Nothing will happen. Republicans are only interested in privatizing schools and so will only offer suggestions that are designed to make public schools more miserable with only the barest of thought given to whether or not there is even the illusion that they could make schools safer. Democrats have the right idea but as they are idealists when it comes to the machinations of democracy they won't do anything unless the public can show they care about something for longer than one election cycle. Which is why republicans have devoted 100% of their efforts to distracting and dividing people from their pursuits.
