Do you know anyone that had an abortion?

I am pro choice but I personally do not know one single person that has had an abortion.  I wonder how many people the repeal of Roe vs. Wade will effect?

I do. My aunt, when she was 18. It was an agonizing decision for her. She wanted my dad (her older brother and confidant) to make the decision for her but he would not. In the end she went through with it. At age 30 she and my 6 year old cousin were killed by a drunk driver. I was 8 at the time. Her 4 year old daughter survived. She was my favorite aunt. I really loved her. Only learned of the abortion a few years ago. I cannot imagine what she must have gone through to make that agonizing decision. While I know in my heart I could never and would never have an abortion, I appreciate the agonizing decision women in desperate circumstances go through.

A friends daughter had 3 before she was out of high school. My guess is she had never heard of the pill or a condom.

Yes. I don't know anyone who goes around broadcasting it. But two of my first girlfriends when I was 15 or 16 had early term abortions when they were 13 or 14. They had been young and naive with their first sexual partners (not me). But they both learned their lessons and got on the pill.
I think about how badly their lives would have been ruined if they had not had access to abortion.
They both grew up to get married later and have children.

Yes. I have known 3 personally and met 2. ALL of them regret their decision to abort. Of those, ZERO were raped or going to die giving birth.

2 were teens and weren't given a "choice". The others were told it was their only "choice" unless they wanted their child to have a terrible life.

All 5 ended up married with children and a life of regret.

Not recently. But back in the late 70's and 80's when everyone was having sex with lots of people and some got pregnant and had an abortion. I knew some that had a few abortions. But people kind of accepted it cause, after all, it was the 80's. And young women weren't ashamed to tell their friends when the had abortions. I can't answer why things were the way they were back then, they just were. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I know one. She's 36, amateur anchor and she doesn't have finances or desire to support a child.

If she was a lesbian or bi, I'd have lost my virginity to her. She's the most chill woman. The conservative neighborhood hates her. So does mom.

But I can say this on behalf of my mom, she'd rather have her stagnant career than kids — if trading was an option.

Yes, I've had several friends who had them... one of them in high school, literally used the excuse that she was in a hot tube with a group of guys skinny dipping and one of them must of leaked and it got into her... and her mom believed her and arranged for it.

Then the 2nd time her parents was like, not going for that again.

Others were just too nervous to make the man use a condom, especially when he gets pushy about not wanting to use one... they give in.

My mother had an abortion when I was still a baby. My father told her that I was too little and that they weren't ready to raise another child.
I also know a woman who had an abortion because her baby would be born with a disability.

In real life, I know about a dozen women who have had abortions. A few because they were too young or financially unstable, a few because of an abusive partner, one because the parter removed his condom with the purpose of getting her pregnant to trap her, 2 ectopic pregnancies, and a few non-viable pregnancies.

Yeah, my ex-fiance. Her first baby with her ex-hubby was a still born. It REALLY fucked with her head to have that dead baby in her for the last few months of her pregnancy. Years later, I got her pregnant and, although we WANTED to keep the kid, her Dr. told her that if she kept it, it was either gonna be another still born or it was gonna kill her! So, we opted to abort! Better to save one life than risk 2!

You probably don’t know any women that you know have had abortions. In my upper middle class high school, I knew one girl who had a baby. I can’t believe pregnancies were that rare.

It’s one of those things women may not tell their best friends.
