3.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Well, the whole point of the site is discussion and debate. You certainly have the capacity to block anyone you choose for any reason you choose.
However, that really defeats the point of the G@G site. This not to mention the irony that you presumably blocked the "pro-war" "Trump supporter" because you find his/her views intolerant. As the old Biblical saw has it, "Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone."
For my part, I make it a rule that the only people on this site that I "block" are those who use crude and vulgar language or who choose to be insulting or threatening. Indeed, even with the latter, I allow some latitude given that debates can get quite heated and sometimes people will say things that they do not mean. Thus I start by giving them the benefit of the doubt.
Otherwise, however gratifying to one's ego, there is little point in having "debates" with people with whom you are already in agreement with. You are not apt to learn very much nor get better at honing and refining your own opinions and arguments. Nor are they apt to learn much from you, grant that often, as someone once said, "You cannot reason a person out of a viewpoint into which they were not reasoned to begin with."
No matter. Whatever chance you may have for doing so is precluded when you end the debate before it begins.
Lastly, although not strictly applicable to this site, blocking those with whom you are in disagreement is rather ironic in the broadest sense. Americans often declare how proud they are that they live in a democracy where opinions are freely expressed and all debate the nature of the common good openly.
Suffice to say, your action on this site - not to mention "cancel culture," "wokeism," "political correctness" and all the rest - makes a mockery of that pride. You honor those values of freedom only in the breech. It is a dedication to the principles of freedom and free speech that is really only skin deep.
So you did have the power to do what you did. Was it wise and principled? That is a different and more profound question - and don't be surprised, and don't complain, if others do unto you what you have done to them.00 Reply

You do what you wish of course, but you are cowardly censoring opinions you don't like, thereby closing your mind to learning and considering differing views.
Awaiting you blocking me...01 Reply
Asker+1 yNo not on this site I meant some guy on Instagram
Anonymous(25-29)+1 yThere’s no right or wrong. It’s a personal choice. It cuts down on your opportunity to see points of view that you yourself don’t subscribe to, but some people like echo chambers and are offended by opinions they disagree with.
For those people, the block button was created.15 Reply
Asker+1 yIt was some guy i met once 2 years ago and he kept messaging everytime I posted something. I blocked I didn't like his attitude always flipping out over politics
Opinion Owner+1 yIt’s one thing to be bothered or harassed, and it’s reasonable to block people for those things.
However, I was commenting on the post which you said you blocked someone because of their opinion.
I just don’t get why people come to a site like this just to block those who disagree with them.
Asker+1 yHe was annoying kept messaging me and I hardly knew him
Asker+1 yThis was also on Instagram not on this site
Opinion Owner+1 yI stand corrected.
THAT is the reason the block button was created.
And wisely so

+1 yPersonally, I think it's stupid to block someone who has an opposing opinion as you since that way you can't get into a rational discussion. Just talking to people with the same opinion as you will not help you as a person learn and potentially change your own opinion on certain topics. But you have the freedom to do as you please so if you think it was right then there's nothing more to say about it.

Asker+1 yJust his attitude about it tho just came across as a jersey and by the way this was on Instagram. He had like "piss off" in his captions and seemed like somone with a massive temper as he would post lots of punch bag workout. Another reason I blocked him was because I hardly knew him and he would message me everytime I posted something I only met him. omce at work 2 years ago
Asker+1 yAs a jerk**

That's different than just blocking them for their views. If they're doing everything they can to try and annoy you then block or ignore them if you want. Either way go with whatever you feel is the right decision.
Asker+1 yhis desperation was scary at the same time I barely knew him and he was over texting me and he must of known I wasn't interested in him like that. Plus he lived in Canada and I live in Scotland and he was like "oh I can retire in the scottish Highlands" kinda creeper me out

+1 yWell, if you are blocking folks just because they are trump supporters maybe it was.
I have trump supporters in my discussion group. If people are willing to talk and attempt to be rational, why would you block them?04 Reply

Asker+1 yI also don't find Asian guys attractive and their culture/food choices is not something I would like just my opinion. Don't get me wrong I have many Asian friends but they would never be someone i would be in a relationship with
+1 yPro war and a trump supporter? That usually doesn’t go hand in hand. I know it’s Peace through Strength, but we don’t initiate war without a threat first.
I’d say you were wrong to block them unless they were getting personal and calling you names?00 Reply6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. There is no wrong in blocking anyone for any or no reason, unless you work for them
00 Reply751 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Yeah, you only want opinions from people who think like you. That way you'll always feel good and right. Women need that.

Asker+1 yTbh I blocked him because I don't want to see political posts constantly and he would message me about politics constantly... kinda pushing shit onto tbh
3.8K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I am anti war and a Trump supporter. I do not care for the professional political overseers of either major party. You can block me and I would not care.

@IsoUser War is a total waste of resources. It destroys property and life. But if you have to fight. Be ruthless and finish off the enemy. Trump was the only person that was not part of the professional political overseer class. That is why I likes him. He is vain and thin skinned. He was attacked by all the professional politicians. That tells me something. he was a threat to all of the swamp creatures of both major parties. A professional politician has one job, to get reelected.
+1 yYou have the right to block anyone at anytime for any reason. You can even block me for agreeing with you. 😜

I think he got the wrong message because I think he liked me. He must of been lonely felt like I was his only person he would talk with and he lives another country. I also spoke to him once at work 2 years ago when I lived in his country (Canada)
