Think about it. The people who are pro-choice also have other views that other pro-choice people have such as their view on guns and most likely democrats. The people who are pro-life are most likely republicans so what I am assuming is going to happen is that people who live in states where abortion is going to become restricted will move to places like California that reflect their political beliefs while the other side will move to states like Texas and be surrounded by other people with similar beliefs.
I am pro-choice but this is the silver lining! People moving in to live with other people that share similar beliefs. In this sense, it’s a great idea.

Hmmmm. . . I'm not sure why one would need to move to another state over this to be honest. If you live in a state that restricts abortion and you need to get one, you don't need to MOVE--you can just TRAVEL to the place that provides them and come home after.
Just like I like the beach. I don't LIVE near the beach. I don't need to MOVE to the beach to get to the beach. I can take a TRIP to the beach and come home after.
Also, as it turns out--most people will go to the beach a heck of a lot more than they'll get abortions. Just sayin'

@update: People very well may move for politics, but honestly I don't see abortion mattering much for that. People move for things that impact their lives every day. So the big ones would be taxes, school closures (or openings) and quality, forced business closures (or openings) and things like mask mandates. Then you've got crime/policing and homelessness. No sane person would move because of the local availability of a procedure they'll most likely never need, would need at most once or twice in their lives and could easily travel for if they needed it. People get fired up about abortion but no one moves because of it.
That's not a good thing! That just means more people will be intolerant and lash out against views different from their own. It's not like this is going to help with dating or friendships, as people can already find like-minded people using the internet and still don't.
I called this years ago, though. The collapse of the UNITED States of America.
Rather than Democrats and Republicans fighting for control over the federal government in order to subjugate eachother, Democrats stay in their blue states and Republicans stay in their red states and they both get what they want. We'd be a lot more civil if you could just go "Oh those crazy Texans, at least I live in a sensible state like California" rather than look at the other as a threat to your way of life and beliefs.

And then the UNITED States ceases to exist and each individual state becomes too weak to function on its own.
The whole "divided we fall" part.
Instead, people just need to learn to compromise and respect each other, instead of becoming combative and aggressive over the dumbest sh*t, whether that be abortion or made-up pronouns. But of course, those in power don't want people getting along. The last time people were united against a common enemy in the US was 2011 with Occupy Wall Street. You know, until they turned it into a joke and started using the media to flat-out lie and gaslight the people.
We can be united as a country while respecting that there are differences among the states. Not everything needs to be agreed upon at the federal level, actually very few things need to be agreed upon at the federal level. Forcing every state to be in line on an issue through federal law is what's creating the division.
It is possible, the more states have rights the more people can move around to fit the state that reflects their views but there is also more likelihood of them just fighting on the state level to change things. Which lets face it is, far easier than on the federal level.
People tend to move where the jobs are though, even if their own area has a crappy economy with no jobs, they often don't want to leave... but the hard working ones will move to anther state to get a job, while those lazy ones will complain there is no work and won't move.
The biggest silver lining is that babies under a certain age will no longer be killed. But what you described is definitely something I also look forward to.
No. Study after study after study shows that abortion numbers won't go down much if at all. All that will happen is more women will die from dangerous unsanctioned abortions. And guess what, their babies die too.
I agree somewhat. You can choose to surround yourself with people who have the same political views, especially on abortion, as you do, but it's not possible to completely avoid people who have different beliefs. You're still going to run into them or you may work with them. Just because you're in blue state like say New York doesn't mean that there also aren't going to be people who are pro-life.
Or just because you're in a red state like Texas also doesn't mean that there also aren't going to be people who are pro-choice. However, it is difficult for people who hold strong and polarizing views on abortion or any other political issue to be friends or even date. Some people may be able to make those friendships and relationships work but it's difficult for many.
Sure, but why stop there? Why not make it really easy, and just split the country in two? The blue part can get on with being a modern, developed country. The red part can carry on pretending it's still the 1950s (if not the 1850s). And then Texas will probably want to declare independence too, once they get tired of having to single-handedly prop up all those other dirt poor red states like Mississippi, West Virginia and Kentucky, that receive twice as much federal funding as they contribute in taxes. The red part will be pretty screwed, but hey, who needs jobs or an education, when you have Jesus and guns, right?
People will live where there is nice weather and where their families are usually. People are TOO scared to leave what they are familiar with. They are not going to uproot themselves (especially if they already have a good job where they are, or their spouse has a good job where they are, or their children are in good schools with good people, etc.)
Legalizing or not legalizing it would have no effect on those folks unless they were in that particular situation. Namely, a desperate single female that is experiencing an oops pregnancy!

The biggest silver lining is the U. S. supreme court is finally recognizing the fact that they can't just invent unwritten Constitutional protections for rights at the expense of others like life retained by the people.
Although this is the easiest way to resolve the issue it is not the ideal way. the ideal way is for the president and congress to simply refuse to enforce the court's lawless edict against the States, and stop allowing them such intrastate jurisdiction.
Checking and balancing out the court's abuses is the only way to defend any Constitution against the abuses of 5+ unaccountable Federal politicians in black robes.
That is certainly important. However, it is not the most important. Unless they are pregnant, very few people will move to another state over the issue of abortion.
The actual silver lining is the Supreme Court following the US Constitution. The US Constitution does not give the Federal government authority to regulate abortions.
Of course that is a silly notion. We learned this in the civil war. You can't have an issue like this legal in one state, then a felony murder in another state.
That is too big a difference.
As Lincoln probably would have said. . . either this nation will have legalized abortion. . . or it will be made to be felony murder everywhere in every state.
I don't totally agree at all. If you are settled somewhere and something happens in your state that you don't agree with. It might not be feasible to leave. There might be many reasons that I won't list here why that person will still be in that state.
Furthermore, the supreme court just gave power back to the states instead of this ruling remaining as a federal one. Many states still allow abortion.
Furthermore, in states where there are more restrictions now (I'm not sure if that means there are no ways for a woman to have an abortion) and a number of groups are fighting it.
One such group in Florida for example is fighting these new restrictions. They are saying that it violates their religious freedom which is protected by the U. S. constitution, because see their religion allows abortion. So just because this ruling was made doesn't mean it will remain in the form it currently exists in forever either.
I've thoughg similar things not just with this issues. However, some concern is that the blue states will have more of the voting population which means that there will be majority represention in the house of representatives. However, each state in the union will have two senators each, so if there are more red states represented in the senate than blue states we're going to be looking at political gridlock for years to come if things stay as polarized politically as they are now.
One group thinks it's murder, while the other thinks it's a fundamental human right. When two groups of people are diametrically opposed to eachother then them staying away from eachother is the best course of action.
We have states that you can freely move between with differing laws for a reason, and this is one of them.
Perhaps, on a grander scale there is so little holding America together, if we have a geological difference too with definitive borders it’s only going to hasten us down the path to civil war. There is little to no doubt in my mind that we will see the end of America as we know it in our lifetimes, and I’m increasingly convinced it will be within the decade.

What will happen though is that the intolerant bigot states will just find something else to discriminate against.
You either believe in freedom or you think you have the right to make choices for others and if you think you get to make choices for others there are no limits to what you will want to make choices about.
I wonder if the Roe v Wade decision will, in the long run, have much impact on life in the United States. After all, the country lived without a federal right to abortion for almost 200 years before Roe v Wade.
the overturning of roe v wade will like effect those. who engage in hookup culture the most. if they do so without using any form of birth control that is.
That already happens. I was born and raised in Kansas. 95% of the liberal kids I went to school with moved to more liberal states the other 5% moved to more liberal towns in state.
I never said they’d kill themselves, I said they could kill each other with their guns. That’s what the majority of them want to do with them, shoot up schools or cinemas, drive by shootings etc. Let them take it out on each other instead.
The media glorifies violence just for attention. It’s seriously not as bad as you think it is. We aren’t just killing each other everyday. There’s countries far worse than us.
How is reporting the amount of people injured by a bullet glorified? Just admit yous got a gun violence problem. You guys are the only ones blind to it, the rest of the world can see it clearly.
It’s still a small minority of gun owners doing this. It’s not the majority or even half of gun owners. Now where even close. Yes, we have a school shooting problem but we are working to fix it. Other countries have other problems too. Nobody is perfect.
