Guns don't hurt people, bullets do. It was obviously the bullet (s)'s fault. Or maybe the dog's. Or maybe liberals to blame somehow. It's weird, but somehow they are probably to blame because if not for them and gun control, this uzi would have not had to be hidden or whatever.
Honestly, it's probably the fault of the government allowing people freedom to be idiots. But idiots want their rights same as anybody else, and they will cry loudly about being restricted so they don't hurt themselves or others. So it's probably best if we just let them keep being free to hurt themselves and others. To avoid all the whining we have to listen to. Although, there will still be lots of whining either way, they will always find something to whine about.
There isn't a scenario where it's not the parents' fault.
If the gun was obtained legally by the kids' parents and secured poorly, it's the parents' fault.
If the gun was obtained illegally by the kids' parents and secured poorly, it's the parents' fault.
If the kids got the gun somewhere with their parents' knowledge and consent, it's the parents' fault, because the kids are 14 and 12.
If the kids got the gun somewhere without their parents' knowledge and consent, it's the parents' fault, because the kids are 14 and 12, and the parents should be doing a better job of keeping track of their kids.
I'll go with almost all of those. Kids can really take off in a hurry even if being watched closely, so I might give the parents a bit of grace on #4.
@Massageman Maybe, but the story says it was an Uzi-style gun. That's not a small gun. Where were they hiding it? How were they sneaking around with it? If it was #4, these parents had to be asleep at the wheel.
Sure, I can see that. Now all we have to do is to get some judges to start giving more than just a warning or a week of community service!
@Massageman Agreed, but unfortunately many of them have their hands tied with "no discretion" laws.

1. Not enough information to say. Whats an uzi style gun? Does it shoot.177 bbs or.22 caliber semi auto or is a legit full auto 9mm?
2. How was it obtained?
3. Was the kid shot because the dog was on top of him or was he just shot by accident and the dog had nothing to really do with it?
4. Who let the dog out? Owner is definitely at fault here if allowed a violent dog out unsupervised.
1. It’s an Uzi in Detroit I’m assuming it’s full auto
2. I would guess legally
3. From the sound of it the dog ran out and the kid took the gun out to scare it off or shoot it and ended up shooting his brother. I didn’t hear anything about the dog attacking them
4. It could be a stray there’s a lot of them down there.
Both 1 and 2 cannot both be possible. Full auto cannot be legally owned as a minor. And practically impossible for the average adult.
"1. It’s an Uzi in Detroit I’m assuming it’s full auto

Did you mean illegally?
My point really being without the details it really could be many people's fault or a multiple of peoples fault all at once. Just not enough info to say for sure without jumping to conclusions.
For instance it could be a uzi style gun that shoots.177 caliber i mean it says style so that means nothing more than it kinda looks like an uzi. That caliber is basically a high powered bb gun which is not that strange a 14 yo might have that. And if the dog was let out by someone and attacked and the 14 yo just had bad aim... its really just the dog owner at fault.
On the other hand maybe its a 9mm uzi legit military issue gun. The dad purchased illegally and left out and the kid thought it was a toy. Well the dad would be at fault... BUT ALSO the dog owner if it indeed had one.
Or maybe the kid shot the friend on purpose and just claims there was a dog. Well then its the 14 year old too.
Who knows?
I am assuming the parents legally purchased this firearm and it is registered in their name.
In that case, they accept full and total responsibility for this incident.
It's Donald Trump's fault, for some reason. Also, literally all white people, too. They're also to blame. CNN+ told me.
It is the parents. The kid is also to blame.
The parents are responsible for not having the gun secured, and the 14-year-old is to a lesser extent for being old enough to know better.
Is the dog okay?
Is that how you guys read the story? I read it as if the kids were afraid of the dog. I suppose you guys could be correct and that they're just jerks.
@NYCQuestions1976 Its an over the top reaction to a dog appearing, i mean if it was about to attack them sure i can see that it might be useful to shoot it, but most dogs won't just randomly attack two kids on a go kart, its more scary for them. It sounds a bit like they just wanted to shoot something and that dog appeared, so in reality the result was the best result
Oh it's definitely an overreaction at the very least.
@StevieNix Is that really the dog?
@NYCQuestions1976
No, I just made that up. The point is, why did the kids have the weapon?
@StevieNix Agreed. See my response.
