If one describes their political opponents like comic book villains are they ignorant of politics?

Ayn Rand (this isn't about her remember) is an example of somebody who sounds like a comic book villain to me and I don't have to disparage her at all, just post her quotes.

Politicians are self serving liars. They are not altruistic. Therefore, a political opponent who engages in character assassination is a hypocrite. Voters who fall for character assassination are both gullible and ignorant of politics. They should judge a politician's policies, actions and behavior, not fantasize about their character.

People are complicated. Some may engage in immoral or criminal behavior, but they are not pure evil, two dimensional comic book villains who cackle and wring their hands with glee at their evilness.
