White men are up to 50% less likely to receive prison sentences than black men when committimg the same/similar crimes. Black people in general are more likely to be convicted. Where was this "self defense" when Cyntoia Brown was being sentenced?
So what your saying is there was racism in the brown case because he was charged harder… in which case no racism here… also mother fucker men do 67% more hard time then women for the same crimes back at ya…

@VanillaSalt I understand biases exist. But they're not supposed to in judicial court. Judges literally have to swear to this in their oath. People are excused off the jury because they show bias.

Couple of things first off do you know I’m not a woman right telling me to calm down doesn’t piss me off so you’re not gonna get me riled up with that furthermore I am very calm right now are use fuck like I use that so yeah I said biases the judge had no bias the judge had no control over what was decided in the case he was going to call Miss trial with prejudice due to the fact that the prosecutor literally asked why they kept quiet when you have the right to remain silent at the beginning and why their own witness needed a lawyer which again is a right furthermore the prosecutor was a flipping idiot he pointed the damn rifle at the jury with his finger on the trigger without confirming that the barrel was empty at the gun was unloaded he has no Basic understanding of how guns work gun safety there was no expert there to provide any kind of testimony it was it just a bunch of idiots on both sides arguing their points personally if I was the judge I would’ve declared a miss trial with prejudice meaning he couldn’t be retry because of the terrible conduct of the prosecutor but I wanted to see the no guilty verdict I was confident that he would get not guilty because how he reacts in that situation is exactly the same as I would react the only differences I don’t give a damn about you stupid ass people enough to go out there and fucking fight for you but come to my town and see what happens I’ll blast away A hell of a lot more than just three people I promise

Not that I’m pissed at the comment section but people really seem to think the way minorities and white people get treated in this country when it comes to the justice system are the same. Please research where the police system evolved from…. Slave patrol. Let’s look at the amount of white men who commit crimes and get off.. or maybe they go to Burger King or get a glass of water like gtf. Not necessarily referencing this case but stating generally.
What I will say is this:
BECAUSE he was/is white he certainly got a bigger benefit of the doubt most other races of men wouldn't have, and it's very likely that had he been a black teenager he'd be in jail right now. After all this is America where the Aubrey case was heavily debated AND Aubrey was running away for his life.
With that said I don't think that him being white is what saved him. I think the level of public interest, the judge (with an admittedly clear bias), and the absolute garbage prosecution is what saved him. Let's just hope Rittenhouse doesn't go the Zimmerman route and try to ruin his life by filing frivolous lawsuits against everyone who will hear them.

Unpopular opinion, but no. This was a self defense issue, not a “white privilege” issue.
Responses to this question comprise proof that respondents by and large did not see the trial. It's not about WP at all.
The verdict shows that for citizens acting lawfully, Self Defense is and ought to be a valid reason to use lethal force when threatened with acts having the potential for great bodily harm or death.
There are a lot of people in prison for crimes they did not commit. I am sure some of them are white. Is white privilege only for some whites or do all whites have white privilege? Which one is it? There is no white privilege!

In the sense that 'white privilege' is really 'good decisions privilege', yes it exists. I know a lot of non-white people who have white privilege, and they get called out on it ("wow, must be nice to have privilege") whenever some loser with nothing going for them starts feeling slighted
