Do you think that the Russian Warship Moskva was sunk by a Ukrainian missile or an "accident"?

For those who haven't heard the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet the cruiser Moskva was sunk.

According to Russia, a fire broke out causing ammunition to detonate while Ukraine says they hit it with a Neptune missile.

Now negligence can sink ships. If you remember back to 2000, the Russian submarine Kursk carried peroxide torpedoes that weren't properly maintained and during a training exercise, one of these torpedoes exploded while it was being loaded into a tube. This explosion then detonated.

But it could have been a combination of both. By that I mean that protocols for ammunition handling and storage weren't followed. So while the ship would have survived the hit had protocol been followed, because it wasn't the missile strike caused a magazine to ignite, fatally wounding the ship.

The Slava-class cruisers are not exactly state of the art... They were first built in the late 70s and less than half of the planned ships actually made it to sea- three in total, with only one each to the Black Sea, North Sea, and Pacific. Apparently the Ukrainian missile (s) hit the munition storage, which caused critical damage. My understanding is that this didn't actually sink the ship on its own, but it was beyond or not worth recovery, so the Russians moved it out of the way (presumably to deeper water where it won't block movement of other vessels) and let it sink. This was most likely an unexpected success on Ukraine's part, but it is possible that they were aware of the ship's weakpoints because a fourth, incomplete Slava-class cruiser has been collecting dust in a Ukrainian port since the Soviet Union collapsed. Ukraine has sunk 4 Russian surface ships and damaged an additional unknown number.

All Putin is going to do is eventually force the Soviets to replace him with a Communist hard-liner. Putin is of the Oligarchical “King era”. The more Russian failures, foreign powers effectiveness, the more the Nation will trend towards a Putin removal and a conquering Soviet hardliner replacement. Somewhere between Brezhnev and Stalin styled.
China is NOT scared BUT disappointed. They can not move into Taiwan as NATO will not be Double Front position.

Most likely they shot at it when it was already sinking and then claimed it was their doing as there was nobody on board they clearly left it there to sink.

It was sunk by missiles.

The Russians while they have a fairly shit safety record, use fairly safe munitions.

pretty much everything is self contained.

It is actually fairly hard to set off munitions these days,

the Russians are saying, yeah we are shit we blew up our flagship with the best sailors in the Russian navy, who have been in plenty action.

No doubt when Ukraine gets its land launched Harpoons, the Russians will have yet more accidents.

I mean I tend to think that it was taken out by Ukraine. A fire taking out the flagship of the Russian Black Sea fleet during their invasion is a little too much “good luck” in my opinion.

Russia of course won’t confirm it was taken out in a strike, because they don’t want to give Ukraine and the West a public relations win.

When it comes to war, sometimes lucky equals good. I'm certain those 2 missiles Ukraine shot at it made contact. If you do enough damage in the right place, any boat's gonna find a new home at the bottom of the ocean.

The US already released a statement saying that somehow a fire broke out on the ship. It might have been sabotage but it wasn’t a missile. The missile was just Ukrainian propaganda.

Putin said it was an accident... so... logic would suggest that it was a missile that did it.
