Considering there was far fewer school shootings in the America during the Covid lockdowns. should they just ban schools instead of guns?

considering students/teachers were doing online learning instead of going to schools. they had a much lesser chance to be shot by someone else during the Covid lockdowns. so wouldn't it be safer for students/teachers to just ban schools and have them continue online learning instead of all gathering in a physically location.

No they shouldn’t ban school. Parents need to work and not every parent has the luxury to take on a teaching job on top of what they already deal with. You are also taking children out of large amounts of socialization which will cause further problems in the future relating to mental health. I do however think that online schooling should be available to those that have that luxury of not having other responsibilities to attend to while their children are in school

As far as the socialization part of it, why couldn't parents take turns having about 3-10 students hang out at their homes?

@CandiceK because as a college student that has taken online classes, they require a huge amount of learning time outside of the online class. Many classes are more successfully conducted in school.

And the second part is a silly way of thinking especially because it literally goes into more of what if parents don’t have the luxury to take on a day care/babysitting job on top of what they already do?

On top of the fact that if all classes are online , parents still have to be present and at home especially if they are ages 3-13

And yet they somehow manged to do it during covid. Oh, and my 3-10 kid idea of kids studying together, was just to solve the social thing.

It's not that I'm for remote learning, it's just that I think government schools are just too inept to teach kids. We just saw a sad example of that last week.

@CandiceK how many people were actually doing that during Covid? How many kids were excluded from that because their parents didn’t have time? You aren’t thinking about every angle of this. Obviously you seem to be on edge because of last week as everyone else in the world is, however we need to think logically and understand that not everyone has the resources to be fully online. I think online classes should be an option, even as a college student I do prefer online classes but again, online classes are not a useful tool for everyone

I'm not on edge about the shootings, I'm just trying to solve problems. I get that you won't have a chemistry lab at home. You will to go to school sometimes, but not everyday.
And like I said; The best solution would be to get rid of government schools. Then the parents would receive a school voucher to spend at the school of their choice.

Then there would actually be competition between schools, and with that, comes excellence.

@CandiceK is your solution a doable solution though? I think everyone’s adding their opinions on “how to solve “ these issues because of being on edge and fear. It’s completely normal to be on edge and fearful after situations like this. In my opinion your solution doesn’t completely stop shootings from happening because you are still giving the option of people gathering into a building at the end of the day. It’s a very very very hard situation to come to terms of what would work best unfortunately

I didn't invent the idea of school vouchers and school choice. The Republicans have tried to get this for many years, but the Democrats block it from happening. Would private schools be able to guarantee the kid's safety? No. But most likely it wouldn't be the clown show we saw last week. When politicians travel oversees, and especially to a war zone. They demand they are protected by private military.

In 2018, American public schools ranked 38th in the world in math, and 28th in science.
But I'm sure that we rank near the top in money spent per student.

In town A, there is ONE restaurant to choose from. (Only one game in town)
In town B, they had 50 restaurants to choose from. (50 games in town)

Banning schools would actually do a lot of good for a lot of reasons. Your friend might be onto something. Not a permanent ban, just a ten year moratorium on mental assault, then give the unions what they want just in time for midterms when the federal officeholder is not of the party that passed the original bill.
