Am I an hero or villain for arresting criminals?

As some of you know, in the night between the 11th and the 12th of June I led a police and volunteer action against a number of Russian-born criminals living in my jurisdiction. A vast racket of fraud and illegal goods was uncovered. I didn't do it for the glory, I did to protect my people. Despite receiving praise from the citizens, I've been criticized for taking "justice in my hands", since I'm just a public official and should have let the police do their job.
Three people also filed charges against me because I allegedly threatened their children by yelling to my men to take them - however, I had ordered to take them somewhere safe and even gave them sweets afterwards.
Yesterday morning I received a letter from the Russian consul stating that given my actions, I'm now persona non grata in Russia, and that they asked for my procure to bring charges against me.
I'm not sorry and I'm confident I did the right thing, and the law will side with me. However, I am concerned that the populace might think I'm a violent person.

That's the thing you're going to court for. You overstepped your job remit and into the potentially illegal by putting those officers and kids in danger. Not to mention compromised the whole operation as those criminals can now claim the search and warrant was illegal as you broke the law. You should hang your head in shame as your overzealous act has wasted all that public money and time.

The police should have been the ones to take those kids and deal with them, not you. Also, you've given leverage for those criminals to get off scot free because ONLY a marked police officer can directly deal with the operation, not a public official.

Had one of those kids died, been allergic to sweets or been shot in the evacuation you would be charged for their murder. You're also likely to be fired and maybe even fined for interreference.

It's good to oppose crime in your community and it's sad the police needed you to take the lead.

They might have had valid reasons for delay, been on the take or incompetent. You should have found out which it was before making a move.

Be careful of reprisals. Don't over simplify things either nobody is purely a hero or a villian.

When you get between a man and his meal though, things tend to get ugly, even bloody.

You seem to have a childlike view of the situation. Be warned, this kind of thing can get extremely brutal.

Watch the untouchables. You might learn something.

Just throwing money around wouldn't work because they're all corrupt and would still keep people in poverty. Isn't your kind the ones who believe "systematic oppression"? Also, it's extremely inappropriate of them to compare the Jewish people to criminals by making that statement. I think you would be well within your rights to hit back at them and put them in their place.

I'd say you are not a hero or a villain, but a politician. They can be decent people or bad people, but I don't think a politician can ever be a "hero."
