However , liberal policies have caused debts, low interest rates , and inflated prices. So , that really isn't their fault.
If there would have been no deductions for Social Security , would they have more money now or would it be the same?
What if they never had a history of drugs, crime and don’t drink alcohol? They can still end up in poverty due to health issues alone. We should help our elderly and not be left to die because they can’t afford insulin, blood pressure meds, etc. Maybe they were in a bad accident and suffer from muscle pain and require strong pain meds to get through the day? Working in a pharmacy showed me how absolutely expensive medicine is and how insurance companies will weasel their way out of paying for things even if it’s life or death.
Even if you’re retired and did well with a pension and 401k and investments, health insurance and medicine can eat at your finances if you’re not careful. I do acknowledge the government is too involved with things but this is one of the things our government is responsible for making life easier for its citizens and especially the elders.
You know the situation you gave is like maybe 1% of the cases. Very few are in serious wrecks. Very few are unlucky with a diseases that ruins their lives. I am talking about most that have normal health and lives.
You might think that, I’m from New York and trust me there is a lot of people that are born with an illness, injured from an accident, served in the military and experience physical/ mental trauma or people who just develop illnesses over time throughout life.
The older a person gets, the health declines. A healthy lifestyle might slow the decline or prevent certain issues but it doesn’t completely protect you from nature.
If they've put themselves in that position than I say no.
They should be taken care. I feel sorry for elderly homeless people. I feel sorry for homeless people in general. You don’t know what someone has gone through to be in the situation they’re in. It can happen to anyone at any time. Unexpected medical bills, the death of a loved one, sickness… and so much more can take a toll on someone’s finances.
We don't know how they spent their money either , if responsible. Most people live for today and give no thought of tomorrow. Look on here. 20 year olds say I won't live to be 50. Now are they going to save anything? No, They will live right now and expect someone else to house and feed them.
We should help them if we can because, you know, that's just the decent, humane thing to do. Civilised societies don't allow the disadvantaged to just wither and die on the streets.

It is tough to be old. Many have no savings and try to make it on Social Security. Meanwhile Biden rings the dinnerbell for two million and counting illegal aliens fixing them up in cities all over the country. It is estimated that it will cost between 35 and 50 thousand dollars per person per year. It is th egift that keeps on giving.
