The U. S. has major flaws but one major positive thing it does have its a ton of freedoms unlike many other countries. I feel a lot of people in this country simply don't appreciate the freedoms they have.

It’s kind of “yes, BUT….” for me.

The crux of the issue is that we’re SUPPOSED to have freedom, absolute and unbridled freedom, and it shouldn’t be held and dispensed to us as someone else sees fit. So I’m never going to thank anyone for my freedom, I’m supposed to have it. Like the saying “Freedom isn’t free”, I HATE THAT SAYING, because, whether it is or isn’t free in functional reality, IT’S SUPPOSED TO BE, and I’m never going to adjust my standards to a point where “the best available option” is what constitutes “good enough.” If this is the most free option, it’s still not close to what I’m looking for, and I won’t settle. I demand perfection in the system, or no system at all, I absolutely will not live my life in someone else’s middle ground.

The U. S is doing okay in terms of "freedom". Scoring in at 25th in the Freedom Index for personal freedom. Placing it lower than most of Europe and many Asian countries such as South Korea. For reference there are 31 first world countries last I checked. 25th out of 31 is not a great score.

As a mild criticism this index is compiled by politically invested institutes in the U. S (Cato) and likely has some bias. As a benefit that at least means it is hard to argue the placing should be any better than it is.

I think too many Americans ask for too little and should rightfully be infuriated at their decreasing conditions. I would be.

Poland is having a similar issue. They're becoming more free than most nations. But those who want the bad old days to return have taken up abortion as their hill to die upon. Terrorists who go around with lightning bolt makeup on, because they can't bear that they're losing the culture war in Poland.

Not me. My dad use make us go downtown on Thanksgiving and Christmas and give out food to the homeless.

And I've traveled through this country and seen the poor parts. and I've traveled to Nigeria and Uganda. Granted its not that bad now. But its not my normal California living.

Also when ever I got bad grades or got in trouble in school. My dad use to take me by the prisons and say you keep fucking up that's gonna be you.

yes, most Americans have never been to a socialist or communist country. They have no idea what it is like for the government to control every aspect of their lives.
