Basically, a 12 year old white knight sees his lady get offended and put in her place. He comes to his lady aid by attacking the male he believes violated his ladies owner. If you were the older gentlemen in this exchange would you knock his ass out?

No. He presents no real threat. He couldn't even knock over the podium properly. The adult caught it. If he tried to pick up something heavy and hit me with it then I'd have to go hands on, but on his own he is simply incapable of causing harm.
