But I find it amazing how bright minds are able to adhere to this
How have great intellectuals been able to adhere to the ideologies of a totalitarians regimes?
But I find it amazing how bright minds are able to adhere to this
Because is an ideologi that sound very good and is you had live or are living in a nice environment doesn't seem that imposible.
Look at Russia 1917, ther evrybody have theyr family (mother-father and moust of the time +++6kids) and thous familys live many time in vilages more then citys back then, so moust of the local people from a village know each other and care for each other in general, whitch make them a small comunity.
But when you put this ideology in to a bigger level like, for a city/nation/region... etc. thous people doesn't know each other anymore and think they are betther then other and this is why it can't work.
He seem to have a nice and norma childhood and meet a good wife from an early age, if life will be good whit you but you see how horible is whit other it may make you feel compasion and want them and you to be equal in order for them to not suffer and in order for you to not fall completly in poverty.
the communist manifesto, is a philosophical work that was interpreted by several dictators Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Ceausescu, Castro, Tito, the Kim family... all these interpretations led to the development of communist societies different from each other, some more prosperous others poorer, but in conclusion none able to fully emerge from poverty.
Lenin wanted to lift Russia out of poverty.
Stalin to industrialize it as quickly as possible.
Ceausecu to create a global superpower in his / my country.
Tito wanted to develop his country and keep it united.
They all used brutal methods to impose this ideology, and such delicate control over the masses to achieve communist ideology is impossible for human nature.
Sounds very nice:
- Let's all be special
- We all respect each other
- let's all share what we can and how much we can
and for these reasons everyone wants such a civilization in which to live without difficulties.
That is why many fall into the trap of communism, only those who have experienced communism know exactly what they are talking about when they say that it is a criminal regime and ideology.
I have never lived in a communist regime but this ideology has never seduced me
I like it but it seems so unachievable.
Because i see and had meet even people who don't want to ever give up to absolutly nothing of what they have for others.
They still want to be in control, in power, still want to be on the top and be importand.
What make you to not like it?
Personal i hate the way it had alwase been forced to people when its a way to big plan for human nature
communist regimes are authoritarian and criminal i don't like it
i know, but in the main ideology from the book ther is no leader and all the comunity share and take care of each other and each one of them get just the exact necesary food/money to live and have a normal life.
But in reality somebody need to implementate that a grup of people or a person whitch destabilizate the entire idea. (that why is imposible).
Yeah
but i'm asking you about the philosophical concept, that whas explained in the book
on paper it seems a fair and good idea. But the reality is bad
ok..
You partially answered your own question when you mentioned "intellectuals". George Orwell said (or at least is alleged to have said) that "Some ideas are so stupid that only intellectuals believe them." Some people think that being highly educated somehow excuses them from basic logical principles; it doesn't.
Following from that, knowledge of facts, degrees, and diplomas don't by themselves form consciences or provide peace, purpose, and fulfillment.
Orwell fought with the communists against fascists too. I think there is a difference between communists, who want to help the workers, and fascists who want to murder anyone who isn’t your ethnic group.
Chinese communists are still racist
Fascism embraces human nature and combines it with human potential
@MrPlentiful you’re an idiot. Anyone who thinks fascism is good is a complete moron who has never read a history book in their idiot lives.
You could say the same about liberalism and feminism
@MrPlentiful yeah you're an idiot.

Well because what works on paper isn't necessarily what works in reality. A lot of theory gets incinerated once it's put to practice. Intellectuals spend too much time in books and not enough time in reality, in the real world where this stuff goes on.
Getting public support by exaggerating things or using people they hate to advance their idea/agenda, and by also first speaking calmly and then slowly getting to speaking louder and moving their arms around. Hitler did this, Bernie Sanders did this, Trump did this, and so did many other people. Biden didn’t do this, so no wonder why it was harder for him to gain support from others. Had Biden done this, many more leftists would deny the fact that Biden is a pervert or a pedophile.
Believing one is better equipped to rule the world isn't relegated only to the dumb.
Because general intelligence is just that, general, not universal.
What was De Gualle? Wasn’t he a bit on the socialist side?
Brighter minds are sometimes more apt for brainwashing.
De gaulle socialist? No sir, he was national, in fact he was conservative, he was brought up by a monarchist and catholic family. he was himself. but he gave us social security
But not monarchist
The 5th republic created by de Gaulle, it is often called a republican monarchy. Besides, he was a great reader of Charles Maurras who was a monarchist and who wanted to overthrow the Republic.
De Gaulle was a conservative.
Good question. I know some pretty bright women who still adhere to the ideologies of feminism in this day and age. It's truly baffling.
Because it makes sense
Like who?
