Critical theories are a development upon and expansion to conflict theories, and conflict theory is one of the sociological lenses through which societies are studied.
If you want to teach kids critical race theory, then you should also tell them about its origins and more importantly, that it's a lens, a macro paradigm. You should also mention that sociology is a social science that, because its subject are groups of humans, tests and empirical evidence for scientists' claims are quite hard to come by.
I don't believe in all premises of conflict theory. I don't believe it can explain the causes for all human behavior and condition when it comes to social hierarchies and systems. I find it useful when studying power relations between different groups from a strictly materialistic (materialism in philosophical discourse) viewpoint and from a macro perspective. It can be one view among many, and explain some power relations.
But is it some kind of "ultimate theory", does it provide us with some kind of "ultimate truth"? Absolutely not. White kids can learn about it in a sociology class when they are 20. I don't see a reason why we should teach them CRT when they are kids as some kind of truth about their existence.
In any case, my kid will have private tutors and will be exposed to sociology as a whole in a different way and at an older age.

CRT is a counter analysis of laws, economies and societies where the person doing the analysis is controlling for race. The idea is to say "okay, we know that race was NOT the overarching reason society made the decisions it did, but what if it was?" CRT originated in the late 1800s and early 1900s in Frankfurt, Germany as a thought exercise that people pursuing their doctorates and post-doc research would use to debate the merits and detriments of a capitalist society.
WHEN WE TALK ABOUT CRT BEING TAUGHT IN SCHOOLS, we are not talking about what I just described above. Nobody is pulling 6th graders aside and presenting them with this analysis (or even making it clear that that is what's being taught). What they are doing instead is lacing the curriculum with ideas that are the products of the critical race analysis and presenting them as facts.
A good example of this is a children's book you can actually find in PA school libraries that depicts a white devil forcing innocent dark people to sign a contract of oppression. Another example (although slightly dramatized) is a math problem that reads something like "Robby drives a white car and gets 5 speeding tickets over 3 years. Jamal drives a black car and gets 10 speeding tickets over the same time. At the cost of $100 per ticket, how much more will Jamal have to pay in fines than Robby?"
It's someones theory as to why humans because as they do, in the groups they define... white and black and that blacks are "bound by social class". False, but to some, it may seem true.
It should be included in college and above... if at all... as an example of how people see things differently, seeing others perspectives, search for true meaning, and thus... think.
It is also a theory that is exposed into lower schools because society want's to do somethign to appease the "black community" aka African Americans because of the prior misdeads and traumas of people who hurt them.
we should stop talking about racism, start talking about history and how we can be better to each other, what we have in common, personality types, potential.

i didn't know shit about it. but i googled it a little bit and i think it's bullshit. it claims that racism is structurally embeddet in society, which as a social scientist i can only say is just false. how people behave is not "structural" to a society. and racism is an ideology that makes people behave in certain ways. racism isn't even a social system of sorts that could be autopoietic.
Typically what people observe is that different races seem to have different outcomes when it comes to social economic status. and that is definitely a fact. however people make the mistake of assuming that that society must somehow be structured in a way such that certain races have disadvantages. and the harder we look for those disadvantages, we find that it's actually not in the system but that it's actually individual behaviors that differ between cultural backrounds that then predict the better or worse outcomes. it is not in the system. it is in the people themself and their behaviors. of course it's simpler to try and fix a system but affirmative action has proven that this shit doesn't work. it's fighting symptoms. not the problem. it's a proverbial fight against windmills.

The right-wing wants to pretend that racism wasn't so bad, isn't a modern problem and doesn't exist.
So of course they are going to have a problem with CRT.
To that end, they propagate several lies, the most important being 1) it is taught to young kids (the grades vary from liar to liar) 2) it teaches you to hate America and 3) it teaches everyone to hate white people. Black kids will hate white people and white kids will hate their parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, etc...
These are the main 3 lies about CRT. So if you want to find out more about CRT then more power to you - but if you just want to see the lies of the right wing exposed, you only have to fact check those 3 things.

2) does it teach hatred of America
3) does it teach hatred of white people
IF you fact check those, and realise the lies of the right-wing, you'll be in a much better position to understand what CRT is, by first knowing what it is not.
CRT is simply American history and social development policies without the historical Whitewashing.

CRT is critical race theory, it’s based off of the Marxist idea of critical theory except it uses race instead of class where whites people are the bourgeoisie and all other races are the proletariat. It basically teaches that white pepper have inherent privilege over all other races and we should feel guilty about being white. Because of racism in the past. Now we need to be racist toward white people in order to make up for racism of the past and Ibram X Kendi a professor at Boston university adds to that, that any system that does not result in equal outcome for all races is inherently racist. (Which is stupid because we can never achieve the same outcome as everyone else like I’ll never be as tall or as good at basketball as LeBron James which would mean using that logic that basketball is racist because not everyone can be as skilled as LeBron James )
The version of Critical Race Theory taught at my local schools seems to have lost its original purpose. It is categorizing people by color and race. I don’t think people should be categorized by their looks. I think their should be equality, fairness and justice for all. People need to be willing to stand up for others, find ways to resolve their differences, agree to disagree, make sure each child succeeds, Help others see their potential. Work with families, listen to the people and communities rather than forcing everyone to follow a political view and using biased politics and biased school boards that want to boost their ego and say they were successful before the theory has been properly reviewed by the parents and kids who are impacted the most.
It’s basically a self-identified Marxist college level theory that has been adopted by teachers as an applied principle to promote historical revisionism and racism disguised as “anti-racism” to train young people to see everything through the lens of race in an effort to tear people down and sow division. It costs a couple of bucks, but there if you are truly curious there is a very short & sweet book on Amazon by Tarl Warwick called “Critical Race Theory Debunked” that does a very good job of explaining exactly what it is, how it’s applied and how damaging it is.

CRT is actually only ever taught to graduate school students in specific fields. There’s a perception that CRT in elementary/high schools (which does not currently exist anywhere) will be primarily about making White kids hate themselves or some similar nonsense. The goal is to have honest dialogue of the role of minority communities in the founding and function of the United States. Instead of just telling the Thanksgiving story and pretending everybody got along.

Crenshaw defined critical race theory as critical theory, except is says that the only real thing is the racial animus that she felt, only what's informed by her racist feelings is real, anything else that doesn't affirm that is false.
She went insane when clarence thomas was confirmed as judge and black women celebrated because her racist thoughts told her that those women were her property and should serve her, having no individual thought, after all they were women and black, which meant they were just objects that should do what she wants.

Critical Race Theory is the belief that America is inherently racist and that "Whiteness" (A liberal term) indicate subhuman behavior. In essence it means that any human being white than black is subhuman and not worthy of love or respect. It is a core tenant of liberal philosophy. In CRT, by being born a certain color you are inherently evil and therefore subhuman for being white.
I don't subscribe to this belief, because I believe all people are innocent until proven guilty.

maybe YOU don't know anything about it, but it's wrong for you to assume that parents of children being taught this racist bullshit haven't done their research to find out exactly what it is and why it's not something that should be taught to their children.
From my understanding CRT is like a lenses through which people see the would around themselves. The accumulation of your life experiences effect the way you interpret information.
