Hero is one of those titles I tend to not use. Because giving a person the title of hero or not giving someone the title can create some serious issues. That and it does play into the idea of putting people onto a pedestal. There way too many example of people being put on to a pedestal that engaged in behavior before or after being placed on the pedestal makes them not even remotely worthy. Also many chases where being placed on that very pedestal influenced there negative behavior.
I would not call him/her a hero but I think I can understand him a little. I wonder if feeling like a woman made him overcompensate and that is why he became the worlds greatest athlete. In the 70s and 80s it was not mainstream to be transgender. I think he may have missed out on some professional opportunities to come out as a woman.
How does that make them a hero?
Did they save the lives men women and children?
Did they fight for freedom for the people?
Did they ever save someone from dying?
No, they did sports in the Olympics and had a sex change. That don't make them a hero
Meh, I'd say there's probably better trans role models.
Hasn't they now said they regret the surgery and such?
Hero: a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.
Technically by definition yes, because some people admire or idealize her because they think it takes courage to do what she did.
With that said, language is more nuanced than that. A person needs to do more than not being afraid to be judged to be a hero in my book.
Yes, as much as every other trans person who has taken that step.
The fact that I don't like her or her political opinions doesn't diminish my respect for her willingness to take risks in trying to be true to herself.
Hell no.
he is not a hero. i feel sorry for him if anything.
Not to me. If it helps some people with the goblins in there heads feel better about who they are then good I'm happy for them. But no, I don't see how switching genders makes him/her any sort of a hero.
not exactly a hero but certainly an inspiration for other people going through the same. otherwise all other transgender people would have to also be considered heroes or whatever you want to call them.
I was Jenner's personal choice,
Nothing heroic about it.
She was voted woman of the Year for being woman for only a year. Lol
She's just doing what she wants. That takes courage, sure, but it doesn't make her a hero.
Yes her sexual reassignment surgery had the batman bonus procedure included.
That bitch is making all sorts of money for nothing, you can bet his junk is in his trunk.
Bruce is bold for what he did.
However, it's his own demon!!
No, a fraud and a disgrace to his family.
No. He is a pathetic moron.
That's an emphatic "no."
A hero. Are you kidding?
woman of the year - never had a period...
Not sure how that makes someone a hero
No, hell no.
