They called me the slightly burn cracka in school (cuz i was Italian). I didn't care i thought it was hilarious tbh. Everyone said racist and insensitive shit and it brought us closer together. Now everyone gets their feelings hurt by every goddamn thing under the sun. Honestly the big tension in our school wasn't even between white in black. On the contrary we got along very well and the student body was approx 38% black. It was the latin minorities that hated each other. We had two riots that turned into brawls between the mexicans and puerto ricans. Those were bad.

It's offensive and I have been called that once by some idiot males in their low twenties many years ago, but I don't worry about it. It says more about the saying it than it does the receiver of it. It's dumb and meant to insult but I just chalk them up to idiots. Same as all racist slurs.
I think it's racially offensive if you highlight anyone's skin, be it a black person or white. But of course, white people have been oppressers for so long that yes, you can't blame people for trying to get even.

I don’t care but I have seen the raciest use it as minorities allowed to be racist and it helps give them ammunition (in their opinion) to be even more racist. So maybe stop doing racist shit so we can stop encouraging more racist behavior on both sides

I (pardon the pun) cracked up learning of this epithet for White folks like me. I had no problem with it and call myself a cracker or honky quite often as in "Hey, I'm a honky... you know I can't dance."
Okay now imma sound like an asshole but it's just my mindset. When a black person gets called a (I don't know if I can say it here) slur, they usually get pretty heated, but every time I've seen a white person get called a cracker, they laugh or agree and I do the same. If someone calls me a racial slur, I say one back, and usually it's jokes but when it's not, the other race does not appreciate it very much.
I'm not. I was at the store with my partner (he is black) a few weeks back and he said "where are the crackers". I said "right here" to be funny. It doesn't have to be offensive. People choose to make it so by taking things too seriously.
It can be the same, but cracker has not really been used in public hangings in the last 100 years or to tell people they are too stupid to vote.

I always laugh when someone has used that term. It just seems stupid. I don’t know where it even came from but I feel like the person using sounds like a fool. It’s like calling us wafer, cookie or biscuit. It just doesn't stick. Could you imagine substituting Saltine, Ritz, or Triscuits for cracker. It doesn't bother me one bit. You can call me anything you wish, I do not get offended that easy. Besides it is not the word that offends people it is who is saying it that does. A white person calling another white person a Cracker will probably get laughs from it. A black person calling another black person the "N" word would probably not offend them either. So it is not the words but who is saying them and who is hearing them and perceiving the intended meaning of the words.

In the US it’s always a competition. Hardly any boosting up of fellow man. “My truck is bigger”, “My insult is better”. It doesn’t surprise me the drastic difference in meaning of an innocent word when tossed around in two different countries.
