Since Europe violated international law by placing sanctions on Russia, this winter should Russia double what they have been charging for natural gas?

Since Europe violated international law by placing sanctions on Russia, this winter should Russia double what they have been charging for natural gas?

It seems rather dishonest to be posting a picture about sanctions which predate the invasion of Ukraine as if it is current information.
My understanding of the international law violation which is being cited is in relation to food supplies and I believe its current status is 'at risk' not definitive and historic.
What is important, to me, is that the West has been attacking Russia economically for a very long time, not just since 2014 but for about 20 years.
One of the sanctions which was imposed on Russia recently, as a result of the invasion of Ukraine is not allowing transactions with the Russia central bank.
In response to this action taken by the West, Putin / Russia has not unreasonably it seems to me responded by demanding payment for its gas in Rubles.
What is wrong with that exactly?
Why would Britain or the EU use US dollars to buy gas from Russia?
That makes no sense at all, it clearly benefits the US in a deal they aren't even part of.
Spoiler alert : It is the US's militarily backed insistance that global trade for oil and gas etc should be in US dollars which is the problem.
You seem to be under the impression that 'doubling the price' is the worst thing that could happen, it isn't.
The problem facing the UK and EU is if Russia stops selling us gas altogether.
I for one am quite happy to pay for Russia gas in rubles, perhaps if we had been doing this all along and perhaps if there werent US bio research labs in the Ukraine and a sustained effort to damage the Russian economy we wouldn't be in this fucking mess at all.
It seems to me that there are big fish playing fucking games with other peoples lives, this should be a crime if it isn't already and these people should be fucking executed, just like the fucking bankers in 2008.
It is way past time that we put an end to this bullshit once and for all time.
I was with you on everything until you tried to blame the US for your problems. You’re ok with us providing the military guarantee for your ability to have this conversation in English not once but twice, however now you hav a problem with the best way they could come up with to pay for it?
@Sixgunsound There is so much wrong with what you just said that I dont even know where to begin.
As I have tried to explain to you before, your sense of self is so deeply enmeshed with the idenity of your nation that you are completely incapable of viewing anything which happens in an objective way.
The US attacking the Russian economy for the last 20 years and having research labs in Ukraine, the petrodollar etc, this is objective reality, its nothing to do with deflecting responsibility away from the country in which i live, which by the way isn't me, I am an entirely separate entity, I am not a nationalist. I am not looking for a way to put Britain on a pedestal and demonise every other nation, that is however your aim. I only wish to understand what is really happening in the world.
Some of these things are not specifically American, they are Western and more importantly they are mostly nothing to do with any nation really as our nations have become puppets to whatever you want to call it, the illuminati?
The US made huge amounts of money from WWII its nothing to do with the petrodollar. I also dont think you have any idea what that is or if you do then you dont care if it is ethical so long as you benefit from it and that being the case why should I give any kind of shit what you think about anything, you aren't a moral agent.
oh, and it wasn't truly bankers in 2008, the federal government required banks to extend loans to people through fanniemae and freddiemac loan programs so that low income individuals could buy houses. when they defaulted on those houses the debts were traded and repackaged several times, but the fed gov never underwrote the loans they required the banks to issue and when the failing loans accrued sufficient debt the whole thing folded. It was ultimately government interference with the loan programs that initiated the whole thing.
@KennyG72 You are a total muppet.
@KennyG72 There is no point in trying to reason with you as you are clearly a delusional moron.
They did not violate international law.
the Russians illegally invaded Ukraine in a war that has been going on since 2014.
that also generated sanctions.
this latest part of the war 2022, has shown that the Russians have zero regard for civilian life and are more than prepared to commit war crimes.
Sanctions are starting to bite, as there are shortages of technical parts from various sectors.
The Russians have also shown just how inferior they are on the battle field, huge losses of equipment, and men. They are now recruiting from prisons for their front line troops in Ukraine
The graphic you have used is an old one lol.
I don't know if sanction are a violation of international law but clearly they were wrong. However, the sanctions are not harming Russia since the Ruble is the highest against the US Dollar in 7 years.
The fact that there are more rubles to the dollar actually means the dollar is worth more.
@EnglishEuropean That would be true if that were the case. However, it takes fewer rubles to buy dollars. In March it was 136 rubles per dollar. Now it is rubles per dollar.
www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=USD&to=RUB&view=1Y
@EnglishEuropean * Now it is 51 rubles per dollar. Therefore, since March the dollar has lost 63% of its value. The ruble buys 2.7 times as much.
I really don't understand why we care what Europe does. It's a circus 🎪🎪 and it always has been and always will be. Why do i have to hear about it?
Because a lot of the same families that run the US are old European money. Ancient European money.

Russia has declared force majeure on deliveries to European customers in some countries because of parts shortages held up in Canada over sanctions. They are not able to provide natural gas starting when the temperature outside typically starts dropping. Europe should really consider how useful it’s green new deal really is, before citizens start dying of preventable causes.
Russia is learning that being nice doesn't work with the USA and Europe. They see being nice a weak. If will serve Europe right if Russia doubles the price of natural gas. They can freeze or import bottle gas. That may not matter to the evil rulers but the people are not going to like the higher prices. Meanwhile Russia makes a lot more money.
Russia violated first the international law and comon agreements between Ukrain and Russia and West comunity.
I hope Russia will brake the same way like USSR
Sure. They can do whatever they want when theyre ignored.
Er, Russia broke international law by invading Ukraine dumbass.
if they cut us off we would be in huge trouble.
Russia violated international law by invading Ukraine.
@qwert1234 The facts are the USA illegally interfered with Ukraine elections in 2012, removing the leader that was friendly to Russia and installed a USA puppet and that puppet has been attacking the Russian speaking people in the Eastern part of Ukraine that actually belongs. They asked for Putin's help and declared independence from Ukraine, which if read our Declaration of Independence, is the right people anywhere. Ukraine backed the criminal USA attacked anyway giving Putin no other choice.
Russian sock puppet. The Ukrainians are fiercely resisting the Russian invasion. Putin is a deluded megalomaniac. Educated Russians are leaving as fast as possible. "Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine began in February, between 50,000 and 70,000 IT sector workers have left the country."
Russia should protect their own interests...
Lmao if they do no one will buy it
