I was never a huge Trump fanatic. But despite all the hate he face Trump had a higher approval rating than Biden at the same comparative time in office (despite the overwhelming negative press coverage).

Yes there are variables in the economy that are outside of the president’s control when it comes to the economy. However here variables that ARE directly under Biden’s control:

-Afghanistan pull out: besides the destruction and devastation this did to that country it also emboldened Putin. Seriously why didn’t Putin invade Ukraine while Trump was still in office? This directly impact energy costs since Russia is a major exporter of oil.

- Shutting down the XL Keystone pipeline. Biden has put up all sorts of stumbling blocks and regulation for domestic drilling
- Covid “relief” bills and inflation. We were coming out of the pandemic yet Biden further blew out spending (which pushed up inflation further) with all the covid relief packages.

The economy is crap all around the world. I am not saying biden is a good president. Heck, I think he is a horrible president and I am what you would consider more left leaning. But Trump wouldn't have fixed the economy either.

Fixing the economy at this point requires cooperation from all over the world and between a war on european soil, a demented president in the US and a deranged one in Russia, there is just very little of that left.

I find it amusing that when the ecomony is good under a democratic president's it's never because of who the president, but when it's bad under a democratic president then it's totally the president's fault. I've seen the ecomomy rise and fall and most of the time it doesn't matter if the president is republican or democrat.

It absolutely would be in better shape, though maybe not in "good" shape. At least relief and recovery would be in sight as opposed to right now we're basically a boat heading towards a waterfall and the most anyone is doing is arguing whether to turn left or right, but the captain is trying to say the waterfall is a good thing.

The president has little effect on the economy.

Although I think one of the best things Trump did that got little attention was him trying to stop all the mergers and acquisitions. He thought there were too many mega corporations. I totally agree. He wanted competition and saw that we were moving away from it. He was only partially successful, but he did far better then any other president in my lifetime.

The primary cause of the economic downturn were stimulus checks. Basic economics says that if you increase the money prices rise to meet the new income level. So these are the results of Trump/Obama policies.

Plus the polls for "approval" are mostly bogus anyway, and steered by the media opinion.

There are outside variables the President can’t control. However the Biden administration is directly responsible for:

1. The Afghanistan pull out. This emboldened Putin to invade Ukraine which created an oil embargo with drove fuel and energy costs. Higher fuel prices inflated the costs of goods being shipped.

2. Souring relations with Saudi Arabia and OPEC. This further inflated fuel costs.

3. Printing insane amounts of money to fund covid relief packages. Some of this was necessary early in the pandemic but the democrats went way way too far. It would of been even worse if “build back better” was passed.

4. Crushing regulations on domestic drilling. Like it or not our infrastructure needs oil to survive. The vast majority of Americans can’t afford a $80k Tesla.
