u If you have justice being dispensed by humans, there is always the possibility of a rogue judge who rules contrary to what any other judge would do. Also, there are occasionally circumstances which produce results like this which can be understood only if you know more about the facts of the case. Pointing out ONE case such as this is not an indictment of the American judicial system. Since you have not given us any information to identify the case, I cannot understand the result but I do not automatically accept your characterization and conclusions, since you obviously have an anti-American bias.
I don't know what country is your home, but I doubt that it's judicial system is error-free.
In this particular case, by virtue of "sexual assault" being a very wide spectrum of crime. That your country fails to separate "brutal rape" from "not noticing that someone you're making out with has passed out because you're both drunk as hell" is regrettable; but it turns out that Americans are smart enough to understand the difference.
Our laws have unfortunately not caught up; we do not yet have degrees of sexual assault. But judges do, in fact, have brains, and the capacity to form their own judgements.

False sense of achievement and strength. American system is able to paint the picture of safety for women. The safety which is not there. Which may not be there? There are way less known crime prevention measures than laws about what to do after crime happened.
I'm sorry if it bursts the little bubble of self pity and victimhood you love to live in, but the average sentence for a man found guilty of rape in the US is 9.8 years.
That fact obviously comes as a surprise to you. But I'm curious to know whether you take it as good news because American men who do bad shit are in fact being held accountable, or as bad news because it doesn't support your sad little victim narrative?

This is why it is important to pay attention to judicial elections. Sadly too few people do; so this judge will probably be retained and continue to give rapists lenient sentences.
