With more than 400,000 children in foster care, does it seem more couples want to adopt children when they are babies?

With all this talk about how great the gift of life is and I'm sure it is for most people who make that statement, 20,000 foster children age out of the system each year. https://www.adoptuskids.org/meet-the-children/children-in-foster-care/about-the-children Currently they're about 400,000 children in the system from infants to the age of 21 in some states and approximately 117,000 are waiting to be adopted. Many don't get adopted because they are older or for other reasons such as disabilities. If more children are going to be born in the U. S. can we also find a way to get more foster children into permanent homes? What are your thoughts on this.

You need to realize that older kids in foster homes tend to be raised by bad parents. When kids are raised by bad parents, they tend to ahve mental issues, emotional issues or these kids can be commiting crimes already. Freshly born babies are new, haven't been molded by society yet so they are moer predictable. Secondly, couples are significanlty less willing to adopt a disabled child because these kids are more work, more problems, and less likely to be able to ever live on their own. People want their kids to eventually leave the nest so they can enjoy their retirement years. They're not interested in supporting someone forever.

And i don't think its a good idea to force people to accept kids they do not want into their homes. Because unwanted kids aren't treated well. All throughout history for thousands of years, orphans have been bought and sold as servants for households and typically they were never treated well. In fact, this type of thing still happens in some 3rd world countries. And it also explains why the US has imposed very stringent draconian requirements on couples who want to adopt. We cannot let innocent defenseless children into the hands of the wrong people. We cannot randomly hand kids over to people or force unwanted kids onto them.

My thoughts are 1) Overturning Roe was about reversing an illegal power grab by the central government. You can still choose to allow abortion in your state, if that is what the people of your state want. 2) You can drive to a different state if you want an abortion. Plenty of states will still offer abortion based on their own criteria. 3) If known of that works out for you, extended family is always the best option. Maybe you should start caring about your families and communities rather than just trying to kill them... You ever consider taking in a cousin if the mother is a street walking junkie and abandons their kid, or are you like man fuck my cousin, they should have been killed?

Nope, I don't care about a bunch of random people I have no connection with... That said, my mother was in the foster system as were two of my uncles. Some of us actually know what it's all about, while others like you just like to act self-righteous online. I already gave you the solution to that problem. Take care of your extended family and help your local community. Next time try reading to the end.

Part of my job is to take care of people in my local community, that includes children in the foster care system. I would like to see more people take an interest in the living. I see people have such a strong conviction about outlawing abortion as a procedure which is fine, but not use that same conviction to figure out ways to help prevent it from being needed in the first place or ways to actually help those who are living, breathing and some strugginling through life as we speak. If being pro-life is not about caring for the living and doing what we can to help the living than efforts to help the unborn are in vain, in my opinion.

Overturning Roe was about stripping powers that the federal government seized from the people of the United States illegally. They broke the law and oppressed the people of America. It has nothing to do with anyone's personal opinions on abortion.

The Constitution doesn't delegate decision making when it comes to abortion (and other health care decisions) to the federal government (as was observed with vaccine mandates), nor does it prohibit the states from making their own decisions. It's pretty fucking simple. People in sovereign states can make their own decisions to reflect their own body politic via ballot measures or state legislatures.

What you think is right in your state has nothing to do with my state. You take care of your own in your own community the way you see fit. If you want to exterminate your people and crash your population opening your territory to military invasion that is up to you. If you want to limit it to the first trimester then so be it. If you want to outlaw it then go for it. The decisions you make in your local politics will have consequences for your sovereign state which may lead to different solutions. We're not all in the same boat. People have different beliefs and different solutions. Rather than fight about what you think is right and trying to force it on everyone, focus on your state, your community, your family so that it is not a burden you impose on everyone else due to your own irresponsibility. I don't care about saving every person in the world. I'm not a bleeding heart with fake sympathy. I see what happens around me. If my family needs me to help them, I help them. If people in the area go hungry I try to help them out. Homeless people or foster children 3000 miles away are not my responsibility, they are the responsibility of the community that is 3000 miles away.

I didn't say hardly anything about abortion, why does being pro-life have to be just about abortion, which is the point I was trying to make. I'm not sure what mistakes I have made other than pull myself out of poverty, and work in public service to help others, unless you were speaking figuratively.

It takes a village to raise a kid. Everyone within a community plays a part in how the next generation grows up. If your community is a shit box slum with junkies on the corner, litter all over the streets, people shooting each other up, people burning down their own cites, people aborting and/or abandoning their children, people dropping out of school, high unemployment rates, etc. then their is a cultural problem within your community and how ever small your part is in that, you play a role in shaping your community. Shit in shit out... Same is true for the opposite. People's behavior doesn't change by throwing tax money to the federal government. It changes when parents look out for their own children. When families stick together. When people build up their own community and take pride in keeping their surrounds clean and their community safe and productive.
