I think it is a stressful job because you go into it with such large aspirations to make the world a better place, only to realize the system is too big, you're just a drop of water in the ocean, and you can't change much unless you're at the top.

I would be a dictator if I was given the opportunity. I know most people hate the concept of dictatorship because there's no case where everyone will agree with all of your perspectives. However, there are definitely people that have perspectives that reflect most of the population and will act in the best interest of the people. There are people that the majority of people would be happy to lead them.

Well if you’re there with good intentions and wanting to make a genuine difference it’s incredibly stressful and you will work really hard on things that go absolutely nowhere just believe me on that.

If you’re someone whose wanting to make easy money form lobbyists, insider trading, and taking money from people to do their bidding. If you’re there to go along to get along so that you can make friends. You can be the dumbest most ignorant son of a bitch the worlds ever seen and get by pretty well.

Ever since I was a kid people told me I should be a politician (or a lawyer)
It seems I have a knack for the argumentative aspects of it

But I don’t think it’s for me

I prefer to be the one that gets things done as opposed to the one that spends his days talking about how great it’s all gonna be someday without ever taking the first step

In the town i live in the local state real was a real dumbbell. He would just vote the way the democrat leadership told him to vote. I had planned on running against him as a Republican. I live in an area where you need to have a good job to be able to afford to live here and I had many people who supported my candidacy. The incumbent was found dead in his swimming pool and his wife was appointed in his place. I did not want to the somebody who ran against a dead guys wife so I did not do it.
Fortunately another Republican candidate won the election

I was in a very small beer kinda way as president of an apartment complex. It should be purely managing maint. But when you take fees out of peoples pockets it rapidly becomes political.

I did make some difference towards community safety.

So yeah I think it is a stressful job and no I wouldn't be one for a living.

No. You just need to lie to and to betray "fools" who elect you. Otherwise you have meetings in parliaments few time in month, you push the red or the green button. you look what you can steal and you look for children you could take away their sweets.
Of course you have to pray to dark gods of fortune, but you should do that without being a politician anyway. lol

I had the opportunity actually to be a politician I had somehow got chosen for a position in my town but turned it down.

I know it's a stressful job, dealing with snakes, public opinion, etc and I know just from knowing myself that I am not suited for public office.

I do make a difference in my direct environment.

In my wider environment I am not interested to put in effort for people who mostly do not deserve my efforts.

Politicians are indeed in stress:

they need to cover and hide the bribes they receive, they need to lie cheat and deceive constantly - either to get elected or to get re-elected, they need to come up with solutions where there are no solutions.

No I wouldn't and not because it COULD be a stressful job (every other day someone else throwing problems at you they think is the end of the world would be a drag). I wouldn't do it because I prefer not to be noticed and approached in the street by random people wanting a piece of me.

I'm far too honest to ever succeed in the political arena. But yes I would run for office if I truly thought I could help things. But having lived as long as I have and having seen what I've seen I know I couldn't. But that's ok because there are many ways to improve the world that having nothing to do with politics.
