+1 yThere's a video game series called "Crusader Kings", in which you take control of a Medieval Eurasian dynasty and guide it to glory (or ruin, as the case may be). Pretty much every fan of the series is a historical buff; if you aren't when you start playing, you quickly become one when you start wondering, for example, why there's a kingdom of Jewish in central Asia in the tenth century.
One of the game's expansions added a start date in 867 (the default is 1066, just before Stamford Bridge) to bring in the Vikings, but it also added the last of the independent Sassanid (and thus Zarathustran) houses: the house of Karen. It's one of the most difficult starts in the game, and it's a popular challenge to try to pull it off and restore Persia. There's a certain amount of personal prestige (as much as a single-player video game can give, anyway) attached to those who can pull it off. As someone who is, at best, on the periphery of the social media scene, it confused the hell out of me to hear people tossing the name around as an insult (I went through a similar thing with all the "I took an arrow in the knee" jokes when Skyrim came out, thinking they were talking about Genghis Khan; apparently I'm the only person in this century who's actually read Marco Polo's book).
In short, yes, I'm totally with you on this one.10 Reply

+1 yThe Brits use the word "cunt" all the time, and not just to describe women. For example, pretty much every politician is a cunt.

+1 yYou know the word cunt is a derogatory word, don't you?
Actually, I never knew that for awhile as I thought it was just another term for vagina, like pussy is. But then I found out the definition is a Female Bitch.

It's a bit more than just a cunt, since it also takes a level of dedication and being wrong. No offense to all the nice Karen's out there of course, it's just a pretty accurate meme with all the bad ones.10 Reply12.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. No. As that is fucking rude. You must be a gutter dredging numbnut to be using sexual swearwords towards women, for what is only a behavioural stereotype. Educate yourself better and come out your cabin in the woods more often.
Being a "Karen" alludes to a being of a certain look and behaviour. Being like you alludes to being a cunt.01 Reply- +1 y
Then you must be the Prick the supports the CUNT
Hahaha. …Yes! The C word is so offensive to women though, but I like your thinking.
one of my neighbors is a C and wish I could just call her that to her face01 Reply- +1 y
Do it, I have no issues saying anything. Like there is a difference between a Niger and Black Person

+1 yWhy not just point out the person's crazy ass behavior? Using racist or sexist terms like "karen" actually undermine your point.

Do you say “container made of glass or plastic that encases a liquid” every time you ask for a bottle?
- +1 y
@Jintendo18 Well sir, being the kind of man who enjoys the company of women, I certainly can call a woman a woman.
I don't think you understand what your own point.
Let's say this, if you worked for a woman, could you call her a "cunt" or a "karen" and expect to maintain employment?
This is called a rational point.
- +1 y
@RolandCuthbert I’d consider it safe to say that if she’s an adult then she knows exactly why she’s being called the name that she is. Normal people don’t go around insulting other others without cause the last time I checked.
- +1 y
@Jintendo18 So you are not a rational person. And you are pretending that you can use these terms with a woman who could be your boss?
No need for further discussion.
- +1 y
@RolandCuthbert I wouldn’t work for a woman like that.
- +1 y
@Jintendo18 Right.
We both you would never use the term in a work environment. You use it here because you are a cowardly internet troll.
- +1 y
I’m self-employed, so thankfully I don’t have to deal with shitheads who think it’s ok to treat others however they want just because they think they can get away with it. So yours is a moot point.
- +1 y
@Jintendo18 Again, make up any lie you wish. Call your female clients the c-word or karen.
I have Jewish and Italian clients, I know better than to mock their heritage and pretend they will continue to use my services. In fact, I am certain just using this language at the office would end our business relationship.
- +1 y
Would you really want to do business with someone worthy of being called those names anyway? I would think not and certainly hope not.
- +1 y
@Jintendo18 You do know your point isn't rational, right? I have fired men/women for attitude issues, professionalism, insubordination, etc.
I am sure some may have thought very little of me.
But unlike you, I am professional. Using such language on in a professional environment is unacceptable. And this is why I know you are simply lying about your experience as being "in business for yourself". Because if I used that language, word would spread to all my clients and perspective clients and I would be out of business. I built my business on my reputation. I worked my ass off, doing 48/72 hour shifts. I solved technology issues that entire organizations could not. And I would not risk my business on some weird backwards nonsensical political point made by an anonymous poster on what used to be a site about relationships/dating.
- +1 y
It’s as rational as can be because it’s about self-respect. The same way you’ve fired people for attitude problems, I refuse to do business with people with poor demeanors. I’ve also worked under managers and bosses at various businesses that had no qualms about cursing at and telling disrespectful customers to gtfo, granted they were few and far in between. However, I don’t think the OP is referring to using the word in any sort of professional setting in the first place, so what we’re discussing is an entirely different matter altogether.
- +1 y
@Jintendo18 No. It is not about self-respect. Resorting to namecalling in a professional environment is about being childish. It shows an inability to communicate.
As for being outside of work, you can still be held accountable for what you say on social media, etc. And your employer, client, etc. can fire you or end that business relationship because of your behavior away from the office.
It is a concept called branding. If your employer/client feels your behavior is impacting their brand, that is grounds for termination.
I introduced the issue of a professional environment as a standard. Why would you pretend you could use the terms in office environment in the first place? The point was that these terms are offensive. No matter how deserving you feel a woman may be. To take the emphasis off her behavior and put it on her gender/race is just not just insulting. . . it defeats the purpose of confronting her at all.
- +1 y
I never said you could use them in an office environment. You put those words in my mouth. The minute I’d think to use those words would be the minute I’d see myself out before even being asked anyway, or ask the person to leave if I were in such a position. You’re also running under the mistaken assumption that the average person is necessarily willing to listen to reason and be corrected if not otherwise compelled to do so.
- +1 y
@Jintendo18 Sir, that was the first comparison I made to you. And you went on for several days pretending that you could call your boss that term or use the term in work environment with no consequences.
As for how reasonable the average person is. . . that has little to do with what is tolerated in or outside of a work environment.
You were trying to make the case that calling someone a name because you feel their behavior is warranted is some universally accepted rational argument. That's why I used these analogies.
- +1 y
Yes, it was a comparison that YOU made to steer the conversation in a direction that YOU felt YOU’d be 100% right no matter the outcome, just like the fabrication YOU made that I “pretended” any such thing at all when I made no insinuation of the sort whatsoever.
- +1 y
And yes, I still stand by my point.

+1 yWell that’s kind of a worse word to use than anything else so I guess Karen is not so bad but I feel sorry for someone with that name
10 Reply 897 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I´d consider calling them cunt even more offensive and that in my view that´s not solving a problem.
That way you just insult them.00 Reply5.8K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I refuse to use any "common names as an insult" crap anyway. I'm good with "cunt." It's a classic, afterall.
