Why does USA use different colors for political parties, than rest of the world?

In most countries in the world, left wing parties use red as their color (hello - communists were red) and right wing parties use blue as their color. In USA it's opposite - Republicans (right wing) are red, and Democrats (left wing) are blue. Why USA has it different?

I’m not sure how valid or sourced this is, but according to the article, the colors were originally based off of the British system, with Republicans = blue and Democrats = Red, but then in the 2000’s election, an official map of the demographics was released with the colors switched, because Republican and Red both start with R, so it’s a natural connection people would make.

That’s not left versus right, it’s liberal vs. totalitarian. Communist parties of Russia and China are the opposite of liberal — they are authoritarian, just like today’s Republican Party.

So how are Republicans against gun control, against big government, against centralism against statism, pro free market and pro deciding things on a state level if you say they're authoritarian.
