+1 yLet’s be fair to Russia for this…Ukraine shut down Russia’s water source… they are a border that supports a known enemy… Ukraine is a USA satellite colony. We installed their government like we always do… Russians in Ukraine have been treated badly for years even citizens… Putin’s doing what he can for his people in my opinion…Also let’s not forget the good things that come from this. War stimulates economy… unless he’s a complete dunce, which he is, Biden will be forced to reopen the Keystone Pipeline for security thus reducing gas and oil prices and giving many people jobs… if a war do actually happen then imagine all these weak ass men and women being forced to grow up.“Strong men make easy times. Easy times make weak men. Weak men make hard times. Hard times make strong men.”Don’t know who said this but this will be helpful for our economy, population, society, and way of thinking. Gives our government the opportunity to prove its necessity to the people and restore their faith in it. Then again that’s if Biden don’t fumble the damn ball which he will…

The UN has now pretty much said, this underpins the end of fossil fuels and countries need to be self sufficient with fuels, the EU pretty much echoed that,
Germany have woken up and are going to build up and rebuild, reequip, modernise, their Armed Forces and a lot of European nations are also looking at their ability to wage war,
A business will now look at Russia as a high risk investment.
Having all flights from and to Russia banned is not going to be helping them.
How would the US, UK governments be if they suddenly had all flights banned.
no one from their countries able to go n holiday, carry out business trips.
Would the people realistically vote for the party that got them into this situation?
(yes I appreciate Russia is a dictatorship).
It is pretty much being removed from the semiconductor supply chain.
that alone would cripple a number of technical countries.81 Reply- +1 y

+1 yI think that if very quickly the Russian population dethroned the current administration and form a more world friendly government Russia could regain some acceptance around the world.
However if things continue to go as is Russia loses no matter of the end results in the Ukraine. I think Russia will permanently lose business from around the world and become isolated with the handful of friends China, North Korea and a few other dictator countries. Being banned from the worlds banks will cripple their economy in short order and new sources for oil will be found to leave Russia using their oil for swimming pools.
It's such a shame as most of the general population of Russia are kind people who just want to live their lives, yet have not stood up to down this insane dictator.00 Reply
Hurting them of course! Just see what WW2 did for Germany. This might not become a world war, but it's already spreading outrage and resistance around the world.

1.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. That's up to Putin. By doing this Putin has isolated Russia and has put Russia and Russia's people in a major bind here's the crazy part. Putin is totally embarrassed that he has failed he could lose his presidency because of this people will vote him out of office which they should do anyway but the man is still in charge at the moment old takes for him is for him to go through a mental breakdown and say fuck the world and shoot off a nuclear weapon and that changes everything what's somebody sends one missile everybody's going to send missiles and we will all be destroyed we will all die and if you didn't die you would pray to God that you would die just because of the burns from radiation
10 Reply412 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Best case scenario is that one way or another, Putin gets booted out of office in the very near future, the war ends, and sanctions against Russia are dropped before they cause too much harm to average Russians. That's also the *only* scenario that would help most Russians in the long term.
Worst case scenario is obviously nuclear apocalypse, but thankfully that's very unlikely.
The seemingly most likely scenario is that Russia wins the war, but spends the next 5-10 years fighting an asymmetrical war with resistance fighters, sanctions remain in place and cause average Russians to lose their entire life savings, and Russia becomes a pariah state like North Korea.20 Reply- 1.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yHurt them for sure.
Already there are anti-Russian messages being sent because of Putin's decision to declare war on Ukraine and move in to seize it. Many of these people in Russia don't support the decision and many have been arrested for protesting and asking Putin to stop.
Should Russia win or lose this engagement it will be the pariah of all countries for decades to come. The real victims of Russia will be those that never wanted this and will be hit with the effect of sanctions and living difficulties to go with prejudice just because of their nationality.
Then comes a matter of credibility and undermining for the potential new leader of Russia once Putin is gone. Rather than looking at the actions of one man. Everyone is going to associate them as a whole because of his decisions.10 Reply
+1 yTheir economy is in freefall, ruble is almost worthless. Companies are abandoning assets ,(Exxon left $4 billion worth of assets in Russia, just walked away)
No company will locate there until Putin is gone and a real stable democracy takes hold. It's sad what Putin has done to Russia.10 Reply752 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Putin is pretty screwed now. He was banking on Ukraine surrendering easily. If he keeps destroying the country he will be hated forever and lose the support of the world and even the Russian people. If he backs out now he looks lame and weak. It was a huge miscalculation and he has no way out. Additionally, multiple European countries have already announced new military spending to counter the threat of Russia

Well said!
It will hurt them long term. Russia will now have the reputation Germany still has to cope with: being remembered as aggressive murderous monsters. Russia's economy is destroyed, and for certain Russian families, their military sons and daughters are coming home in body bags.
10 Reply5.8K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. The only real "benefit" for Russia at this point is that it is strengthening their previously lukewarm ties with China, and by that I really mean it is making them more dependent on China. Virtually the entire rest of the world (including the Taliban) are at least verbally condemning the Russian government, which is at best a net zero gain for them.
00 Reply- 540 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yOnly hurting. They are now further alienated from the rest of the world. Even if they backed out now, the repercussions would last for a long time. I admire the Russian people though, for taking to their streets in protest in spite of the threat of arrest.

+1 yIf they win they will win long term because they will have total monopoly on the oils in Europe. But this will take time to show because of huge sanctions and other restrictions which might take many years before they get removed
10 ReplyThey are hurting them... But sanctions will just give Putin more popularity, just like what happened with Iran.
The west is used to demonize and target populations in political conflicts. as a way to turn non democratic nations against their leaders. as a result it gives autocrats more support, we saw this in Iran, north korea, Syria you name it.00 Reply10.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. In the long-term, I think it hurts the Russians because World opinion is so against them at this point and probably will continue to be so and even worse when the actual results of the war against Ukraine become apparent to everyone. There are going to be a lot of injured and dead people and the Russians will be held responsible for virtually every one of them.
10 Reply- 5.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yI think it might help Russia long term but Putin will be punished a long time and it really hurts now. Their economy could still collapse. I don't think it will totally. If it did , he is going to blame the west and he could use Nukes , not impossible. When you have nothing else to lose you lose it.
00 Reply 11K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Hurting. Their economy will take years to recover at this rate, and their reputation will take longer than that. I mean right now the ruble is worth about the same as my pocket change right now, about a nickle.

+1 yIt won’t help from long term perspective. They will lose their economy. Well they have to depend more on China, india and few other nations only for the trade..

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI mean... Russia is desperate so they have nothing to lose. Their gas and oil export is threatened by Americans who became independent on oil supply and gas. America is selling oil and gas more than any country now. and America is trying to enter into EU market. I mean.. Russia don't have anything except oil and gas. And Ukraine has a lot of oil and gas pipeline and they make money from it. So, Russia is desperate to gain market share. It's all natural resources war.
10 Reply1.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It depends on the outcome. If they completely take over Ukraine it will help Russia, but if they stop it will hurt them. If they take over Ukraine they will have much more useful farmland and even more energy access.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yPutin has shot himself (and the Russian people) in the foot. He is hated by the entire world now.
And the Russian people, who have all grown used to being normal, respected international citizens, realize that they are suddenly the most hated people in the world, so they will certainly hate Putin as well.
It's a bad deal for everyone involved, and all fingers point to Putin as the biggest piece of human shit since Hitler.00 Reply11.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Helping.
Russia is in a stronger position than the West. Hence why the whole West has had to band together to put it under sanctions - and Russia is still there!12 Reply- +1 y

+1 yI don't think Russian people want this war. The people of a country rarely ever really want a war generally, cause they're the ones that are gonna die in it. The leaders are who want the war. Cause nothing happens to them. It makes them gain power.

Yes I've been watching Chinese state tv.
They are really angry with Putin. They were watching , hoping to invade Taiwan (it's obvious if you listen to them ) now they see a unified west , pretty much every free democracy on the planet is opposing Putin's war.
Taiwan is now off the table for china at least in the near future. They aren't happy about how this is going.

01 Reply- +1 y
Let me try to understand what you get your info from to make it seem that is a republican problem? Ok republican party is not in control and democrats to be the majority leader. Biden shut down oil production and the pipe line from Canada to USA and turned on the Nordstrom Line for Russia to be supply oil that we have been paying so much for as th UK to the amount of money going to Russia to the other countries and our country was $ 700 million per day and how long Have you been doing math to come up with 700 million a day since the day he was in the office till now that they’re bankrupt you need to go back to school for your mouth and your history and whatever is going on in the current world. Maybe you’re learning of social me I don’t know but you have it all wrong if Republicans were at fault I would throw them under the bus right now this is a democrat issue whoever’s controlling the Democrat party which I do not think it’s their button but it’s behind there somewhere maybe George Soros I have no idea I cannot comment on that right now Republicans are not in power we are the minority party Democrats have control of everything right now so that comment is bullshit whether I respect your opinion or not I will let you make it as I can make mine
