Hmm sounds like a thing that one can get out of just by been off putting to been accepted. Which i would make very easy by just been difficult on purpose. Which is good i suppose. Still kinda weird thing though, Love how no one ever told me about such things schools don't teach great things to know in life.

Your profile says that you are in the UK, and I am not familiar with UK laws, although I suspect they may be similar to those in the US.

In the US, it is the civil duty of an individual to report for jury duty if and when called. You may be excused for a variety of reasons from actually sitting on a jury, but you must report to the session in which people in the jury pool are assigned to individual juries.

Note that, in most US states, an employer must allow an employee time off without penalty for jury duty. Some companies pay the employee while on a jury, others don't, in which case the court provides minimal compensation.

It's a civil duty. So repercussions will happen shirking such duties. I get it's a choir but it's an important one.

Because Karen's love jury duty and want to fuck over people's lifes. So when a fellow peer facing charges you can do right be them and save them from the Karen's power trip. I’ve been chosen for municipal and county courts. Recently I had to be available for the month of May for Federal District Court, though I was never selected. I had to call in daily for basically 4 weeks, and missed my daughter’s volleyball tournament because they wouldn’t allow me to leave or be dismissed. It really sucked.

I don't know if it's a thing everywhere, but I know it is in the UK and i think the US.

I don't think you can get out of it for life, but if you are called up for jury duty you can attempt to get out of it. I've been called up three times and I've attended but was never picked for the final jury.

The chances are you'll never be called up, and even if you are there's only a small chance you'll actually be picked.

I knew somebody who got me out of it. Then the guy dies so the next time I have to go. The case was a drug dealer who was arrested and charged with distribution. I told the judge that if this guy got this far through the system, he had to be guilty. I was excused.
It really is a thing in my state and if you don't show up it will be an issue when you have to renew your drivers license or register your car.

In the us, it's a civil duty. I've asked for a transfer due to transportation issues and they told me they didn't need me. You're paid for the time but not much.
