No, not fully accurate. But I think it's a nice quick and easy quantifier of how much more intelligent a person may be, compared to the "average." Like, my IQ is 150, so I could say "I'm 50% smarter than the average person," although we know intelligence is not just based on logic, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.

It's kind of like saying "I'm the smartest kid in class because I get the highest scores on all my tests" without taking into account some smart kids are bad test-takers, or some kids cheat on tests. It's easy to get a high score in an IQ test if you're already recently done 100 of them before.
But I do kind of like being able to say I'm at least 50% smarter than the average simpleton, even if it isn't fully accurate. That's just my ego-stroking.
A good quality IQ test is reasonable. Of course it's not perfect but it's the best we have.
Intelligence is just about impossible to even define. IQ tests are somewhat narrow, plus some people are better at test taking than others. But a good test measures more broadly than it might seem. The designers know for example that if someone answers question A correctly, they are likely to answer question B correctly. So question B adds little. By doing that, they can measure broader intelligence with fewer questions.
Most smart people are smart in a lot of ways. If they are smart in some things, they are probably smart in a lot of other things.
It only analyzes a portion of intelligence, being the ability to detect patterns and apply them. Very useful in terms of problem solving, but a far cry from a true detection
No. It is just a measure of how good you are at answering IQ test questions.

If you understand the meaning of "intelligence," the answer is yes.

That is not my understanding of the concept of "intelligence."
It is OBVIOUS that IQ is the most accurate measure of intelligence that exists.
What happens is that there are many people who use tricks to get impossible scores, for example Sidis, who took the test as a child and therefore got a score of 250.
Fortunately, there are professionals who know how to measure the real quotient of people, this in order to disprove all the news of alleged children with an IQ of 300 that appear in the news, with Sidis, for example, they verified that his REAL IQ was 165.
It is also proven that the two people with the highest IQ in history had a score of 210, no one has been able to beat that score.
Lmao at all you dumbasses trying to make excuses for your average intelligence.
A real iq test covers more than one type of intelligence. It's not like the fake shit you take online, you get a bunch of charts and diagrams that explain your strengths and weaknesses.
The biggest obsticle to you improving your intelligence is your ego and your lifestyle.
IQ tests measure what IQ tests measure. There is a strong correlation between IQ, job performance, academic success, career success, income, etc.
There’s different types of intelligence besides those types of things
Nah, I know and work with people with really high IQ scores.
i don’t trust them to make toast on their own.
IQ measures your ability to learn not what you gavd learned
Wisdom is being able to take what you have learned and experienced together with IQ and putting all together creating an understanding of the world around you that wasn't there before
The IQ is seen as a “cup that can be filled” like your potential. You can be a genius in some areas but pretty mediocre in others.
Nope, it might be helpful as far as identifying people who will do good in an academic setting but there are many other indicators of performance.
No, if you had a shitty education you're going to do bad on those test. My IQ was 75 as a teen because I went to a bad school. Now my IQ Is 162 and I have a 3.9 GPA.
It is a subjective assessment and not a scientific one.
it depends on what kind of intelligence you can have someone that can do any math problem with a high IQ but do you want them to save you from being lost in a jungle how about have them fix your car
I don't believe it. There's one female singer in my country who is said to have an iq of 156, and she acts childlish and bimbo-like as hell.
I don't think it's accurate.
I also think being smart and being intelligent isn't the same.
Its certainly a variable for an overall decision. But we also have cases of smart kids who are bad test takers.
I wouldn't say it's accurate at all but it does give a rough indication of where you are in relation to the average.
it can't be, because that would have a negative impact on one race... so it can't be that
Yes. But only because you said "an."
I honestly couldn't say considering I have a 168 IQ
No. The ability to think is.
IQ testing is not accurate at all! it's a sham.
Best tool we have. Not perfect
