Short answer: yes it is a mix between totalitary ideology and religion.
Long answer:
If we look at all the populist movements, whether on the right such as Fascism and Nazism or on the left such as Marxist Lenninist communism and Maoist communism, we find a victim ideology at the base.
According to which there is an external group that has a will to create injustice towards the victim group. Therefore the victim group has the legitimate possibility to oppose and annihilate it.
In Fascism this group was represented by the Demo Plutocratic powers asnd their classic liberal ideology that had mutilated the victory of Italy in the First World War, so the Italians had to be able to take revenge.
For the Nazis it was the Jewish conspiracy that made the Germans lose the First World War, with the collapse of the Empire and then caused the crisis of '29. As victims of the Jews, the Germans assumed the right to exterminate them.
For Communism the people are victims of the bosses, therefore the people led by the party arrogated to themselves the right to exterminate first the bosses, then the so-called enemies of the people, whose enmity was defined by the party, leading to the extermination of millions of people.
For Maoism (that is a mix of fascism and communism or an ultra nationalist communism), the Chinese are victims of foreign powers, who want to subdue and humiliate them. Therefore the Chinese can and must do whatever it takes to not allow him to humiliate them.
Things like that can also be seen in religions. The Christians told of having been used as circus beasts and mauled by lions in letters from Ignatius of Antochia of dubious authenticity. However, this was enough for the church to put on the victim's dress. Punishing anyone who was not Christian first tens of thousands of Europeans, heretics or pagans, then participating in one of the greatest genocides in history, namely that of the populations of pre-Columbian America.
The new Islamist is also a victimizer. With arguments such as Islam is the victim of the Western or American satan, they are always the victims and report that extreme cherrypicking conflicts in which Muslims are defeated by infidels, while magically they never speak of the persecutions they continue to do towards those who do not follow. their religion, because they are good and just while others are bad.
The masochistic and religious nature of victimhood has today changed its sign. Post-modern victimhood acts transversely and implies adherence to an ideology according to which the culprit, who can be identified in many ways. He can be for example like the corrupt, the fascist, the xenophobic, the wicked, the impure, the dishonest, the miserly, the greedy, the thief, the violent, the white, the male however he is always the Other.
Freed from the straitjacket of the morality of resentment, he has become a deadly gunpowder for all those who mobilize to attribute the blame for their ills to the blatant guilt of the Other.
The post-modern victim claims his offended and trampled rights without ever wanting to confront his responsibilities. As if he were a small child and therefore irresponsible. Rather than grieve with his own sense of guilt, he accuses those who should have guaranteed his failure to fulfill him.
Dejected and angry, the victim roars like a lion against those who would be responsible for his or his country's misfortunes. The victim never asks himself questions about his responsibilities, since if he did it would be an admission of his own possible faults. He asks himself different questions, that is, he asks what are the faults of the Other?
Victimization is a mass mask of a human being unable to face reality, if something is wrong, a culprit must be found and this culprit must never coincide with himself.

This one can be answered relatively briefly. In short, no. "Wokism," rather, is an outward popular expression of various philosophical ideas and ideologies, some of which certainly do conduce to totalitarianism.
However, "wokism" as such has no criteria of ideas or theoretical constructs behind it. It is, in a nutshell, merely the name that has been popularly applies to an aggregation of attitudes and ideas.
Look up "wokism" and you will find, perhaps, a list of do's and don'ts. Things you should say and things you should avoid saying. However, it has no philosophical argument - perhaps beyond a watery, if intensely expressed and vague sensitivity to the imagined feelings of certain groups who have been deemed discriminated against or somehow oppressed.
To call "wokism" a philosophy or an ideology is to give it more credit than the evidence will bear. Unlike even the totalitarian ideologies - see also Fascism, Communism, National Socialism as the most famous - "wokism" has no thinkers who give it a theoretical framework. Thus is becomes mere sentiment masquerading as serious thought.
Have totalitarian ideologies used what is now called "wokism"? Yes, insofar as these ideologies seek to create a political and/or social system that controls thought by controlling language. However, "wokism" lacks even that level of self-awareness.
Does that mean "wokism" is potentially quite dangerous? Yes, at least in societies where the precepts of democracy, human rights and so forth are not deeply rooted in the culture. However, in most of the West, "wokism" is more likely to prove a fad or a fashion - a popular expression of what is right and wrong - than it is of anything more sinister.
It's hilarious watching people lose their mind, when people call them out.
And this always reminds me of the statement.
A hit dog will holla.
All the people who get worked up about something that says the elite white people created a system to ensure the elite white people keep power, but because the movement wasn't created by white people it's a racist and a way to create totalitarian.
We used to it.
Every time a movement in America was created by black people it is always spinned to be a racist way to overthrow the government.
Hundreds of years and nothing changed. Black people want a piece of the pie and it is tried to be destroyed.
I mean look at the outrage over BET,(y'all didn't want us in ya movies or shows, so we created our own station so we could be represented)
historical black colleges, (y'all didn't want us to go to college so we had to create our own college and yet we still allow white people in ours)
nfl playing the black national anthem.
Black history month. (We ain't want a month about us, we wanted our history including in teaching American history, y'all didn't want us included)
EEOC ( all we wanted was jobs, y'all didn't want us to have jobs unless they were jobs white people didn't want.)
All the actions y'all complain about if ya wouldn't have done us so dirty for 400 years these things wouldn't be in place.
Quit complaining about us trying to be treated fair and treat us fairly.
I swear it's ridiculous hearing people complain about how unfair it is that black people no longer sit back like a good little group of slaves.
Without a doubt. They demand compliance or else they will be violent towards you. It's group think that is geared towards supporting top-down forced control by the government

The question I have is where was this white privilege when I was growing up and even in my adulthood? My younger brother and I where raised by a single mother. My mother has had cancer since she was in her teens. This forced the three of us into poverty and despite our attempts to lift ours lives out of poverty, we couldn't. For many years cancer was legally considered a pre-existing condition. So heath insurance was not a option. Coverage was flat out denied or did not cover anything related to the cancer care.
We where constantly fighting to keep our heads above water and I had my first job in middle school.
Also I had to work my collage. Meaning that I had a full time job on top of everything encompassing collage, my average work week was 100+ hours. Even after graduating collage I worked two jobs to pay down my collage debit and make basic living expenses. Now that I am dealing with some serious medical issues myself I find myself right back where I was growing up. Fighting tooth and nail to keep my head above water. But I'm a white male and have this mythical white privilege. So everything I detailed about above and including my other having cancer should have happened correct? In my opinion there is no difference from "wokism" is no different than the religious freaks who were marching the Queen around nude in Game of Thrones while chanting, "Shame... shame... shame" So yes, it's the exact same thing if not worse.
Wokism has become the new Religion of power in the U. S. and like the Religions before them that they hate so much for attempting to control people through religious laws, they are now doing the exact same thing and using their wokism religion to enforce those laws.
The real problem is that literally half of Americans disagree with Wokism, which is nothing more than a next step version of the political correctness movement. Literally half of Americans are completely against Wokism and Political Correctness. Therefore that is a fight for power they can never win. The more people they convert to their religion, the more there will be people who will fight back against it. What's worse, is that they are ostracizing their own, because they are not woke enough, which chases those people right back to the side of anti-political correctness. It is a vicious cycle.Wokism is increasingly not optional in corporations and education, so is becoming totalitarian. It is the product of intellectual thought originating with the Frankfurt School (Horkheimer, Marcuse, etc.).
It is more interesting to consider why it is embraced and taught by white elites, who one might think would have the most to lose from it. It functions as a mechanism for elite, mostly white, people to pass their status on to their children. The stiff competition for elite college admission from first-generation Asian-Americans threatened the ability of elite children to gain admission on merit. The colleges duly responded by eliminating or limiting the consideration of standardized test results and emphasizing the importance of essays in college applications. The elite children are more thoroughly trained in the details and terminology of wokism, which are constantly changing. This gives them a leg up on more capable competition that does not know the jargon. It also, ironically, allows elite white women to lecture minorities and other women with politically incorrect views about how they have internalized racism or misogyny.Yes it can become one because if you aren´t willing to discuss it and say either you´re following it or not. Because critizing the idea will people cancel you that you can´t understand that... They claim to have all the truth because only they know how it feels like to work through hard times.
Yes I am male and yes I´m white but I also had to fight for respect because teachers preferred girls in school because class mates played tricks on me. We all have to fight (besides we´re rich Bezos, Gates or some dudes...).
But most of us aren´t that much privileged over other us while not being disadvantaged in other parts of life.Lol 'wokeness' is a reaction to whats been happening to people for decades. It wasn't just a bunch of evil feminists, minorities, libtards, freeloader commies, and 'es jay dubbyas' that came up with an evil plot to destroy 'freedom'. You'd have to be blind to have not seen this coming as a reaction to people being dispossessed and oppressed to the point of lunacy in this shithole society. by the way, anti-wokeness is just as cringe 'woke libtard lefty commie sjdubbyas'
Nope. It's not really any sort of ideology.
Like "flat earth" it's something invented by a minority, based on dubious ideals, to appear "superior" to those who do not subscribe to it.
Many people who are supposedly "woke aware" tend to be fuckwits that annoy those around them.Is "wokeism" a thing now? Isn't it just another word, or slander corrupted by the Republicans meant to throw shade on useful terms for discussion?
I really am sick of the Right Wing adopting words and changing their proper definitions, and/or using them for propaganda..That is exactly what it is. I am glad that those on the Left are getting a taste of it now given recent headlines.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TotalitarianismI had to sign up to answer this.
Yeah it is. I got halfway sucked in a few years ago but then if you just think a bit more and weigh it against history and other totalitarian systems, you quickly realize how messed up it is.In short, absolutely.
Even though the term is very deficient from either an ideological or grammatically accurate standpoint, current cultural Marxism has developed an ideology which its adherents use to justify the imposition of tyranny on the society they seek to overtake: that ideology of America’s current contemporary totalitarian left can be called wokeism/wokism.I no longer like going to places that are predominantly white because it’s more likely to get judged. Even Asian, Indian or Latin establishments is less judgmental and white people have the nerve to deny themselves to being the most racist group on the planet.
Yeah, obviously.
It has a ton rules which are often severely punished is not confirmed to and most notably its rulings are often decided along almost arbitrary lines depending on the whims of those the ideology aims to empower.Yes, and people need to stop it in its tracks before it gets too deep into the cracks of the system.
It is dangerous society even as a minority and women or LGBT they would love you if you agree with all of their opinion or they would hate you. They think that it is their responsibility to spread it and they want to silent right wing. it is very dangerous
Wokism is weak people coming together to try and feel powerful, they have the mindset of the borg.
You will be assimilated or destroyed.
Not a lot of free thinking happening there.Wokism is Communism. Communism is always practiced under a totalitarian police state.
Yes, it's another form of Communism, this time cultural rather than economic.
It's sheer stupidity!! In the first place, "woke" (the way they''re using it) iisn't even a word!! In the second place, if they're so "woke" why is it they're so incredibly stupid?
What about non white privilage? I dont get checks from the government for litteraly doing nothing. Or get hired because im black and they need diversity. We work and earn our way. If you won't complete you won't do well in the race period. there's plenty of minoritys that have made a good living with there good work ethic and desire for a better life. Be like them instead of being a leach off of white people
Of course, the concept that a normal intelligent person who hopefully thinks for themselves needs to be woken up from reality demonstrates it’s the land of intellectual nonsense and used to control thoughts and behaviors
