I dont. I sacrificed my youth, studying in school, getting multiple degrees, taking about various loans cuz I just didn't have enough money for college. I worked multiple jobs to save up to send myself to school for MANY years. There were so many nights where I barely slept due to stress. There were some nights I was so busy, I didn't shower for 4 days, just for the sake of getting better grades

I dont have to be doing all of this. I can easily just work 20 hours a week, live off of SNAP, live in cheap public housing.

Being poor is a choice not a fate.

Now I work well into the 6 figure category- a LIFETIMES worth of hard work.

I don't know if I sympathize with the poor because that requires context. There are people who choose to live modest lives. They don't eat out much, live close to the belt, but are happy that way. Then you have people who can't afford food. What counts as poor is subjective.

I sympathies with anyone who struggles. I don't think it's fair to say that everyone who is poor, is poor souly because of their own choices. Sure I do see a lot of poor people shitting away their money. Eating out, getting the latest Iphone, getting gaming consoles. I find that people who live in poor neighborhoods often have really expensive cars.

But there are also people with disabilities, chronic illness, and sometimes people have really bad luck. Also for the people who spend irresponsibly, this could be a form of self harm or addiction.

I'm all for personal responsibility, removing someones agency is one of the worst things you can do to someone; but I think you need to look at all the factors and always give people grace.

I sympathize with most people and animals including the bird that died hitting my window, and ants. I'd like to help them, but they are difficult to help. I've tried before more than once, and it's a "pit of goom"... with layers of problems and choices. Sometimes, there's no good choice left.

Someone has to work really really hard to climb out, and get support and get lucky and such. My grandparent worked themselves, and drank, to death at early age. Sometimes it takes generations but in USA, can be done inside a short time you pop into middle class. Many places on earth, is impossible. If born into a lower cast India, you are screwed. Some girls including women out here were born poor and cast into the hell of slavery. They may never get free.

But my point is that there is luck involved in life. You were lucky. You were born in the United States. There are about 3.4 x 10^8 humans in the USA. There are about 82 x 10^8 humans on Earth. So, 3.4/82 = 0.0415.

Thus, the probability of a person living in the USA is 4.15%. So, since there's only about a 4% probability to live in the USA, you were pretty lucky to do that and have the opportunities that you have.

Also, you are lucky in that you were born within the past century. As a female, had you been born earlier, you likely might not even have a job. You certainly wouldn't have been able to get any sort of loan.

And, Heaven help you if you were a minority a century ago. If you are Black in the 1850s, your opportunities are extremely limited...

I know I am not explaining myself well, but my point is we all do not start with the same starting point. People like you are admirable - you've done a lot of hard work to get to where you are. There are a lot of people who don't have your gumption and so, if they started out same as you, they wouldn't be as successful as you. But there are also people in this world who would have the same gumption as you, but didn't even start out with what you did.

I'm just referring to the VAST MAJORITY of them, which are abled bodied, mostly overweight individuals who can run, walk, talk- totally capable of working a job.
