I'm a small business owner/operator (5th generation in the line of succession of family businesses). While it doesn't compare to the scale of corporate CEO or government leadership, there are a few similarities. I find gender isn't really the issue but age can be. I have people working for me that have been here long before I was even born, and I'm aware there's some underlying resentment because what man or woman in his 60s truly enjoys working for a 24 year old? The fact I'm a woman really has nothing to do with it. There are a lot of folks who are more comfortable with someone who has a little bit of obvious seasoning (wrinkles and some grey hair on the temples) than they are someone who lacks comparable experience. Can't say I blame them either. If I have to undergo surgery, I'd probably go with the surgeon who obviously has had more experience than the one who looks fresh out of medical school.40 Reply

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yUgh, this question again. I'm sure it's a waste of my time but I'll try to explain it for you... again.
Men don't hate powerful women. Many women just use that as an excuse to explain why men don't like them or find them attractive. I know a number of women who you would consider powerful women. Some are wonderful and among my favorite people. Others, not so much. The difference has literally nothing to do with being powerful and everything to do with their personalities and attitudes toward men.
There is another element to this that should be mentioned. Just like women are attracted to masculinity, men are also attracted to femininity. Many powerful women simply do not know how to be feminine. Their personalities and behaviors are not attractive to most men, just like the personalities and behaviors of effeminate men are not attractive to most women. There's nothing wrong, per se, with a woman having masculine traits, but there is also nothing wrong with men not being attracted to them. It's just nature. But don't mistake a lack of attraction for hate.
What's going on here is that women who don't have success with men or feel men don't like them look in the mirror and ask themselves why, and the ones who view themselves as powerful or "strong and independent" often conclude the problem must be that "men hate powerful women". It's a shame that people like you keep perpetuating that myth because it only hurts women by obscuring the real reasons for their failures with men instead of focusing on things they can improve that would actually make a positive difference for them.
None of this is rocket science, but you'd think it was considering how hard it is for some women to comprehend.15 Reply
Asker+1 ywhat if the women looks drop dead gorgeous?
Asker+1 y*woman. and she's also in a position of power. acts authoritative as it's natural for anyone in a position of power to do so.
Opinion Owner+1 yI don't know what her being drop dead gorgeous has to do with any of this.
What does "acting authoritative" mean in this context? Anyone in a position of authority can be either kind or unkind, pleasant or abrasive. No one like leaders who are unkind and abrasive regardless of their gender. When it's a man we call him an asshole, when it's a woman we call her a bitch. Men are turned off by bitches. It's not a sexist thing, just reality. Unfortunately, women often conclude it is and then men "hate powerful women".- +1 y
@Anonymous
BRAVO! This answer was so perfect, it makes me think I wrote it and forgot about it, LOL!
@Asker
Just like women can smell a man's insecurity from a mile away, men can smell a woman's defense mechanism from a mile away. Feminists have been doing the "It's not my fault for all of my problems in life, it's ALL men who are the problem" BS for decades now. We know it when we see it.![Why do men hate powerful women?]()
And trust me; women who act like this are NOT drop-dead gorgeous. Being bitter ages women like sour milk. Look at 35 year old Ana Kasparian. All that scowling and complaining isn't good for your looks.
Asker+1 y@MCheetah bitter? lol. when you are so busy you dont even have any time to think of but your work. how can you become bitter?
We don't. Men just hate women who can't act like women and are so pathetic, they need to pretend to be an "Alpha Male" to mask their crippling insecurities. There are female CEOs, political leaders, female soldiers, etc, that aren't like this, but obviously that's not what the question is about.
Either be a female and act femininity and desire to date men, or be a pseudo "Alpha Male" with an inferiority complex who thinks being feminine is a "weakness" who'll definitely die alone surrounded by cats. Pick one. You don't get both.

Asker+1 ywhat does it mean to be a pseudo alpha male type. like can you give any examples of that?
- +1 y
I gave a ton of examples in the picture above. They're the
"I'm a strong independent woman who don't need no man and make my own money, but men need to pay for me on dates and buy my dinner for me or else he's a cheapskate and a bum that ain't worth my time" type.
And PLENTY of women out there are like that.
Straight Women: If a guy you find really attractive refuses to pay for you on a date and only goes Dutch, would that change your view of him? ↗
+1 yPlease refrain from making hasty generalizations.
Do you have any proof? Survey? *SOME* insecure men may feel threatened by their powerful female SO’s, but not all men are the same.
Both my grandmother and grandfather used to be surgeons. My grandmother earns way more than my grandfather. According to you, ALL men hate powerful women or women who earn more than them. Then why in the world was my grandfather damn proud of his wife for reaching great heights of success in her career?
Some loonies exist, but making broad generalizations and assumptions doesn’t pave the way for much of a conversation.00 Reply

u +1 yWhy do women believe that men hate powerful women?

Asker+1 yBecause we've interacted with such men. thats why.
it's not that each and everyone is women hating. but many are which is just hurtful.- +1 y
Your question sounds very inclusive.
Yes, SOME men hate powerful women and SOME women hate powerful men. Why is it a gender issue?
+1 yI don’t hate powerful women but tbh I simply just don’t think women do well in positions of power and the vast majority of women in positions of power have only gotten there because they kept screaming “sexism sexism sexism” and didn't actually have the merit to be in that position of power. There’s nothing fundamental about women being in positions of power that bothers me

Asker+1 ywhy can't women perform well in your opinion?
- +1 y
Well 1 I think as a society we like to try to get women in positions of power just to have women in positions of power and that’s not fair or right to anyone including women themselves. It devalues women who are actually capable of having a position of power. But besides that I think taller more muscular people have an unfair advantage when it comes to being in a position of power because at the end of the day this is a night is right world and if u don’t have much might it’s going to be hard to tell others what is right. I also think there is social factors like women tend to be coddled when they are upset where as men are kinda just told to deal with it. I think this causes men to be able to look at things in life and be less inclined to act on their emotions. And if ur in a position of power u can’t make decisions based on your emotions and I think a lot more women than men struggle with that. So I guess I think it comes down to biology and gender roles. But I think times are changing and ur seeing more women in positions of power and there is nothing wrong with that but there’s also nothing wrong with women not being in positions of power in my opinion. People should just do whatever they are good at because we all have different skill sets and we are all valuable members of society.
Asker+1 yyk in some cases being tall can be a hindrance also.
also as for what you said about being emotional. mostly people who aren't logical and smart are of that sort. being emotional is just annoying for me.- +1 y
Yeah but humans at least subconsciously associate height with power and it’s effect it’s quite dramatic too. And I feel u.
+1 yI don’t agree. Maybe some powerful women that have destroyed everything in their path to get where they are….. but if it were a guy.. then he was ruthless and respected. That I see. But in a general sense women that are successful to not get enough accolades and I also don’t think they share their stories enough so young women can emulate them. 🎀

Very bad for diversity of thought, and very limiting for productive discussion.00 Reply- 9.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.

Asker+1 yi just dont understand it. i mean technically i can. but yk its just so laughable. like women don't hate successful men. many women like them and find them charismatic even. then why the opposite is often true?

I explained to you already. These men have egos as fragile as cotton.
Strong men aren't intimidated by a woman's career, position, riches etc like these weak whiny losers are.
Asker+1 yunfortunately I've met some rich men who can't stand strong women either

Asker+1 yyou have to do hard work to get these powerful positions. its not a piece of cake. and its definitely not something that an average joe can achieve so yes a powerful person is definitely better than everyone else

Ehhh, I've seen men and women in powerful positions that they didn't deserve or were unqualified for.
I thought like you did till I had experience working in coorperate settings.
Asker+1 yno, i understand what you mean.
what i meant was more like self made millionaires rather than a product of nepotism.- +1 y
Ahhh haha you can't say anything to a self made person, let alone a woman. But I don't think anyone really hates them because their women.
