I'm black and I'm cool with all races, but I do admit that I dislike certain people because of where they come from and how they behave, having nothing to do with their skin, language, physical features, etc. This applies to even my own countrymen as an American. I dislike other blacks from Washington D. C. but love blacks from California and New York. I dislike whites from down south and the hard-core western states, but love whites from here in the Greater Washington D. C. region and whites from the mid west.
This also applies to people from other countries, but I won't get into those. But regardless of how I feel about everyone, I still treat them the same until or unless I have a reason not to. That's what acceptance and equality is really about.11 Reply- +1 y
Yep. It matters because people make it matter, but it shouldn't.
+1 yI don't think race matters personally I think it's culture
.
All races have decent people and they also have the scum of the earth dreggs of society, that even their own wouldn't spit on.
But culture/community can have a massive impact on how a person thinks and navigates their way through society.
Culture is made up by a variety of things, religion, historical traditions, environmental culture, Intercultural culture and I'm sure i could list more.
Just yesterday on the news a small group of Jewish men and boys were out in London celebrating dancing in the street, a rarity but something I think would have been a spectacle but also a welcomed changed as the orthodox Jews tend to be very private.
Anyways when they boarded a bus some men spat at them and shouted anti semetic things.
Quite nasty if I'm honest and something I find absolutely unbelievable.
I don't wish to say what community they were from as that would make me liable here but I personally can only really think it's maybe people who haven't been in the country for long.
Most British people accept that it's a multi cultural society and in London accept they will come encounter many from different backgrounds. Race for the most part, well at least for me doesn't factor but you do notice when someone is foreign, mostly because they haven't integrated into society culturally.
They can come out with some real outlandish statements that at times you really have to question whether it's an actual threat or not!01 ReplyDo you want to win anything related to running in the Olympics - you ain't winning if you ain't a black dude they're too fast.. So there it matters..
Well the truth is I have plenty of ideas about all black white and Asian and Latino people that I could name here for about 5 minutes - Then I realized as I was typing that the second I send it and people see that I've put white people is being much better at certain things - I'll be a white supremacist - So maybe race matters there too? When you make an opinion that is..
Another thing - Race matters when it comes to the grand scheme of things - Compare homogenous societies to too "culturally diverse" societies - One still has its problems but doesn't have tribe vs tribe mentality inside of its own country (not saying it couldn't have them just less likely and to a much lower degree) - Meanwhile the second one will always have it and it's the worst thing that could happen to a country - We see it today in the usa - We'll see it soon in France and the UK - We've already seen it in Lebanon and Iran and Syria (these were religious differences I'd say race is even worse though) - We've seen it when the jews (a minority in Germany) betrayed the Germans during ww1 - that's almost literally how the ottoman empire was made - They all ended up with the previously welcomed minority becoming a majority making a Civil War and taking over (not jews they got their own country maybe that's even better of a deal) - That's an undeniable part of history that I wouldn't have believed great countries would deny... Especially when looking at their main competitor aka China that has a united front while the usa has too many people loving the hell out of China... I think I rambled too much the China part isn't about a certain race but does lie on a certain ideology spectrum..00 Reply- 1.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yYes. Race us a categorization of similaires in physical properties between peoples.
There are differences between African natives and European natives that are obvious even if they have the same skin color.
This is taken from: Overlap Between Whites and Blacks in Response to Antihypertensive Drugs
"On average, whites and blacks differ in their response to many antihypertensive drugs. For example, a large multicenter study found that administration of the angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor captopril led to a 10.7 mm Hg reduction in diastolic blood pressure among whites and an 8.0 mm Hg reduction among blacks, resulting in a white–black difference of 2.7 mm Hg (P<0.001).1 In general, whites appear to respond better to β-blockers and angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors whereas blacks appear to respond better to diuretics and calcium channel blockers."00 Reply
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yRace matters not because the world makes race matter BUT because race makes the world. We are not the same and the people who parrot this have no idea what they are talking about. It is easy to say “I love diversity” whilst sitting in the comforts of a first world country built by white people. Diversity is a friction in society. Society can handle some friction, but differences of religion and race will eventually lead to civil war. My ancestors were European, they built a great civilization. my political leaders ignore this and have invited millions of unwanted people from the third world, uncivilized nations to live in mine (so much for democracy). Is this good for us? For our long term health? Should I ignore history and what is in front of my very eyes?
This isn’t about hating something or wishing them ill. That’s a political ploy. But I shouldn’t have to live with people that will eventually lead to the destruction of my own people, culture, and country.
Certain races were imbued with gifts and talent. Saying we are equal ignores reality.
So yes, race does matter. And if this continued unabated, then the first world is gone, our cultural is gone, and our Children’s futures are gone.00 Reply
+1 yRace doesn't matter. Racism was virtually gone with liberal colourblind law.
But no, apparently we have to raise our racial consciousness and have segregation to stop racism. End discrimination by discriminating harder. Public policy is literally reverting back 70 years in plain sight and people seem to think it's fine. Just, even.
Then there's the equality nutters that somehow think the natural state of the world is equality in spite of all evidence to the contrary, and any disparity is a deliberate disturbance of equality and evidence of discrimination. Systemic, or: "I can't tell you why it's discrimination, but trust me bro." What it is is Lysenkoist bullshit.
Screw the racist communazis.00 ReplyRace matter is a sense that it is something that makes you unique and special, as in it's something that is part of you, like the size of foot you have. It is something we should acknowledge and celebrate. That's something the world needs more of, celebrations of differences, instead of ignoring their existence and then blaming everything under the sun those differences.
However, race is not grounds to discriminate against anyone with. Race doesn't matter in the fact of if you help some one or not, or other things like that.00 Reply347 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Yeah it doesn't matter but well all have stereotypes.

That doesn't mean there are no differences between people of different races that can't be explained just by their culture. People have different abilities, both physical and mental and race definitely plays a role.
You'd have to be blind or really stubborn not to notice.24 Reply- +1 y
True. But when it comes something like IQ differences (because we all know the edgy right wingers like to talk about that) it doesn’t really matter. They say the averages in IQ for black are low, but that’s because a lot of black people go to bad schools as a result they do bad on tests. Whereas when you look at private schools it’s majority white. And whatever happens to one race can happen to another. So white people end up having the lowest IQ on average. But I’m not a race realist, so I don’t really know for sure lmao.
- +1 y
@Evealyn Why would the differences in mental and physical abilities of different races mysteriously not include IQ? IQ is not about education, it's being able to see patterns. You might argue that IQ is not a good way to gauge someone's intelligence and I might agree seeing as it's not the most intelligent people that necessarily are the most successful in life. But if you want to still blame the IQ results on education and lack of opportunities - check out IQ of Native Americans. They live like in 3rd world country, have less good schools than blacks and have access to the "civilized" society for a shorter amount of time and yet they score a lot higher than them. Either way I think people take this too personally - we're talking statistics here. And statistics don't apply to any particular person of any race who might be either smart or stupid regardless or their race.

+1 yCultural wise, a person's ethnicity matters as far as their cultural beliefs and traditions. .
I don't believe in race other than the human race... We're all the same race, just different ethnicities. And that shouldn't matter when it comes to how someone is treated, laws, punishment, education, jobs. Everyone should have equal rights regardless of skin color.
And I don't like or dislike someone based off skin color or ethnicity, more as what kind of person they are..20 Reply- 6.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.

Often, people confuse race with culture. They are two completely different things. Culture is primarily based on where a person is from, doesn't matter what their race is. And cultures can, and should be, different.10 Reply

If it does to some people, that means we still need to be careful how we interact with those people. 19 Reply- +1 y
@JCrockett The problem with what you said, is that it is completely and utterly wrong. While "Races" could technically be argued to exist by biologists, the races they can "identify" as separate and identifiable have nothing to do with the races normal people think of such as Black, White, Hispanics or whatever.
Trust me, we have TRIED to make those work including doing some truly horrific experimentation/mutliations on live humans but there has never once been a successful case of identifying these supposed races with actual concrete evidence.
If you think it is obvious and you can prove it there would be an easy Nobel prize for you to pick up. That also comes with a cash reward of around 1 million dollars for winning the prize. Prove me wrong and go collect it anytime you are ready. - +1 y
LOL. AI can pick out a patient's self identified race from an x-ray. Anthropologists can tell what continent someone's ancestors are from from a broken skull. Any random person can distinguish a Somalian from an African American on sight. Yeah, it's a real scientific mystery.
I like the part where you admit it is real and scientific but then you say "But it doesn't perfectly map to certain I'll defined catch all terms, so it's fake."
Please keep telling people all about this. I love it when people make fools of themselves. - +1 y
@JCrockett Believe it or not but none of the things you listed are evidence for race and the fact that you did not know that speaks volumes about why you dont get it.
As for "races" that scientists could theoretically make would appear to be arbitrary and random from mine and your perspective with mixes of all types of skin colors and ethnicity in every "race". Furthermore the differences between these races are so minute that I am not even sure they should be qualified as separate races in the first place.
If you want an example of a species that actually do have provable races as opposed to humans then you can look at Chimpanzees and no, you can't tell the difference between those ACTUAL races without an expert doing an in-depth analysis such as a DNA test. - +1 y
The fact that there are animal races that are phenotypically indistinguishable but genetically distinct, while human races have significantly variable heritable phenotypes, is really really bad for your case.
"Look, these two apes look almost identical, but thanks to science we can distinguish them into separate taxonomic classifications. But this Vietnamese person and this Sub-Saharan African? Exactly the same. There's simply no way to distinguish them biologically, and boy did we ever try!"
Serious question: who do you think is actually getting fooled by this pilpul? Do you honestly believe that if you just define race into some alien technical definition, people will just discard the concept as imaginary? - +1 y
@JCrockett No, because we can easily identify it using biology and easily explain it with genetic diversity. There are essentially like 4 times where humans could have evolved races however as humans started to travel the "races" intermixed and eliminated any distinguishing differentiation. Animals generally dont use boats and airplanes to do this.
The important part about defining races in species is the ability to objectively define them which requires a certain amount of separation. It does not matter how diverse the gene-pool is if there is no distinguishable separation which is the case for humans. Or rather, humans are actually fairly genetically similar compared to many other species. - +1 y
@JCrockett Can is not the same as Has. Also yes, objectively speaking if you mix together everyone then the distinctions disappears. "Races" relies entirely on being able to objectively categorize people so if the traits of one race is also present in all the other races then its no longer an objective distinction anymore.
+1 yI cannot imagine how race could possibly matter. Different cultures and different languages could present a challenge but the actual race of a person or the color of their skin or hair or eyes should literally make 0 difference
