Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yYes! I have 100% trust that they will do absolutely nothing to help your teeth. Absolutely nothing to inform you about the nutritional aspect of dental health, and I have full trust they will simply watch any problem that you have progress while doing absolutely nothing beneficial to prevent it. Your good dental health means their poor financial health. Anyone that thinks they can go to see a person that profits only from your teeth being bad is a fool!
The only exceptions are if you need work done if you have a physical issue, need surgery or corrective procedures. Anything else is a scam!00 Reply

However, I have had two bad experience's. My very first dental visit at age 7 I need to have one of my big lower teeth pulled. The dentist pulled it out, but one of the roots broke and was still in the socket. He was pissed! He put his foot and leg on the chair, bent over me and kept pulling until it came out. He took his anger out on me and it scared me so bad, I had dentist phobia all my life because of him.
During a root canal the oral surgeon killed my nerves doing the surgery. I got Burning Mouth Syndrome from him. I will have this all of my life - the inside of e mouth feels like I burned it really bad, like hot cheese in a 🍕 pizza. It feels that way 24 hours a day for 24 years so far.11 Reply
I once lied to my dentist when I was 17 don’t ask why 😂 that I have pain in my left molar. He was like yeah you have to do a root canal possibly cut half of the molar and then replace it I don't know it was crazy. I simply lied and here I am after 13 years with the same molar no problem yet at all.

I was recently reading about a case in San Jose, CA where a young dentist took over a retiring dentist's practice. He had paid a premium for the business because of how much money the older guy had been making, but soon found he wasn't making near as much. He investigated some of the patients records and found the other guy had done all kinds of expensive, unnecessary treatments, some of them actually damaging to patients. Last I heard the retiree had to pay out a bunch of liability claims and was under investigation for insurance fraud.00 Reply

+1 yMy mom sued my old childhood dentist and won the lawsuit. The state also came after him and he lost his license and owns millions of debt. He purposefully pulled out a permanent tooth when I was 8 and lied also told me to tell my mom it fell out on its own…. then was doing insurance fraud. I had braces 3 times, wear Invisalign for life now, and a 10k tooth implant for correction since my teeth were shifting crazy since I was still developing at 8.
All together my mom has put in over 80k of work because of a money hungry doctor. I’m very particular of who I go to I go to the same orthodontist and dentist that fixed everything.10 ReplyYes but there are nice type of doctors too. Not only dentist but many other also try to sell unnecessary treatments. I don't have that fear because I maintain my teeth and if I ever get any teeth problem then my friend's mom is a dentist who is honest and I can always seek her advice.

+1 ythere's some I did not trust and my current one I do. it's a human with sharp instruments and a motive to make $. Trust... but verify:) and trust your gut.
my current dentist I know... trust... they are taking too many xrays... because it is a profit maker for them to pay for the machine. you have to tell them no:)00 Reply
+1 yI used to trust dentists, my current dentist right now I trust.
Then I learned to read x-rays and an old one would tell me I needed fillings, but was lying... got reported. Turned out he was lying to lots of patients to get work done that didn't need to be done.
He just never expected that I or anyone else would know how to read those x-rays.00 Reply- 6.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yI have a very good dentist now, and have had fir the past 5 years, which us good because most if my previous dentists were idiots. Ever go to the dentist because you have a pain in your gums, he says nothing to worry about, and as you leave, it erupts and you mouth us full of blood? Yep, happened to me when I was younger.
00 Reply Yeah, I have a younger dentist and he's pretty good. Last time he replaced an old metal filling I had when I was way younger with a new white one. Quick, pretty, and easy. I didn't have to bat an eye when he said we should do it. Good insurance and I never had to pay for any work out of pocket since I left college.
00 Reply349 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Fuuuuck the people who trust the dentist. I actually am angry at people who dust American doctors and medical staff.
They are part if the problem.
I needed a tooth removed and the dentist tried to upset me $2000 USD for a transplant. Fuck that.00 Reply- 5.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yI trust my dentist. Some are more aggressive about preventative measures than others, so it may appear they are trying to sell unnecessary services. You're always free to get a second opinion from a different dentist, and then switch if you trust them more. I don't trust the "chain" dental clinics very much.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yYes, my mom is an assistant to the dentist and because she has an awesome boss, I don't have to pay for my treatments.
I know my mom's workplace is good and won't try to sell things people don't need.
(They have been told they're not allowed to recommend electric toothbrushes anymore, even though they are the best for your teeth, because it's not as environmentally friendly as bamboo toothbrushes.)00 Reply332 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. A little bit.
Some thing's they come with is like within healthcare.
It's a pop thing.
Even some thing's can't be followed since they create much more severe health problems.
Some other thing's are exaggerated.
Even a guessing within the dentist community that doesn't really have a clear base to support it.
Some dentists even practice fearmongering just like some doctors and nurses.00 Reply2.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. My dentist recently suggested doing a crown because of a broken filling. I insisted he simply redo the broken filling rather than an expensive crown. He's also a supporter of the harmful substance called fluoride. But other than that, he's a very skilled dentist
00 Reply1.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Yes, I trust dentists a lot more than other type of doctors. Mostly because the problems they find are usually things I already know about. Like if I'm having pain in a tooth and they tell me it's a cavity, I know it's not a scam.
00 Reply26.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. My dentist just retired. He always complained that he will never get rich on me. I have a new guy I will see an a couple of months. We will see about him.
12 ReplyI trust my dentist, because I have known him for 31 years.

You don't need to be a dentist to know a toothache, doesn't mean you need to buy a tooth whitening plan and a bucket of pills.00 Reply
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI trust my dentist he always goes above and beyond to make sure the work he has done is correct he will even check in with patients to see how they are doing if they are getting any pain or discomfort and no he doesn’t try and sell me extra services
00 ReplyI trust my dentist.
I didn’t trust the one before. She was incompetent and was reported to the GDC.00 Reply590 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Yes I trust my dentist. I'm just nervous every time I go because I think what happens if I'll be uncomfortable or in pain?

I have an impacted one and it has been 6 years and it is still ok.00 ReplyI trust that they know what they're doing, but I don't trust them that they won't add in a couple extras just to get more money.
01 ReplyDentists are frauds. They make big money! Before we would go with a toothache to the dentist, nowadays we return with toothache.
