How is Indians offensive? I have never seen Native Americans complain about it. They don't , it is leftest weirdos that are complaining. Maybe 3% of the population. They have been Cleveland Indians for 125 years. Just another way the left can damage history and tradition in US.
Actually , they were paying tribute to Native Americans that fought to keep their way of life unlike other groups that gave up.
I can't wait until they say the Constitution is racist , sexist , and discriminates and they throw it out along with all their rights. No more Major League movies. They won't be able to show that movie anymore. Again Left overreacting and inventing another crisis.

You would get a lot more sympathy if you didn't post such nonsense. Words have meanings. You can't just call every single thing you don't like or disagree with "socialism". That's stupid.
Is this political correctness gone too far? I don't think so. Considering that some teams have left cities, and moved to more lucrative parts, I think the fans would rather lose the world "Indian" then "Cleveland", and watch the team move.
And yet when teams do move, no one screams that it's socialism, probably because it's capitalism at its finest - the team goes where the money is.
Changing the name to Guardians allows them to rebrand all their merchandise, and like Classic coke, the old labelled stuff may acquire more value on the souvenir secondary sale market.
If the team winds up making more money from this, it will be seen as Capitalism at work. It will be interested to see their share price, and how much revenue is generated from merchandise over say the next 5 years.
It's all part of the government agenda so that they can tell us what is good for us and what to believe. But of course they will never take a vote on it to see how many people are really offended or if they are proud that their race has so many sports teams named after them. After all doesn't sports speak endurance and pride? Who wouldn't want to be associated with that?
@Daniela1982 They took a vote in Houston on whether to tear down the Astrodome and build a new stadium and the people said no. So, they built the new stadium anyway. They never listen to the people except the election year, and even then they lie on what they are going to do if reelected.
They do the chop in Atlanta, not in Cleveland. And, actually, it has been years since there has been any imagery related to Native American history / culture done at Cleveland Indians baseball games.
It sure is a no brainer!! They did not use their brains on this decision, removing the Indians from the name is a sign of disrespect. The name honored the Indians.

I think it is disrespectful to change the name, calling the team the Cleveland Indians was a sign of respect. People without brains made this decision to virtue signal, they have no respect for any group, just want to follow the woke crowd.
