No there's nothing wrong to be complemented. She's overreacting on her tweet. She's taking this to next level. How can she tell that it was sexist? Unless the guy actually said "oh I didn't thought you are capable of this". He simply said positive things; brilliant, smart, etc. Both male and female workers enjoy a nice and genuine compliment when they work hard.

I think we've reached the point where dealing with people is too much like work. People can't just casually interact anymore. You have to worry about if what you're saying could come off as racist, sexist, offensive, insensitive. Even if that's not how you mean it. Compliments used to be a good thing.

Which is it? Are we suppose to treat women the same as men or different than men? Because if I meet a male coworker that is particularly smart... I tell them! The woke nonsense is beyond out of control. I know good and damn well than men and women alike enjoying being complimented. Common sense people!!!

I don't see how, i mean it doesn't have anything to do with what gender u r. Nor does it use any words that would lean towards either side of the gender platform so i don't understand.
No but women seem to think so because certain groups in society or places you live are perceived to have certain stereotypes that portray women as dumb. In my line of work I have never heard women being called clever or smart. I would think a scientists or engineer or designer might get confidence or be proud to be called clever or smart.

No. Would it be sexist if I said the same thing to my male colleagues? Why should it be seen as sexist? Just because some fucking shrew says it's sexist doesn't make it so. The world's gone fucking mental with this sexist shit and I'm sick of hearing it.

Mel Andrews is plain wrong, as an engineer of over thirty years if someone solves a problem, or comes up with a brilliant Idea I'll complement them for it, Irrespective of their 'pronouns'. Its the small things like this that makes working life run smoother, but given that Mel Andrews is a PhD student in phil bio, they have probably never had to work in a serious work environment where small things that makes working life run smoother are very important.

Calling someone smart or clever isn't sexist, it's polite. That's some idiots trying to be woke but isn't.
Now on the other hand, a backhanded compliment like "you're smart for a girl" is rude and sexist.

I'm not sure I ever compliment in that way, it seems odd. I compliment their work and ideas and output. How smart or otherwise they are is kinda missing the point. Oh I see - more Twitter nonsense. Honestly guys - you'll go blind...

Weren't feminists saying that they prefer those compliments rather than "pretty" or "sexy"? If thats true then it shows you can never please these people.

Mel clearly has a lot of growing up to do in the Real World, provided she can get the Day Passes.

No, not unless there's some context missing here that could make it sexist. But that tweet doesn't mention any further context, so I'll just go with no.
She's not a feminist she's a misandrist. Real feminists want equality for both genders.

@Elsa143 Bullshit. This is just the standard way you feminists deny responsibility for all the garbage being done by other feminists. Meanwhile feminism is being flushed down the toilet by other feminists while you stand by idly denying there is anything wrong.
Again I said that they're not feminists. They just misuse the word. You might have faced a lot.

@Elsa143 Oh, they're feminists alright. You just don't agree with them.
Not only are they real feminists, they have become the face of the feminist movement. They represent it and whether you like it or not, they are speaking for you. They continue to destroy your movement because you're too dishonest to do anything about it.
Denial is one of the most destructive of human behaviors.

I think even talking to them is so dangerous that men should not do that.
