Yeah, I was an FDR/JFK-style Democrat, myself, all my life. I was a strong supporter of the civil rights movement. I supported women's lib efforts and LGBT rights. I was/am anti-war and anti-imperialism. I used to identify as strongly liberal. My core values actually haven't changed much.

The Democrats turned against the American people when Bill Clinton and the party embraced Reagan's neoliberalism.

When Obama turned out to be Dubya II, I finally concluded that the party was irredeemable. It disdains the U. S. constitution and the American people but gas lights us into thinking it has benevolent intentions.

Over the past 10+ years, I have seen liberalism be co-opted by the evil Democratic party. Those liberals who consume mainstream media became unthinking ideologues. At the same time, those liberals like me, who retained the liberal ideas of open mindedness and tolerance, who explored beyond mainstream media, and weren't swayed by group think, distanced themselves from the shrill, intolerant, unthinking ideologues. They no longer wanted to be defined by labels.

In recent years, we saw BLM get co-opted by admitted Marxists who want to tear down America. We saw the LGBT rights movement get co-opted by a radical transsexual agenda. We saw Democrats do a 180 degree turn and advocate for open borders.

I think all such things are guided by a globalist agenda that intends to divide American citizens against each other, destroy the economy, and do away with the constitution in order to usher in a dictatorial, One World Government New World Order.

Just like the idea of teaching impressionable young children about gender fluidity and alt-sexuality, CRT is another means to mess with kid's heads. Instead of teaching them useful skills and information and critical thinking in school, they are being socially engineered.

This is what the Democratic party seems to embrace and what so-called liberals have fallen for.

Advocates of CRT say it is all about teaching "true" history, which I would be in favor of, because history has tended to be very shallow and unbalanced. It doesn't inspire broad thinking. But I think the intention of CRT is to create an "alt" history, a new mythology, that breeds victimhood, resentment, further racism, and division.

The exclusive focus on racism is insane. Of course kids should learn about the history of racism in this country. But bigotry toward African descendants does not define America. Not to diminish it's horrors, but it is a fraction of the complete history of this country.

What about indigenous people, Asians, and ethnic groups like Italians, Irish and Latinos? And what about ALL the factors that led to the Civil War, as well as other things like the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, union efforts during the early part of the 20th century, the New Deal and Great Society programs, the rise of neoliberalism, etc. It's absolutely wrong to say that only non-whites have suffered from inequality and oppression. It's wrong to discount all the good that many "whites" have done to make this country a better place for everyone.

When we talk about history, we should be honest. But I think we should focus on America's founding documents that make progress toward justice possible, and the people who have sacrificed to make those values set forth in the Declaration of Independence a reality.

We have made tremendous progress and we still have much more to do. A grasp of history is essential in teaching us how we got here and where we want to go. But focusing only on the negative, acting like victims, and pointing fingers is counterproductive.

I skimmed the video. It uncritically quotes Chris Rufo, who made up this fuss in the first place. The Republican bills that supposedly ban "CRT", ban teaching many other things that should be taught at highschool level. That's what's being opposed; it's just shorthand.

The point is what "this" is. The right wing (Chris Rufo) took something taught at college level, and declared it to be the name for anything about racism taught at schools. Republican lawmakers then used it as a wedge, and proposed legislation to stop teaching truths they don't like, calling it CRT. Then, when teachers' unions use that term to mean what the right pretends it means, the right pretend that they were right all along, and the reasonable syllabus that was being taught (that they don't like) was CRT.

It's pretty transparent, and similar to their fits about sex and lgbt education.

Some states didn't allow teachers to teach that slavery was the main reason for the civil war, or described slaves as immigrant labourers or some such euphemism. These "anti-CRT" bills seem to be trying to return to those, inaccurate, teachings.

I don't think it's legally available online, it's a bestselling book. Maybe the workbook is, but it won't make sense without reading the book. I'm of two opinions on the matter. Black Lives Matter, as do Latino lives, Asian lives, and all other ethnicities that call this country home. I too am an FDR liberal Democrat, but putting one ethnic group over others is unConstitutional. This is why "no-knock warrants", and bullshit traffic stops, that lead to the death or detaining of black individuals must also be declared unconstitutional.

This can be argued out in courts until the cows come home but it still doesn't alter the fact that blacks, especially, are targeted by white cops disproportionately from other ethnic groups in our population.

Should this be taught to school children? Only if a child, at an early age, shows racist tendencies. But through high school, there should be open discussions about how the races interact together. I imagine that some schools in this country would balk at the concept, but that's precisely why it should be part of the curriculum, even if it means hiring more liberal teaching staff.

There a bunch of core texts that CRT people / sjws use, and you can trace all that back through feminism, communist writings, the Frankfurt school, Antifaschistische Aktion, and so on.

But just look at the video in the update, it's a good example of what the more recent texts tell you. It's garbled word salad mean to rake you in with a desperate need to be a good person and confuse you with nonsense -- with only the "priests" to make sense of it for you, much like how historical priests dictated to illiterate masses.

If you really want to wade in to the toxic cesspool, then those will be the texts to read.
But you give a little more detail from everything I've seen and read over the last 6 years or so...
It's an identitarian ideology. The immutable facets that compose you such as racial background, sex, and sexuality, are used to reference a framework which prescribes who holds power and who does not -- The "Progressive Stack". That will then dictate how everyone is supposed to react to you and what you are entitled to by society, etc. Simple examples of this would be white people *as a whole* being deemed more powerful, therefore people with fair skin must pay more money for things or be submissive to the people deemed less powerful -- such as the dark skinned people. As a black person you're considered entitled to "reparations" (which will deliberately be interpreted broadly) and you should expect other races to capitulate to you and "make room" for you.

Generally, this ideology wants to make those sweeping collectivist decisions about society, but it will frequently make exceptions for believers vs non-believers. You can see this manifest as cancel culture; white people who say the right things will be tolerated over black people who say the wrong things. So it's very much tribal, quite similar to a cult -- inconsistent ideas with protecting the cohesion of the cult (the "family") at the core of everything that's done. The goal being to make everyone submit to these ideas and provide power, status, validity, to the most loyal adherents. Which brings us back to power, it's all about power, everything they do is framed in terms of power; who as it, who deserves it, and redefines everything as necessary to shift power to themselves -- this relates to why you see them speak in those garbled word salads. It's not about reality, truth, or being right, it's about power for their leaders and their followers. The best way to make an ideology take hold in society is to teach it to the young as fact, and the video shows you just one example of how they do that.

So now, when you notice all the people saying "there's no CRT being taught in schools", you know they're either lying or being deliberately ignorant. Look for the signs I've described and notice how pervasive the ideology is. Mainstream media and corporations are rank with Critical Theory rhetoric and the most prominent early consequences of it are BLM and Antifa permitted to riot and terrorize. It's going to be a strange and perverse society if entire generations of kids take on these beliefs.
