And people have an issue with it, because you're trying to dictate who and what they are; ironic considering trans people don't like it when others try to dictate who and what THEY are, but then think it's okay to do it to normal people. Then again, many transpeople are full of sh*t. They are immature babies who like to cry everything is "transphobic" when they don't get their way.
Of course, I have met some 'rational' transpeople on this site. I think I know three of them. But they don't seem to get much attention compared to the idiots on social media. Guess they're too busy just living their lives and accepting themselves for who they are, rather than bitching and whining on Twitter for other people to believe in their delusional fantasy BS, like they do.
And THAT is where you lose people. You have the right to live your life however you want. You DON'T have the right to force, bully, or peer pressure others into living their lives however you want. And rejecting objective reality, science, and facts, in favor of some trans identity delusional BS that didn't even exist (in the mainstream) 15 years ago, is insanity. And most people aren't that insane.
It grabs negative attention when it's unneeded, just use it among your friends. If someone gets angry just from overhearing you that would be on them in that case. Sometimes it's a useful term when "not transgender" doesn't work, but it often works quite easily. More people easily understand not transgender than cisgender.
Useful:
-are you cisgender? (if you think it's more likely and want to avoid suggesting someone appears transgender when they aren't)
Not useful:
-all of my friends are cisgender (can be phrased as "none of my friends are transgender")
-they're a band of cisgender people who despite hardships decided to dedicate themselves to music and performance and are now big shots. (entirely unnecessary as most people are cisgender and it crams more terms into the sentence.)
Bonus: shortened "cis" sounds really bad and also requires previous knowledge as if it were a common word. You can avoid both problems by using the full word.
This generation has a thing for labels. Every like, dislike, thought and feeling seems to require a label of some sort.

When I first heard the word “Cis” I was told it meant “comfortable in skin.” That was outrageous to me, because few people are actually completely comfortable in their own skin.
However, when I looked it up myself, I found it to mean exactly what you described. I have no issue with being referred to as Cis now that I know what it actually means.
But I do wish we could give the labels a rest. There are way too many to keep up.
When people say they’re something trapped in the “wrong” body. That kind of assumes that there is a “right” body to begin with and that there is something that can be trapped. I am my body. For better or for worse. There are a lot of things I wish were different about my life. I can rage and wish I wasn’t dealt such bad hand in life or I can just accept the universe doesn’t care and my feelings won’t change anything.

Technically there is nothing wromg with the word itself. The problem is it's typically used in a political context by people I disagree with. It's similar to "mansplaining". Some would argue that is a technical word with a clear definition and is useful in some situations. In reality, it's used by women unable to deal with arguments they disagree with and so they instead blame a man who is allegedly overexplaining obvious things. If that woman engaged with the argument itself and never attacked her opponents character, perhaps the word would be taken seriously. Because it mostly spread in toxic feminist circles, it is tainted by that toxicity. Now it will never be used to neutrally describe a typical male behavior, because it has very strong connotations.
The cis word is the same. Just like mansplaining it is biased already from the start, but got much worse when it was connected with really unbearable types of people.
Even in neutral context, the issue would be that you are describing the standard situation as if it were the anomaly, or perhaps as if it were just another category, on the same level with trans. I would object to the normalization of that primarily due to the negative effect such language seems to have on children.
Add to that some recent prominent case of this word being used by people who use an identitarian narrative to try to hurt peoples reputation, get them fired and accuse them of all kinds of nasty intentions. Once it entered the culture war on the side of the crazy left, you can't separate the word and it's negative connotations.
I personally dont mind the word itself, but as soon as I suspect you are using it in that keft wing political context, my patience will be on a very short fuse.

It's a stupid word though, and I don't consider it a real one because mentalities can't be gendered.
Either gender can have any mentality, and gender = biological sex, because thats what it meant before gen z forgot how to read a dictionary.
"Cis gendered" implies that a person is born with a mentality that aligns with their bioological sex, and this "word" is used by people who claim their mentality doesn't align with their sex, while also claiming the contradicting notion that mentalities and biological sex are somehow linked, despite those very people being evidence to the contrary.
It's actually ironic.
Even moderately intelligent people know that mental genders are fiction, because objectively speaking, they are, and the fact that people are born who don't fit male or female stereotypes, is proof of that, yet those same stereotype breakers insist that the stereotype is real and that something is wrong with them.

I am so confused by all these ism-based ideologies and verbs, terms and short phrases we use for people and I am a young guy who's doing his Masters. I don't understand this world. No wonder I prefer being home, watching the game and cooking a meal for myself. Rather then going out to meet fake friends and try to "fit" in by being confused of my identity within a social framework. If you aren't comfortable with your true self, people will always be confused with who they are. We will label men as Simps for going after women. But then say women who use OnlyFans for business-savvy, come on now lol. Now i'm reading stories online of people who want to go back to their previous gender and regret getting surgery. If you are born a girl be happy you are a girl. If you are a boy, be happy you are a boy. Don't feel pressured to change yourself for others. It's not my business for someone's sexual orientation, gay or straight but people's ideologies shouldn't be forced on others and that's why I believe this world is in a precarious state.

My identity is what it says on my birth certificate not the "cool label of the day", much less enjoy some random person that has no type of meaningful relationship with me having the audacity to talk about me, much less calling me anything but my name.
And finally, I'm Hispanic. Even though I understand and can speak Latin, it's a dead language. I don't around calling or assigning Latin or Spanish words/labels to random people.

I'm genderfluid but I find Cis a very dumb not needed thing. And if you were to call me it, I would just look at you like your dumb even if I wasn't genderfluid.
Some words are unneeded we don't call Not depressed people a name to classify them. We don't call a Non parent something else to identify them.

I don't like it the same way I don't like "step" I just don't like how it sounds. But people get confused when I call my dad my dad and also my dad my dad they don't know which I'm talking about, so I do sometimes have to use "step." And if someone asks me I'll use "cis" too. I just wish it was spelled or pronounced different I don't like it like it is. Can we pick a different language? "Trans" sounds nice. "Cis" sounds like "cyst" that's just gross. And "step" just sounds silly to me for some reason.
Cis means on this side and trans on the other, but the term implies a boundary that does not exist in sexuality. Therefore the name is incorrect which does not surprise me given the vast ignorance of those who support such theories.
From my point of view it is correct only heterosexual end sane, that is, that it addresses the opposite sex understood as physical sex determined by the presence of natural primary sexual organs opposite to those of the subject. Sane in terms of mind sanity i. e. free of disorders/disphories related to sexual identity.
The only things that make me cis or trans are cisaplino and transpadano.
I don’t like it. I’m fine with identifying as a man. It just seems redundant to me unless it was used in a certain case in which someone needed to identify my sexual identity/preference and I’m not sure why they would or would matter to them. Doesn’t happen very often for me at least I’m my life. So by saying someone is a cis male it’s pretty much like calling someone a “man who prefers heterosexual relationships” in my opinion and I don’t really see how that is even relevant information to most people unless of course you were describing ones gender for specific purposes.

Find new games/hobbies and if some trans calls me a cis I take it as an open invitation to address them by their biological reality.

To be honest I'm really sick of all these sexuality and orientation terms these science heads want to give out to everybody, which only helps generate more confusion. It's as ridiculous and a non-story as Americans getting upset at being taught "Arabic numerals" at school. Arabic numerals are the numbers 0-9 you use everyday. Romans used symbols and others wrote their numbers in words. Hence the term Arabic Numerals.
But it shows how uninformed Americans in particular are about the world and their ignorance of it. They tend to get all pissy when told anything "new" which makes them look foolish.

You insult women when you claim that you are one as much as they are. No you’re not. You weren’t dressed in pink as a baby, didn’t go to kindergarten in a dress, didn’t use the girls room in elementary school, didn’t get talked to about your upcoming period and what it is, didn’t have your first or any periods, didn’t go through puberty as a girl, never worried about being pregnant. None of that.
They had a very different life experience as a group than you. At best you are a trans woman but not a real woman. They are not Cis gendered, they are girls and women or boys and men. You don’t get to tell everyone what they are. You can be you but that’s where it ends. If you don’t see yourself as a man, fine. But you are not a woman. You are something else in you mind although your body knows exactly what it is.
