I'm concerned as well, being Russian I actually prefer to take sides with Ukraine on this particular situation as I share similar political ideologies with the Ukrainian people as you can see by my avatar. This action shouldn't be taken and we shouldn't divide Europe into two blocs anymore, the annexation of Crimea was a desperate attempt to obtain an ice free port for our ships, war between European nations should not happen and NATO knows that the only advantages they have are diplomacy and US aid neither they have the excess trained manpower nor the excess of locally manufactured weapons. So they know that Russia has the upper hand but in my opinion we shouldn't divide Europe by fearing Russia and it's desire for conquest, a lot of people assume Putin to be a communist but he is actually the most right wing politician in Europe from my perspective which I feel is good. Russia and NATO have always played with each other by proxy wars which ruin other nations like during the breakup of Yugoslavia, such bloodshed had never been seen in the last 70 years until then. I'm not a Russian nationalist but an European nationalist I feel like the smaller nations should not pick sides in order for protection but there should be no fear of an invasion, I'd like to see the preservation of our different cultures while living in harmony and not fighting with each other but fighting with countries like China, now with this war of influence going on Russia is forced to be mildy friendly with other nations it borders so at least she has some allies if a war breaks out, as you said the real damage is done to the smaller nations while Russia and NATO would make money by selling their weapons, I'm totally against war between Europeans but I want all of us to unite once and raise our birth rates and show the world our dominance, by being United yet respecting our own cultures and traditions.

I'm afraid Putin is the only leader that can keep Russia united otherwise the Chechens and Dagestanis would cause havoc, the people also have this cultural thought of having a strong leader that rules with an iron fist. From what I've experienced I can say living in Russia isn't very bad at all even living in a moderate town you'd still have all the amenities. The salaries are low but that is because they keep the ruble weak so to maximize profit during exports and things are 10 times cheaper than their exact counterparts, I know a lot of Russian people don't live a luxurious life but I believe that's because most Russians are pensioners now. Russia's desire of conquest has been fueled by anti-russian feelings and because of our history, without America, NATO has no chance of doing something which makes a blockade for Putin and sanctions don't work here because we have every single natural resource, we manufacture our own things, I believe fueling hatred between Europeans should not be done. The deployment of troops along the border is because of Ukraine and Polands severe criticism of Russia, the crimes of Stalin should not be regarded as the crimes of the Russian people now and yes, I agree that the U. S. S. R stole a lot from the Eastern bloc but it's not like that anymore, the EU does the same thing for example look at Croatia before joining the EU they had great local industries and made a lot of money from their ports but after joing the EU all the money they get is funding from Germany and on the other hand the Serbian dinar isn't as strong but they still have their local industries going on they are still a sovereign nation. Russia is forced to be like this because we are still living in a divided Europe, still living in a war of influence where smaller nations pick sides for protection.

No one wants to get involved precisely because it isn't a proxy war and would be devastating. Russia has placed itself so the only person who can win in that conflict is Russia. Bring in bombers or drones, collateral damage would destroy the Ukraine and any hope of them defending against future border incursions. Bring in troops... with supply lines to and from where? Start slinging cruise missiles at strategic targets, they'll sling them right back. Most likely at Poland first since they're most likely to be the greatest link in any logistics chain.

You Americans forced Ukraine to cede nuclear weapons in 1991 in order to recognize its independence, they agreed on the condition of guaranteeing the integrity of their borders.

I don't fucking care about what you're from and how is life in your country. Here in the US our families are broken, impoverished, work conditions are unstable, jobs don't pay as much as it used to, our culture is just lame, we have the most expensive healthcare in the world and our national debt is almost $30 trillion.
