My father lived in Kaliningrad during the last of Soviet times, so I've heard and also seen footage of mass vacancies and mass brain drain complemented by mass unemployment but that was because capitalism and three wars were thrown at the Russian people in a period of 6 months.

Everything changed overnight and more than 10 million military surplus weapons had piled up which made their way into the black market by corrupt oligarchs as the government lost control and then in the hands of the terrorists.

the republicans voted against minimum wage--this is the result. i bet they figured you'd be too stupid to understand that and just blame democrats, Biden and, socialism... again.

Do you want the welfare of the nation or the welfare of crackheads? The American minimum wage is meagre in most areas excluding the main cities because prices change in America per state and county. It's that same paycheck mentality that ruined my glorious nation since 1912.
- +1 y
many are saying that's the reason they won't work. fact is that refusing the raise minimum wage caused the exact issue you feared. plus, Executives have come out and said raising minimum wage INCREASES production: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpqHi2YkqGs

First thing you should do is kick all the illegal immigrants out and give those entry level jobs to American citizens and instead of paying unemployment benefits in cash pay it in food and residence stamps. In Russia if an illegal Central Asian is found working in a construction site he's thrown in jail and sent off back home at notice. We don't even let them rent an apartment without paperwork let alone while Americans let them vote without Id. A strong radical leader is needed to govern a wild wasteland full of assholes we call a country. As trump said America first and America for American.
- +1 y
uh... i hate to tell ya this... but Trump and his family is known to ''hire'' illegal immigrants --he 's married to one and his mother was one, as well as the fact we had an estimate of 10 million illegals last year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdsEd71ecvo and didn't Trump side with Putin over his own Intelligence? plus, we still lost jobs under him at a faster rate than we did under Obama--ask farmers how they're doing due to the trade war... those who didn't kill themselves. not to mention the fact most of his shit is made in China--in fact, while we were having a hard time with getting ppe--he was giving some to China. so please... spare me his America bull shit.

"I will point out that the last administration paid them even more not to work."
That was BEFORE the last administration developed the Trump vaccine in record time. - +1 y
''record time"" wasn't it supposed to be delivered early November? we got it in December. addionally, he also couldn't reach his goal of 20 million people vaccinated--it was 13.5 million Americans vaccinated for COVID, falling short of 35 million goal. .
- +1 y
@Sabretooth It was really supposed to take two or three years.
Opinion Owner+1 yThe last administration did not ”develop” any vaccine. They threw some money at the drug companies to help with testing, money Pfizer didn’t even take... and they were first out of the gate. Besides, what has a vaccine got to do with giving people more money on unemployment than they made while working? My brother was laid off during the pandemic under Trump. With the extra payment that Trump openly supported, he was bringing home more money laid off and didn’t want to go back when his company reopened. It was no different than what’s happening now, except the benefits are less generous. Facts are stubborn things.

Bullshit Pfizer received a contract for $1.95 BILLION from President Trump's Operation Warp Speed, the most successful vaccine development program in history.
And OWS produced not one but THREE vaccines in less than 1/3 of the time that experts said it could be done.
Had it not been for that contract, Pfizer would not have produced a vaccine and neither would the other drug companies. It was President Trumps incredible vision and initiative that produced the Trump vaccine in record time.
Yes, facts are stubborn things. You should learn them. - +1 y
"In July, Pfizer got a $1.95 billion deal with the government’s Operation Warp Speed, the multiagency effort to rush a vaccine to market, to deliver 100 million doses of the vaccine. The arrangement is an advance-purchase agreement, meaning that the company **won’t get paid** until they deliver the vaccines. Pfizer **did not** accept federal funding to help develop or manufacture the vaccine, unlike front-runners Moderna and AstraZeneca.
Pfizer has distanced itself from Mr. Trump and Operation Warp Speed. In an interview on Sunday, Kathrin Jansen, a senior vice president and the head of vaccine research and development at Pfizer, said, “We were never part of the Warp Speed,” adding, “we have never taken any money from the U. S. government, or from anyone.”"
www.nytimes.com/.../...s-operation-warp-speed.html - +1 y
I would say that taking a $1.95 billion contract from President Trump's program is anything BUT distancing. Money talks. The rest is bullshit.
- +1 y
They would not have attempted to "sell it elsewhere" without a contract. And no one else was offering them a contract because scientists said it couldn't be done and the Democrats were saying "Follow the science... it's impossible!" If not for President Trump's vision there would still be no vaccine to this day. 36 million people were vaccinated while President Trump was still in office. One million people a day and accelerating. It was an effort similar to that of WWII and President Trump's accomplishment on just developing the vaccine, not to even mention all of his others, is one of the greatest accomplishments of any president in US history.

No one wants that foreign vaccine shit. I've already had three people I talk to online in other countries telling me how lucky I am to be able to get the Pfizer vaccine and that they are trying to leave their country so they can get it.

They don't want the socialist vaccine, they don't want the communist vaccine, they want the vaccine that was the product of the greatest capitalist nation on the planet, America... the country and capitalist system that not only came up with the first safe and effective vaccine, but had THREE OF THEM.
- +1 y
The Trump administration funding of vaccine development, and particularly the funding of mass production in parallel with testing was no doubt a good thing that boosted availability, and I credited him with that at the time. Is it possible Trump has finally done something right in this pandemic? ↗
However.
The first available vaccine was the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. It was developed without money from the US government, and it was developed in Germany by Turkish immigrants. It is not "socialist"; it was developed in order to make money and save lives, possibly even in that order.
The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine was developed in England, at an institute named for the person who invented the first ever vaccine, Edward Jenner.
The Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine was developed by Janssen Vaccines in Leiden, Netherlands, Europe.
The Moderna vaccine is all-American!
There are also Russian and Chinese vaccines.
Opinion Owner+1 y@RingOfFire Bullshit is right. The US government purchased already developed vaccines from Pfizer. Pfizer took no Operation Wstp speed money in its development. Can you please make even a cursory effort to know what you’re talking about before posting? That’d be great.
- +1 y
I can't believe I am wasting time with a dumb kid.
Pfizer DID take money to develop the vaccine. Having a contract in hand is the same thing as receiving money. That's how business works. They funded the development through a loan against that contract. If President Trump had not granted them that contract there would have been no vaccine. They took the contract. They took the money. Someday maybe you will learn something about how business works. Meantime, have a nice day.
Opinion Owner+1 yThere would have been no vaccine without Trump? The vaccine was already developed and clinical trials began in April 2020. The purchase contract didn’t happen until July. I may be young but I can smell your bullshit a mile away. Peddle it somewhere else.

11 Reply- +1 y
It's the right technical answer from economics, but the wrong political answer from reality.
They understand it very clearly. The Democrats are trying to create a welfare state where people are dependent on a party of elite Washington Democrats for their sustenance. The more people they can force onto welfare the more control they have over them and the more power (and money) they have. The Democrat elite, who have now thrown in with communism, saw the pandemic as their once in a lifetime opportunity to parlay their socialist/communist agenda into reality and they are assaulting America as fast and as hard as they can.

- +1 y
Yes I am against the minimum wage which is just another form of welfare paying people more than they job they are doing is worth. And at the same time it keeps other people on welfare because employers can't afford to hire them. And at the same time it keeps young people from getting jobs where they can learn skills before they have enough skills to be worth the minimum wage. And at the same time it causes employers to have to raise the price of everything they sell to pay the extra wages so that the price of everything consumers buy goes up. This is especially bad for the poorest people because they pay a higher share of their income for everyday needs than everyone else... and as the minimum wage increases their money buys less. Minimum wage is a corrupt policy created by unions to keep people out of the workforce so their members can demand more money and corrupt Democrat politicians who are in bed with the unions.
- +1 y
