It's a concept not a scenario.

This is partially true. For starters, the numbers used are based entirely on what people claim, which may or may not even be accurate, especially with vague or subjective benchmarks.
For basically ~50% of the population to drop out of the workforce, this would require that the significant majority of jobs pay well enough to sustain a single-earner household while supporting 2-3 kids each (on average). This was doable and in fact normal in the 1950s, but has been getting increasingly difficult to do from roughly the mid-60s onward to the point it's basically a conservative wet dream and nothing more today, and the current state of the economy is making it even more difficult and very unlikely to change course in the foreseeable future. Simply raising wages wouldn't solve the issue because salaries and wages themselves are an expense that gets passed on to consumers, thereby raising the costs for those families. Likewise government spending/subsidies are passed on to taxpaying individuals and businesses, and at the end of the day there are exactly no services or benefits that are actually free. When you take all of this into account, this means that the workforce has to be steady; women who are having kids are effectively removed from the workforce during later stages of pregnancy and early child development, so relying on men as the working sex makes more sense from any standpoint of pragmatism just on that fact alone, but it couldn't just be done without putting all of society through some shock regardless.
I think that if men suddenly stopped working, the world would turn into chaos lol. Women are really destructive because they haven't had to evolve to manage their emotions like men have. I think it would all pan out though.
Women tend to be creative and detail oriented. I think there would be more accountability in the world, maybe too much.
Considering the labor shortage, having half the workforce stop working on either side would seem like it would make things get real bad. There is already businesses that have signs saying closed today due to labor shortage please come back tomorrow.
Although personally I'm better percentage wise than the numbers for the men.
The supposed labour shortage is just a ploy to justify bringing in low skilled labor from elsewhere, rather than pay the wage that would balance the job in the marketplace.
Well, I think so, but others may think otherwise.
Men did most of the work back then, before women started working. Men were the soul providers.
Men did most of the PAID work back then. Women have always been workers, but they did unpaid labor like child rearing and housekeeping. It's still work, though.
@zeitgeist057 I mean yea, but he is talking about paid work…lol
I don't think he thought of all the unpaid work that women do when he said "if women stopped working, everything would continue...". Anyone who thinks that if half the world just sat down and stopped doing anything life would continue as normal, is not thinking clearly.
@zeitgeist057 Did you read the update? lol
@joygirl yep funny, I guess we weren't supposed to take the literal words literally, we were supposed to read his mind and know what he wrote wasn't what he meant. I thought it was women who supposedly do that? lol or it's just a backpedaling now that so many people have answered saying it's wrong. Misogyny, what can you do? He will find a man to love him or a self-hating woman.
@zeitgeist057 you should apologize to yourself for having a limited thinking capacity.
@lofii you’re barking up the wrong tree, kiddo. 😂 you’ve already established your complete lack of credibility in the cognition department, so save yourself the embarrassment. I suggest you submit one more pathetic attempt to zing me, then block me so as to avoid any rebuttal.
@JoyGirl
I agree kind of
Like if all the female workers quit their jobs all at once that would be an issue but if they quit slowly over time then we would be able to get through it most likely because the major issue would would just be a massive logistical failure due to a large portion of the workforce just magically disappearing
Men have been operating Nations and running economies for centuries now and during this time men have created machines to automate just about everything and automation is becoming more and more dramatic
Though there is a couple of issues that would need to be settled
First off wages would need to increase dramatically if they want the human race to survive because of people can't afford to feed their family then that would be an issue
Secondly we would need to get over the logistics of having a large portion of the workforce just magically disappear but if we're talking about just a general thought process of "oh hey if we didn't have to worry about the logistical nightmare would it work" then I'd say yeah would totally work wouldn't be an issue
Third we would need to have to reevaluate housing on a global scale because if women aren't working then they really can't afford to be single unless they have something to fall back on or you could just incentivize marriage for women which I guess would work wouldn't be my favorite option but it WOULD be effective.
I had a fourth point but I completely forgot about it while putting the word "would" in all caps

Nope, don’t agree at all.
In the UK alone, there are about 15.52 million women aged 16+ were in employment in October to December 2021.
In June 2021, 37.7% of directors of FTSE100 companies were women.
In the FTSE250 (the next largest 250 listed companies outside the FTSE100), 34.9% of directors were women.
https://researchbriefings.files.parliament.uk/documents/SN06838/SN06838.pdf
In the US it’s around 71 million women are working.
I am fairly sure it’s insecure guys that go for this bollox about women not working.
Good luck next time someone gets admitted to hospital without any women working there.
Women are employed in pretty much every sector, some areas are greatly increasing in the % of women working in what were male dominated areas.
Even the military is moving more women in to areas once only filled by guys and yes they manage to do pretty everything with the handful of exceptions.
For me it’s guys being insecure or living too long on Mummy’s basement, that believe the bollox about women not working.
@lofii so what’s your job then?
Yeah yeah
@PrettyPriya what you think of the erm question….
Consider this: water processing and distribution, electrical generation and distribution, fuel acquisition, refinement and distribution are all virtually 100% male jobs, and farming is 90% male.
If men disappeared, clean water would last about 2 weeks, gas and water not even that long, and electricity might not even last a day.
Even if you could somehow do everything else, those few areas would cause a Mad Max-type apocalypse as women fought each other over food and water while some still existed.
It's also not like anyone - man or woman - could just show up and take over these jobs - they take months or years to learn, and that assumes you have someone experienced to learn from.
Men do very close to 100% of the infrastructure jobs. A world with no working infrastructure, especially in the cities, would quickly become a violent free-for-all.
From my experience in the corporate world: if women stopped keeping executives on task for the agenda, all corporate boardrooms would be reduced to ramblings about whatever sports or tv show the highest ranking man is currently obsessed with.
Also, clients would be avoided, not greeted.
Payroll wouldn't happen (I've never met a payroll accountant who was a man), and thus rioting in the office buildings would begin.
I give it a week before it's Planet of the Apes but set in office buildings decked out in the colours of the CEO's favourite sports teams.
Lol, I actually make the robots that do other people's jobs.
Lol, you're not my type.
I fully agree. Wasn't it feminists who whined that we live in a "patriarchy" and that men already run the world, anyway? Surely, they'd have to vote Yes on this, right?
As for me, I make about $2,400 a month after taxes and bills (in Korean currency, of course) and spend about $750 of that each month. I almost saved up to $11,000 this year before I got dental work done; that took out a good $2,500 and that's WITH insurance. Damn dental work is such a pain in the ass.
disagree. because the reason women work is not for fluffy equality reasons but cause in many societies the lower income families can not survive without the woman working anymore.
so women is very much a necessity for a good chunk of the population. also remember how after ww2 germany was ruined and there were almost no fit men left. women rebuilt without men. so i would say things would go a heck of a lot worse without men working. but it would also be worse if women didn't work. not quite as much but still.
No teaching would hit a near instant standstill which would effect males abilities to go work in the first place other so would nurse's which qould effect drs which also fuck up most hospitals with how many men and women exists in the workforce either gender stop working would have horrendous ripple effects
In the 60s this might've been true, but in today's world where everyone working generates more wealth, and taxes for the government, women not working at all anymore would be like a drop in employment that affect the economy. It's hard for a woman to be lazy anymore, unless she's overweight and doing OnlyFans.
Yes and no. Lots of jobs do require a more physical touch but women aren't stupid. They would have to find a way to get things moving, rather they like it or not. If women stop working, their are jobs that require a more women like touch, ex: nursing. The elderly and the young would be greatly affected by this along with doctors sense nurses from what I know of make the vast majority of nurses
Do you know why the percentage of women in work force isn't higher? If you did you wouldn't be asking this question
But do you know why in reality the percentage is smaller
The world got on just fine with few working women for a long time…and with much lower efficiency technology. In theory, we should not only not need women working, but men should work far less as well!
unfortunately, we are slaves and 90% of what we produce ensures our masters live like kings while we struggle
There is no way in the average American man could afford to pay for a family on his salary alone.
I have no idea of where you are going with this.
Most men make less than $40,000 a year. That's messed up.
Nobody realizes we would also suffer significantly if all women stopped working?
https://www.pbs.org/newshour/economy/heres-economy-look-like-without-women
How anyone could believe that the world could function if literally half the workforce went away is something that baffles me.
@This_Is_My_Opinion8 i suppose standard or vanilla intelligence is not in demand on GAG. Unlike their alternative intelligence.
There's a balance in the world... more like car that is going on a road.. if either of the tyres would burst, the car would crash...
There are some duties that only men can do
And there are duties that only women can do...
I mean, if you know a way to just POOF fill 71 million jobs left by women that everyone would need weeks/years of training for, but just Beam the knowledge in their head, then sure, women could just stop working I guess
Not fully. I think women would make a valiant effort. But a lot of pickle jars would go unopened. 🤣
My boy funny
I think the world would be fine with less men in the workplace.
during WW2 with so many men gone to war, women stepped right in and took their place, doing the same jobs that men did.
wut? women... work? That's the funniest thing I've heard all day. 🤣
The way the world is and the economy sysyem is set up I disagree.
If women stopped working you are probably talking about at least 1 billion jobs lost around the world.
The economy will be severely screwed instantly.
how are you going to fill up the jobs left behind if all women left the workforce?
we have a job shortage. not a worker shortage. i know what the evil corporate media says that we're in worker shortage but no, they just want people to work unlivable wages in demeaning positions.
@007kingifrit there are more women in the workforce than men without a job though. fields like nursing and teaching, that aren't easy to fill without extensive training would be hit especially hard too
I do not tend to agree with stupidity...
no exception this time
I would say I think it's right considering men used to do most of the work before and it's only recently that there's so many women working.
I don't know we are about that way anymore nobody wants to work or can't
I'm pretty sure the Taliban could tell you exactly how the rollback is going for them.
If any significant group of humans just stopped, the rest would pick up the slack. Humans are incredibly adaptable.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics since the last December women make up for most of the workforce. No really it was 50.04% of the workforce or something like that.
A few things.
I am a civil engineer and I can tell you nurses have a harder job than construction workers do. I see them everyday I know.
You can say that some construction workers have it harder. But that's like saying since the top chefs are men that men cook on average better than women. The top doesn't represent the most.
Yes you do need those jobs for the world to function. Without accounting the economy will collapse. The guy that is transporting food will not leave the dock without payment. Same thing with fuel.
You are literally taking away finances from society and expect it to work. It would it we return to caves.
By the way women make up 36% of farmers. Good luck making up for that whitout causing hunger.
And just googled it women represent 30% of all scientists and engineers worldwide. Again good luck.
Behind every successful man is a stressed and busy wife. Behind every successful woman is her dad.
Saw a video about it a while ago.
It was basically apocalypse.
Logistics, manufacturing, infrastructure maintenance, etc. It almost 100% men.
Every girl i ever dated was terrible with money. One was ok enough to budget and save but didn't invest couldnt earn anything significant so its not like she could take it that far.
Of course, women are valued just for being, men are valued by what they do.
@ManOnFire No, I'm not
It was that way in the 50s and worked until the cost of everything went up and we needed a second income, it would make a difference but not as much as difference if all men stopped working
Anyone remeber when women went on strike? It happened.. But literally nothing was affected. Nothing at all.
If only 30% of the work force stopped working, we all would be in deep shit
Not completely only because more things would end of men stopped working than women but I think saying everything is a bit of a stretch.
Actually women do have essential work to do. Cooking, cleaning and looking after the kids.
Even a percent sudden drop in certain fields would be a disaster.
We'd just go back in time 100 years.
Nope, it wouldn’t end. People would adapt
If 50% of any workforce stopped suddenly we’d be fcked either way, dingus.
I agree. Women cannot handle money.
That's true because more men are working
That’s jus stupid….
Lol🤣🤣fantasy…. We are already working as CEO’s.. president s etc. we are welders , construction workers and mechanics.
Do u know why it's few? Hint : patriarchal oppression
@anon1903 yes……what she said.
disagree
Yes I agree
How?
İ don't
no. health area. Without women, the country would not develop. When I see questions like this, my hatred for men increases.
