like Grace Slick, and Stevie Nicks and Debbie Harry represent female empowerment, bands with men and inspiring women and of course women in professional fields
Being a whore is not empowering. Anyone who disagrees should be immediately disregarded as their priorities in life are not worthy of a conversation.
it is not female empowerment. it is just pure sex. and the song is about women being dominant as sex objects and using the objectification of their sexual body to control men. great song. i love it. but horrible message to young girls.
I’ve heard and seen this video and when I did I just felt extremely embarrassed. Being a woman myself I do not approve of such a song. Disgusting words and behaviour.
No. Deary. Just as Donald Trump was not about "America first" either.
People like Trump and Cardi invent narratives, to sell from and recruit for. They couldn't give the tiniest shit what it means for gender, family or country.
No its definitely degrading women, making them appear as sex toys. Here comes the down votes - modern women are too brainwashed into realizing this.
I think this is degrading to women and promotes prostitution to young girls
It is for her.
It seems like she would feel that those other careers are unnecessary for her and that she in empowered above other women for relying largely on her sexuality to get what she wants. I think she sees that as putting herself at a level above other women as she doesn't need to feign sexual value through some high qualification career -- she just has it to the extent to which she can live off it without consideration for anyone else.
It is not "empowerment", it is called :career choice".
Females are ignoring the quite obsolete idea that certain jobs are for men only.
You know this is the new normal when the guy beside you in a foxhole is a girl.
Yes, because society thinks that only men can talk about sex. It's nice to see women finally getting sex and showing skin out there. It shows that liking this stuff doesn't make you a slut.
Retarded
Using your huge platform to release a song like this is not only disrespectful to yourself, but to all women. No empowerment at all, just what is wrong with today’s society on full screen.
It’s about getting fucked hard, not female empowerment lol
It is empowering the idea that women are objects and all that really matters is their sexual gratification.
Nothing says, "I'm not an object" better than glorifying your genitalia.
Women pinning their only worth down to their coochie is anything but empowerment.
this song is basically about pleasing a man, so no not really empowering
I thought this song was about going down on a girl and empowering others to be more comfortable with doing so 🙃
If you are empowered by a bunch of sluts "singing" to trashy music while shaking their asses then I guess you can call it that 🤷♂️
No, it's about two strippers shaking their cases for money.
Asses
All I see are two whores posing for attention. What's that have to do with women who have self respect?
Sounds like an abbreviation for a lesbian man haters association - Women Against Penis
I wouldn't call it female empowerment, i would call it classless and irritating.
That song is the most classless, disgusting and demoralizing thing I have ever heard. 🤮
You don't empower women by making them the same as men. You empower women by making it honorable to be a woman.
Same with men, feminists who whine about being oppressed because they claim they can't have the freedoms men do, don't seem to realize that men who are overly sexualized whores are generally not very "honorable" or "marriage material" either.
@jarofawesome You're right. An honorable or culturally celebrated man should not be just some kind of playboy.
WAP? What does WAP have to do about women?
That's a weak Wi-Fi security feature. Use WAP2 instead and use AES encryption instead of TKIP.
If this is empowerment, I truly hope most women refuse to be empowered.
Even more since it's done by a criminal whore.
when I listened it to it, didn’t make me feel empowerment more of the opposite
You can't force female empowerment, bc there is not such thing. Females tend not to work in the same area like men.
This song is about sex not female empowerment. It’s about sex slaves and naked women who can’t dress properly.
I bet these women in the song make way more money than the ones who work at McDonalds or Wal-Mart so yes it is female empowerment
I don't see any difference between a hoe and a corperate lawyer they both do stuff they don't wanna do for cash, at least a hoe is honest and provide a necessary function in society.
Yes it’s female empowerment the ones who are saying that it’s not are idiottttsss
No its about being the kind of woman nobody respects.
People are looking weirder and weirder as the years go on... Look at all that plastic.
Its not female empowerment if you force females to study and work in those positions. 🤦🏻♂️
Also wage gap does not exist
Right? There shouldn't be forced quotas to meet in any industry. Let women choose what fields they want to be in on their own. Wage gap is just women on average choosing lower paying jobs over higher paying ones.
Ex. Choosing to work at a daycare instead of be a Garbage man.
Payscale
-Daycare $7.95-$14.60
-Garbage collector $10-$29
I mean just some logic or common sense and you would realize there is no wage gap because if there was companies would only hire female workers...
Ig there is a girl that is upset that females are not forced into labor lmfao
?
Ah, you must be one of those that don't read comments. I was agreeing with you dummy.
"Wage gap is just women on average choosing lower paying jobs over higher paying ones." = Wage gap is made up because it's based on faulty information (i. e. women choose naturally lower paying jobs on average than men so the "average" salary appears lower but isn't)
@jarofawesome i was agreeing with you too silly lol my last comment was for the one dislike i got from a girl lol
Gee golly mister, why I sure am sorry. Gone made myself a fool again. 🤦🤦
Sorry for the miscommunication
No, Quite simply its idiocy. Why do you think she doesn't want her daughter to hear it?
No but this and BLM are the only things nominated by BET for an award this year so we have to consider it as important or be called a racist by 14 year old white girls
Yes, if you call changing every aspect of yourself to plastic empowerment.
It's literally a guide to what most women want in the bedroom.
Nah, female empowerment is wonen being able to go shirtless or just naked or mastrubation in public without men staring or objecting it
Nah man, that's just you hoping to see sex acts out in the open; which is less to do with empowerment and more to do with public exposure
Understand the tone buddy 😂👍
Text on a screen doesn't carry a tone, no easy way to determine a serious comment or not; that's why emojis exist and people have started using "/s" to denote sarcasm.
Thank you for the info 😝👍
She drugged and raped men. Is that female empowerment?
Love this songgggg sexual empowerment sure. It’s for freakier people☺️
No it is not it. It about women being proud of their pussy. In which they should be
