m +1 ybecause this is not accurate...
some doctors and some insurance companies make it part of their policies in order to provide their services, that the couple is informed of the procedure that affects them both, as a couple... and this is in order to prevent lawsuits but is not required by law
in fact... the actor Dax Shepard got a vasectomy without the written consent from her actress/wife Kristen Bell, and there were no legal consequences for this, because it is not against the law02 Reply- +1 y
Oh ok that’s good. My husband said when he got one about ten years ago the doctor said he would need the wife to sign before he would do it if he was married and from what I saw online it looked like it was but not everything you read online is accurate.
- +1 y
that is usually the case with online stories and accounts... it is also possible that the situation might be different from state to state across the nation... and maybe some doctors or clinics, insurance companies have more or less strict policies for their clients

Correct. An individual doctor may require it, often to shield themselves from a potential lawsuit by the wife if she's upset, but it is not legally required.

That makes more sense.

@Uptowngirl88 Well, she had incorrect information, asked the question, got the correct information and thanked people for giving it to her. I don't have any problem with that and isn't that what the purpose of this website is?

"It is required by law that the wife signs giving consent."
Yeah, f*ck that! If a woman can get an abortion whenever she wants with literally no say-so from the father of the child, then a man can 100% get a vasectomy without the wife's "consent," no matter what the law says. No law can control what I do with my body, just like no law should control what a woman does with her body. I'd sooner kill people who stood in my way than deny me my choice of what I do with my body. "The wife needs your consent." I'd slap whoever said that to me.
I'd say more on this issue, but I don't want to piss myself off at how f*cked this is.
Thank you, @annabananna, for shedding light on this.20 Reply- 6.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.

It states that ; "It is not a legal requirement to involve both partners in the decision-making and consent process. There is a widespread misconception that a wife must consent to her husband undergoing vasectomy."

+1 yNever heard of that before, here where i live it's usually the wife who needs the permission of her husband about nearly everything but they are getting their freedom more and more with time...
When it comes to this point that i need a permission of my wife to get such things done than for i'll start breaking the laws, no one in the world can tell me what i can or can't do...
Especially that i'm somewhat a traditional man who believes in gender roles and that the husband is the head of the house...
Anyways i won't undergo such surgeries...
The only thing that my future wife will sign are the marriage papers 😂00 Reply
+1 yBecause we live in a misandristic society disguised as a patriarchy so that it said misandristic society can’t be criticized. Mine as well be a matriarchy with male presidents. It’s no longer the will of the people, it’s the will of the women. Because no one, even the men, give a single fuck about men in American society

Just wait until your wife sues you because in your prenuptial, Boy unknowingly signed that he will birth child with the equivalent penis or 10 month battery charged incubator. And in the finer print is one is only allowed to “fwck” the fake vagina in incubator.
And, of course, “the new boy 📦 “ would strap around your waist. AND/OR plug 🔌 in at Job on Market Floor…00 Reply

Men have no rights to children not given by the mother.10 Reply
Anonymous(18-24)+1 yThe reason why men need our consent to do this is because we would never be able to have children. I would not give consent for my husband to do this because I want children. If he marries me then it is expected we have children and he helps me raise them.

Married women don’t need consent anymore to get tubes tide or an abortion. I understand it would be horrible for a man to secretly get it done and just pretend they are having trouble conceiving but it’s does not seem fair to me.
Opinion Owner+1 yMen for hundreds of years limited our rights so why should we cave in and give them rights over stuff like this?

“The oppressed, instead of striving for liberation tend to become the oppressors.” Let’s strive to change that quote to be less true. Two wrongs don’t make a right.
Opinion Owner+1 yWhere did you get that quote from? How can we ever oppress men?

It is a quote from Paulo Friere.

@Anonymous
What the fuck gives women the right to do what I want with my body?
And what the fuck gives you the right to tell men they have no control over their bodies while implying women should have control over theirs.
You seem like a shitty human being and I hope you're just trolling.
Opinion Owner+1 yI’ve already said if the man gets one done without her consent, she will never be able to have children and we have a limited time to have children.

Get these laws and papers to me so i wipe my ass with it and please record it while i'm doing it...
I'm ready to go to the jungles if such things ever happens!
People who sign such laws are really signing their death certificate...
Believe me with or without laws, my future wife will need my consent in nearly everything but she won't be sad or oppressed, it's just that this is how the things are supposed to me, i'm a man for a reason and she's a woman for a reason!
No woman in the world can boss unless she wants to sleep with a one eye opened!
