Am I wrong for not accepting the apology?

I left school because anywhere I turned people believed a fictionalized story of something that didn't even happen. People were in my face calling me awful names and calling me other stuff that I'm not even gonna try to disguise. No matter what I said or did it wasn't and didn't help because people believe what they want to believe. I couldn't go to the grocery store without someone seeing me and laughing out loud then stopping when I made eye contact with them. Years later people want me to accept their apology and I laughed in their faces. Now I'm the bad guy.

If you don't feel it then don't accept it. You're not obligated to accept an apology just because someone says it...

I think the idea of apologising became somewhat warped. Instead of it being done for the benefit of the person that was wronged, it's done for the person who is apologising as a way to absolve them of guilt.

That being said, if you don't let go of resentment, you're the one who will suffer the most in the end. Doesn't mean you have to accept their apology though.

You can laugh in their faces, you can accept their appology if any of them is worth it...

... but, in the end, you're going to have to deal with that trauma, if you haven't already.

And how to do that is a lot more difficult question.

Focus on yourself, you seem to have to go through a lot to get where you are now.

Hope you overcame that and are in a better place with a lot better people.
