Woman with a gun stops a bad guy with a gun at West Virginia party. How many lives were saved?

Guy takes out an AR15 and starts shooting wildy into the crowd of people at a graduation/birthday party, and this woman takes out her pistol and shoots the man before he can hurt anybody. "Good girl with gun stops bad guy with gun". Will this story be covered 24/7 by news outlets? This happens way more than people think, but it's rarely given much air time.

The issue with instances like this is that we have no idea how many lives were saved by this woman using her gun. There were potentially hundreds of people at this party, and all of their lives should count as being saved by a gun, right? I mean, if we're keeping track like the anti-gun people do every time someone is killed by use of a gun. What do y'all think about this?

You never really know how many are saved in these situations because there's no real way to measure it without making assumptions.

You will also pretty much never hear about them for the same reason you don't ever hear about success stories from intelligence agencies and law enforcement: when things go well, life goes on and it isn't a tragedy. The news only cares about tragedy and outrage. The conservative estimate supported by FBI statistics (which are probably on the low end) is that firearms are used in self defense by non-law enforcement civilians close to 1,000,000 times each year, in most cases without shots being fired. Even just assuming that all of those events only saved one innocent life, which is unlikely, the obvious conclusion is that a disarmed population would result in a bloodbath. Throw in the idea shared by some that the police should be disarmed too and things get much worse very quickly.

Why not stop the bad guy getting a gun in the first place. The simple truth is even though many people arm themselves for protection it's not deleting people from mass shootings

That and the shooter was black, so it'll be buried immediately.
