In the USA slavery is legal especially the military. Even so, we are all slaves since almost everything we might want to do is either prohibited or requires the government's permission. Name anything you can do that doesn't require a license or building permit; and, name anything you can own that the state can't take if you don't pay taxes. You don't even own your children as the state can take them for any reason they (not you) deem necessary.
