COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Reuters) - Investigators will continue seeking a motive and possibly release the names of the victims and the shooter on Monday after a Sunday morning massacre at a Colorado home where a man killed six adults and then himself in the presence of children.
The gunman, described as the boyfriend of one of the victims, walked into a birthday party shortly after midnight on Sunday and opened fire before taking his own life, the Colorado Springs Police Department said.
Police arrived to find six people dead plus a seventh who was seriously wounded and died after being taken to a hospital. .
Freddy Marquez told the Denver Post that he had attended the party and all the victims were members of the same extended family who were celebrating the birthdays of Marquez's wife and her brother.Not again!So, apparently a disgruntled boyfriend went to the Birthday Party that he probably wasn't invited to and opened fire killing 6 before he committed suicide. Was it guns to blame or someone's Mental Health that was the issue. People's relationships go sour way too often because people jump into them too fast without really getting to know the person. So they split up just as fast and then someone gets their feelings hurt and goes off and does some harm to someone, usually their ex and their family because maybe their family told them to break up with the boy/girl. To me more than half of all the conflicts we have had through history is because someone's feelings got hurt. So who or what was the blame for this, and most likely most of the shootings that have been in the news almost every day?
It’s too bad we can’t ban mentally ill people, if he didn’t have a gun he probably would’ve just used a machete instead like other crazies have done in the past and maybe not take out so many people but he still would have accomplished what he planned
How about instead we make it easier for mentally ill people to get help? Get more mental health clinics and make it so people with no insurance that covers mental health can get subsidized by the government. I mean they pay people not to work so let's put those back to work and help the people that are usually at the crux of the problem, those with mental illness.
My wife is a counselor and we closed one office at the beginning of this year, trying to get into semi-retirement. She will be operating out of only one location now. She thought she was going to reduce her billable hours! lol She is getting more new clients than ever, and an increasing number are for couples with money problems, and for singles with work problems. Any medical plan must now cover mental health treatments to the same extent as medical treatments. Of course, the companies can get around that by just reducing the coverages on everything right across the board. But, with the COVID shutdowns, the insurance companies HAVE loosened up a bit on the number and extent of "phone sessions" that are allowable, at least for the companies that are still paying (predominantly the "Blues").
Been there, experienced that. Even way before, I worked at a fancy-ass "5* spa" and they deliberately kept our hours down below 24 so they didn't have to pay us a doggone thing. Some of the employees even complained that the company was taking part of their tips when clients used charge cards for the tip, and not cash. Bonus word to the wise: ALWAYS tip in cash and place the tip IN THE WORKER'S HAND, especially if you become a "regular" at a place.

relationship are very touchy subject. Just because it has to do with two or more people. (there's no such thing as a one person relationship, that is basically trying to live with one's self). In any relationship, there's two different personalities or more but have to coincide with each other. if the relationship does not workout, then there was parts of the relationship that didn't work enough to keep the sides of the relationship that did work being successful. What does that mean that the people involved should forget the kind of relationship they had without each other that caused the attempt to pursue it further? That's where we get into where the fault should lie. When you meet someone, you are really start deciding on what you enjoy about the person and whether you can cohabitate. (and no I'm not talking about moving in with each other, sickos). I'm talking about whether you have things in common or not, and whether you enjoy being around the person. Each time you meet or you're around someone, you're either building up your relationship or you're realizing how much space you need to give them. If a relationship ends, it doesn't mean the friendship should end. Never forget there was something that you enjoyed about the other person to the point where you wanted to be around them. If you cannot let the other person be themselves and live their own life, then you're interfering with them intentionally to make them suffer. We may never know what what's going on in the relationship that caused the guy to drop by for the birthday party. One question that came right to mind: how did the person know there was going to be a birthday party there at that time? I mean everyone is considering the person had retribution already in his mind before the night started. What if the guy was invited there, and then treated badly? I've never known someone who would intentionally bring innocent bystanders into a fight, let alone do it in the attempt of traumatizing children.
Everyone gets to know the people in your life, as well as their likes, dislikes, triggers. I can count on two hands how many people I know that are afraid of clowns. Not to mention how many people have minor OCD. if the people there we're really spiteful to the gentleman, is there a possibility they told him about the party, just so that he was the entertainment for them to mentally degrade?
@Fatherhere901 I see one major contributing factor - girls picking piece of crap, controlling, jealous guys to get entangled with. You see it all the time with abused women. You read about it on here with women asking for advice, true or not, so it happens. Girls seem to want BAD BOYS instead of good guys and I have no reason for it except they give good sex maybe? Or maybe they thing they are exciting and can take them away from what they perceive as STRICT PARENTS. But they have no idea what they are getting into. They will lose their freedom to do what they want, see who they want, must have to perform what the guy wants, and who knows, when the guy gets tired of her she gets passed off to human traffic scum bags.
I've definitely seen it with women I've known, ever since seeing women date in high school. And it wasn't until I started getting into psychology that I slowly started to find the reasons behind their choices. It more relates to the conversation everyone has when asking “what do you want for dinner?” and what is the first response everyone gives or hears? (there is your bases on why women pick overruling and controlling men) women, and even men, don't want to be the ones that make decisions. They would rather follow someone then be the one to take responsibility for making the wrong choice. In your comment, you made mention of strict parents. This also could contribute two why most women feel comfortable around controlling men. Because they're used to having their opinion either given to them, or having it contradicted. The only way is for everyone who feels this way is to break the cycle for not supporting your opinion if you're in a relationship like the one you speak about.
Guns are the problem. There are crazy people all over the world but only USA has an issue with mass shootings because every wackjob can EASILY get access to guns in this insane country.
No, it is not guns. You already stated the reason. There are too many crazy people. And why is that? That a lot of health insurance doesn't offer a lot of benefits for mental health. That and coupled with so many people are needing counseling for mental health issues you can't even get into a doctor's/psychologists for an appointment for weeks and so when they need it no help is available. So these people just go off the deep end because they think no one cares. If people got the help they needed it there would be far less shootings.
It's guns. People all over the world have mental health issues. But in other countries, they don't murder people with guns because they don't have access to them. Only in the US does this happen. Why? Because ANYBODY can get a gun very easily in this country. This is elementary school-level logic, Daniela. :) Unless you are being paid by the gun lobby, your argument makes zero sense. @supercutebutt The US has higher gun related deaths in the US, but of those which are related to crime, drugs, and gangs? A lot of other countries don't have guns so they just hack people to death with a machete. To be sure, there are quite a few countries where gun violence is a substantially larger problem than in the United States — particularly in Central America and the Caribbean. Drug trafficking may also be a factor in two Asian countries that have unusually high rates of violent gun deaths for their region, the Philippines and Thailand.
The U. S. gun violence death rate is also higher than in nearly all countries in sub-Saharan Africa, including many that are among the world’s poorest. With Biden letting in millions of immigrants you can expect gun deaths in the US to remain steady, as illegal immigrants are responsible for many rapes, robberies, and other crimes. If the US really wanted to end gun violence they would do as what Daniela suggested, get better mental health care. I don't know what it is, but people in the US seem to be more stressed than in other countries. And make no mistake about it, most shooters are mentally ill. But even without guns these people can still kill. I have read where these exes who want to kill their girlfriend, or husband/wife stab them up to 40 times in their rage. So again, these people are either very pissed at someone, or very ill. But I will agree with one thing, more restrictions on gun ownership is needed and less of the police ignoring people telling them that someone may go on a rampage.
@JuliaStyles You forgot Mexico. The cartels kill thousand per year that get in their way. The police now wear masks so they can't be identified and killed by the cartel henchmen.

Well, it's like the concept of the Darwin Awards, right? Survival of the fittest. If the dumb die because they can't grasp logic, then they can't reproduce and they can't shoot us. Am I right?
You are probably right if a person has no idea how to use a gun. However you can read plenty of stories in the news how a gun saved someone's life - not only their own life, but saved someone else's life, such as when a person was being savagely beaten with a tire iron on the ground and a passerby came to their aid and the attacker turned the tire iron on them. The passerby was able to pull a legally concealed weapon and kill his attacker. I have read where even kids killed someone who was attacking their family in a home intrusion. What would you do in a situation when some would be kidnapper armed with a knife was dragging your little sister to a car at the curb and there was a gun handy by the door? Would you let him take her, maybe never to be seen alive again, or grab the gun and try to save her? I can see why people don't like guns but the way the country is going I can also see why people are buying them.
You do realize that more people die a year from smoking - 420,000 - than all the gun deaths in the last 10 years. So why is there no uproar about that? Or do you smoke?
Anything is possible. You do notice that a lot of shootings are by ex employees who got fired for some reason. No longer is it postal, and hasn't been for a long time, it is every disgruntled worker who is out to get those who, in their minds, screwed them.
The liberals want guns to be like 2001 Space Odessy. Where the gun senses how you feel and denies access. "You are in a bad mood today Dave", "You can't have a gun".
