Every time a significant opposite trait (other than physical ones), popped up, it created a rift in the relationship.
For me the only valid time opposites attract is with gender, I prefer someone who is just like me mentally.

I prefer someone who thinks like me but has different interest than me. It’s fun to do things with someone you’ve never tried before. I don't know but that’s just me

I don't think it is the case every time, we aren't like magnets or the general electricity rule of opposites attract, we do however have situations where we make a biased choice of people due to them having a personality trait that is unlike our own, in other times we also click well with ones that are exactly the same as our own, like a matching pair.

Personally I believe it depends on the personality trait, I am very analytical and having two people over analysing each others actions in a relationship just causes a disaster.

I am also paranoid, so why would you want to match two of those together? A paranoid person needs a supportive individual who is able to keep them calm, having a second paranoid person just makes you both even worse off.

I am however very extroverted and sociable, that is something I would like in a partner but I also find from previous people I have taken an interest in they were the introverted types and I liked them because I found their introverted nature and awkward social behaviour cute.

I am playful and I would definitely need my partner to also have this trait, if they were a type that did not like being silly and playing without fear of being made fun of what they look like, then I could not actually form much of a relationship with them.

Everytime i meet someone who says “hey we may be opposites but opposites attract”. I cringe. I just know i won't talk to them 2 weeks from now 😂 but i let it play out anyways. I prefer a dang near twin
