Why do people not realise that the victim blaming argument makes no sense?

For example imagine if this sign said "How about instead of protecting Afghans we teach the Taliban not to be terrorists" ? Pretty dumb right? Well this is the exact same argument you are using for rape. You can't teach a bad person not to do bad things.

I say you can. Most people who are evil are also in a state of closed mindedness. Raised sometimes from birth to be a tyrant in one way or another. Each branch of extreme evil, from mass murderer to rapist, there has to be something to help them knock themselves into a better look on life. I think it's our society that doesn't know how to help and so we shun them except they dont care anymore. Even if they were to be freed at some point who'd give a shit. Someone would just have him killed at some point. They're gone from morality. But I mean just being on your own trying to make a living can turn a normie into a monster. And with how animalistic sex can get the morals just drop all around us really. Government never seems to really care. Makes you kill yourself or do something worse if the right triggers are pressed. So press the triggers to make them better. Except the order of things gets in the way and noone has to sympathize anymore. We'd always rather shun, hate and kill them before the understanding.

That's like saying "teach people not to murder" as if that would prevent murders. Murderers know that murder is illegal and wrong - they just don't care. They feel entitled to do whatever they want and don't care what society's rules are.

The same is true with rape, assault, fraud, theft, and other crimes. Everyone knows they're illegal, but some simply don't care.

That's why you can't rely on a solution where criminals will choose not to commit crimes. You also can't count on people who are themselves criminals to teach their kids proper morals and values.

Sure, you make a valid point that people should be taught not to do bad things. But the fact is that people will still do them. I'm not justifying shitty behavior only stating that it will never stop. And it isn't victim blaming to teach people how to avoid being victimized.

Nature vs nurture is a question of weather a person is born the way they are or taught. I think in most cases behavior is taught.

This is way more of a psychological issue than a nature or nurture one entirely.

You can't teach a PTSD patient how to get over their trauma.
You can't teach an ADHD patient how to get over their symptoms.
Ya can't teach a fool how to be wise, because it's not your decision to change.

You can't teach a rapist not to rape, because they don't do it out of ignorance, they do it because something isn't right in their head.

Yeah this whole “teach boys not to rape” shit is as stupid as it is insulting. Most behavior is learned so i'm backing nurture over nature in the majority of cases very few people are born bad they learn negatives from what they see around them most of the Taliban have been groomed all or most of their lives to that ideology rapists are very different normally and quite often were abuse victims themselves when younger ( obviously there are exceptions to every rule )

There are hundreds of studies that go back and fourth over decaids trying to determine if behavior is learned or not. Its all pretty up in the air considering there is no reasonable control test one can compare to, the closest they can manage are twins, but even that is super fuzzy.

The Taliban don't teach kids how to be evil, they condition the desire to grow and mature out of them until nothing is left.
Behavior is learned yes, but that doesn't speak to which behavior a child chooses to learn or why.
Its not teaching ideology to children that turns someone into a Taliban member, it's the mental conditioning, removal of empathy, psychological abuse, physical torture, blackmailing, and exposure to death & gore that makes a Taliban.

Its not because they were taught how to be inhuman, it's that the humanity was forcibly removed from their psyche.

I think also hyper-sensitive people seem to focus too much on sides. It seems like they conceive of the world as though it's supposed to be ideal, where you can leave your door unlocked and not increase your chances of being robbed, or get to the point of passed out drunk in a party full of questionable strangers and not get your wallet stolen or raped, or anything of this sort. And yeah, that's how the world should work. But it doesn't, and it probably never will.

So my advice is based on the idea that the world isn't ideal, it's filled with some very nasty people lacking a conscience, and how to protect ourselves from the world as it actually is, and not how it should be. But this "victim-blaming" thing has become like a wildfire that stifles such advice.

There is some minor legitimacy to the idea of "victim-blaming" as I see it, with a minority of vocal assholes who truly legitimize the concept. But for the most part I've seen the people who wield the term starting to use it like a weapon to avoid taking responsibility for their own actions in an imperfect world.

The victim blaming thing is just another example of the hypocrisy of feminism. They constantly push the message that women are strong and capable but then out of the other side of their mouths they essentially say that women are helpless victims who bare no responsibility for their safety.
