Its a terrible issue.. but it clearly has some explanations
1. The Afghan Government was terribly corrupt, incompetent, and completely incapable of handling the insurgency. The ANDSF (though full of brave forces like the SF) was inept, largely due to its leadership. In many cases they lacks resources (due to elites siphoning funds), or were forced to surrender due to greed (such as Elites demanding them surrender, while turning over cities to Taliban... in some cases they fought but ran out of resources).. This was the Afghan owned part of the failure. They had the resources to secure their nation, but ultimately failed miserably.. due to a mix of incompetence... greed... corruption... and an unwillingness to combine forces (Ghani for example put many YES MEN in his posts.. as opposed to qualified figures). This created a Government and security apparatus that would collapse immediately without consistent American aid...
2. The USA (particularly Biden) deserves blame for the mishandling of the withdrawal It was necessary to remove forces.. and the war had been Afghan owned for 7+ years (meaning the USA played a minor role, with Afghan security handling the majority of the conflict... since 2014) However, Biden's inaction in the clear breaking of the peace by the Taliban only further emboldened them.. and demoralized our allies. His handling of removing our forces was beyond pathetic as well
The USA could have withdrawn in a good position, and left the Afghan Government in a position to better defend itself (for example, with contractor support, or air support). However, Biden decided on none of it.. and the entire structure collapsed under its own corruption.
The Taliban didn't take over because of their strength but instead the ineptness of Ghani, and Biden.
2,000 USA soldiers were enough to scare the shit out of the Taliban... to make them unwilling to take major offensives
However, once Biden made it clear he didn't care What did the Taliban have to fear?
Thanks to the U. S. for recruiting, arming and training the fundamentalist Islamic Taliban hords in the 1970s in order to overthrow the government that was on friendly terms with the USSR. We wanted to give the USSR a taste of its own Viet Nam.
Before then, Afghanistan was progressive. Many people wore western-style clothing. Girls attended college wearing what we would consider to be normal clothing with no head coverings.
But after the Taliban pushed out the USSR and overthrew the government, they instituted Sharia law, forced women to wear full burkas, banned education and music, tortured and murdered thousands, and carried out a rein of terror. Afghanistan was plunged into the Dark Ages.
When the U. S. invaded Afghanistan after 911 to "defeat terrorism", it fucked up the country even more. Now the Taliban are back. I feel very sorry for the wonderful Afghani people. Thanks USA.
Unfortunately, this country (Afghanistan) was pretty much doomed. Their own government were doing all kinds of shady and disgusting crap with the Taliban even with the u. s. troops there. Ideology of extremism wins out in the end. But this should have ended so very long ago. Could there have been a better way to evacuate all Americans from that country? I don't know but I also dont think so. It's always been historical knowledge that the shit end of the stick are always those indirectly involved. Casualties.

Many have arrived in Kabul just this week, following a five-day Taliban blitz that has seen them seize eight provincial capitals -- some with barely a fight.
The base problem is the Afghani unwillingness to fight, and if they do they switch sides in the middle of battle if they are losing or fighting against their cousin Omar.
I don’t totally agree that they didn’t want to fight. I think the bigger issue it wasn’t their idea to become a democracy. To get the society they had the Chinese had to endure a lot of suffering. And they were willing to plunge their country into darkness. The government had to acquiesce.
It has been said, if you are not a liberal by age 20, you have no HEART. If you are not a conservative by age 30, you have no BRAIN. The US has spent over $2 trillion dollars on the war in Afghanistan. Over 6,700 US citizens died in the war, another 20,000 recovering from wounds. The problem is the leaders the US put in power in Afghanistan were corrupt - they embezzled money, used their power for nepotism and to do corrupt things, like grow opium, etc. The funds got diverted. The US had the same problem in Vietnam.
Biden is responsible for so many deaths, it ain't funny. What's a few thousand more? What's the wasted lives, and limbs of our soldiers? People want the easy route. Anyone that expected Afghanistan to be fast is an idiot. We took a people that've lived under iron fists for decades, if not centuries, and expected them to stand on the their own two feet in a couple days. That's akin to telling your toddler to meet you on the other side of the the highway. And just like your toddler would get, they got plowed.
It’s terrible they have to go through this and I’m sure the US didn’t help their situation much possibly made it worse for them I really don’t know but I don’t understand if they’re going to kill themselves anyways why not start your own little militia and die fighting. I really don’t have a clue about what’s happening over there since Covid hit I’ve been focusing on keeping my family healthy

They did not have many choices. Here were their choices: 1- Have a foreign government rule them either directly or indirectly by putting a puppet of theirs as the leader of that country 2- Have it ruled by Afghans which is what just happened 3- There was no third choice
America occopied Afghanistan by force with help og its puppets, Now Tanban, the real Afghans, Sons of the Soil, have defeated terrorist America, so now America is running out from Afghanistan as from Vietnam. So puppet Afghans are trying to run away to save their lives and entering the American airplane

Nobody can choose the circumstances of how they arrive into this world. If there is a strong enough desire to change it though, they can change it. The question is are they prepared to die for it?

USA should have kept fighting. Death totals were low. Roughly 20 American soldiers were dying there every year. That's nothing.
