The people in Germany are outraged that politicians conveniently agreed that they deserve another raise while the working class is struggling with the constant rise in prices for everything to the point that having a roof over your head is considered a luxury.

I think politicians should be paid by the hour and fill out a time sheet to determine how much they get paid.
In the USA 🇺🇸 I can't remember when the politicians actually did some real work to help America with solving the problems. Instead, they defended the police, and now there are hundreds police officers quitting and retiring without replacing them.
Our government does everything they can to make Americans lives unaffordable - and they are getting paid to do it all with tax payers money. This is a crime against humanity because we cannot stop the government from continuing to take our country down. 😶

The median pay of the country's working class.

Bar them from making any investments, their portfolios must be transparent and publicly visible and trackable, they cannot accept bribes, and they cannot be paid by corporations for anything (no speaking arrangements either).

Tie the wealth and financial health of politicians to the people they represent. Then they'll be incentivized to push for a better life for their electors - because the better the working class life, the better the politician's financial reward.

The problem with even debating this issue is that (at least here in the US), they have all the power to determine their own salaries, and can easily profiteer on the side, which is how they actually get rich.

This is like politicians running on the idea of creating term limits, yet they're still in those positions 12 years later, and you're never going to convince hundreds of politicians to basically vote to castrate themselves, but they're the only ones with the authority to make it happen.
